Chapter 17 Everything Settled
Near the food and entertainment district of Qi Yuan City.
Night Lan expertly led the four Little Lolis to a rather deserted cafe.
This was the best place for a chat.
“Ah, well, sit down first, you guys. I’ll explain everything properly.”
Bai Yu hopped right beside Night Lan as if hinting at something.
Zero Meow, Star Yoon, and Neko Shinna sat in a row, waiting for Night Lan’s explanation.
Star Yoon and Neko Shinna were pretty chill about it, thinking Night Lan was just awesome; they didn’t have many doubts.
But Zero Meow had a different vibe.
She was super curious and wanted to know all the details, like a cat obsessed with yarn.
It seemed this was quite the shocking revelation.
“Come on, speak up quick! Whatever you say, I’ll take appropriate action. I won’t let you lead Night Lan astray!”
Night Lan comforted her softly, “Oh Zero Meow, don’t overreact. I’m a legit Night Watcher, remember? I’d never betray the group.”
“First things first, you mentioned you know an Audience Performer from the Rising Sun Theater Group?”
Night Lan nodded slightly, getting ready to spin her yarn.
Although this wasn’t the truth, it was better to keep it hidden from Zero Meow for now.
Even her boss Xiao Jin and the Leader don’t know that she’s an Audience Performer!
If Zero Meow found out, it would probably shock her for a whole year, which might be too much for her heart.
And revealing this to these little Lolis would absolutely destroy Night Lan’s social life.
“In fact, I’ve known the Audience Performer for a while.”
“When did it happen?” Zero Meow asked, intrigued.
“At night, one dark evening when I was walking home, I met a girl with silver hair. She noticed me too. It turned out we had some instant rapport. She thought I could understand her, and I found her fascinating. So, we became friends. She took me back to the Rising Sun Theater, where I met the group members, and I’ve kept it a secret ever since.”
Night Lan talked so convincingly, it sounded utterly believable.
Bai Yu couldn’t help but turn her head, worried she might burst out laughing.
Man, Night Lan’s story was cliché as heck.
Would anyone actually believe such a thing?
Zero Meow’s eyes widened, clearly buying it.
“Huh? So coincidentally? That’s wild, you ran into the Audience Performer by chance? What a strange fate!”
For some reason, Zero Meow suddenly felt envious of Night Lan.
It was every Night Watcher’s dream to interact with the Audience Performer who runs the Rising Sun Theater.
There was even a heated discussion about it on the Night Watcher forums recently.
Everyone speculated about what kind of person she was, how cute she appeared, and so on.
Just being able to conquer the Rising Sun Theater was already bizarre enough.
“Fate is funny. You just never know,” Night Lan continued, luring her in.
“At first, I didn’t know she was the Audience Performer. I thought she was just another girl on her way home. It took us days to build up our bond before she took me to the mysterious Rising Sun Theater.”
“That makes sense… Now tell me, what’s she like? Is she cute?”
“Yep, really cute.” Night Lan bragged shamelessly, not batting an eye.
“How cute?”
“Cute like me.”
For the first time, Night Lan told the truth, but Zero Meow interpreted it as meaning the Audience Performer was as cute as Night Lan.
“Oh, that’s exciting! I really want to meet her now. If she is your friend, can I meet her too?”
Zero Meow’s enthusiasm faded her initial shock.
Night Lan reassured her, “Who knows? If she wants to meet you, she will come. But you have to keep this a secret. If Xiao Jin boss finds out, it might complicate things. If the Rose Theater turns out to be bad news, I’d have to join it.”
Listening to Night Lan’s playful warning, Zero Meow pondered, debating between her friend and the Night Watchers.
Seconds later, she made her decision, breaking her own rules.
“Don’t worry, I’ll back you. I promise to keep it a secret.”
This wasn’t exactly a grave affair.
The Rising Sun Theater was approved by the Night Watchers anyway.
As long as it doesn’t harm her personally, Night Lan’s interaction is fine.
But if the group turned out to be bad, Zero Meow should stop Night Lan from getting involved.
“It’s settled then,” Night Lan sighed as Zero Meow accepted the reality.
After settling Zero Meow, the others weren’t a big deal.
Next to them, Star Yoon and Neko Shinna looked puzzled, clearly not following the flow.
Night Lan addressed them, “You two need to keep this secret. Don’t tell anyone. And this theater is perfect for fishing, Star Yoon. Not only can you watch performances, but also hide in quiet corners and daydream. It’s amazing.”
Star Yoon nodded eagerly, quickly agreeing.
“I get it. So, will there be more fishing buddies later?”
“Well, maybe.”
Suddenly inspired, who knew if Star Yoon’s laziness trait could influence the others.
If it did, everyone could become sleepy-eyed cast members. That would be hilarious.
“Neko Shinna, if we can go to the theater again, can you make a bit extra? I bet the theater members will love your snacks.”
“Really?” Neko Shinna’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
“Yes, really.”
Night Lan couldn’t help but smirk, his eyes gleaming.
For Neko Shinna, who loved cooking, having someone appreciate her food meant the world to her.
Plus, those who ate her food regularly often became her friends, making her one of the easiest to befriend.
Without needing a reminder, she would naturally keep the secret.
She was too wrapped up in cooking to care whether the ones eating were people or Star Eclipses.
To her, any Star Eclipse willing to eat her food was a good one!
Excellent.
Everyone was on board now.
Zero Meow was still staring at Bai Yu, as if she knew something.
“Bai Yu, did you know about this all along?”
“Hmm, what do you think?” Bai Yu smiled slyly in return.
The answer was obvious.
Zero Meow’s eyes widened with a mix of curiosity and frustration.
“Curse you, Bai Yu! You stole my thunder, I can’t forgive you!”
