Chapter 32: Order of Sequence
“Whoa, looks like a Star Holder is coming over. Do you think they’re like the Night Watchers?!”
Night Star shook Kong Yu Bai’s arm excitedly, getting more and more curious about what was to come.
Kong Yu Bai just smiled enigmatically, fully aware of the approaching Star Holder.
The newcomer was not hiding their presence at all, striding in with a rather aggressive air.
If they operated like the Night Watchers, they were probably law enforcers patrolling the area who heard about some Star Holder criminal activity and rushed over.
Soon enough, Night Star and Kong Yu Bai caught sight of the Star Holder. It was only two people arriving on some kind of motorcycle.
The criminals detected their approach and became alert.
Out stepped a silver-haired, blue-eyed girl; she was likely six feet tall, dressed in a tight white uniform that accentuated her slim figure, looking very much like a temptress.
This girl, dressed provocatively yet maintaining a serious expression, seemed almost knight-like in her sternness.
“I am Sylvie Reinhardt from the Order of Sequence! I will not tolerate any evil here. Listen up—drop your weapons now for an investigation, or face d*ath!”
The other person also got off the bike and stood behind Sylvie.
He had long white hair and beautiful red and blue eyes; standing about five feet five, he looked incredibly feminine, though his flat chest revealed he was male.
He was Kanata, another member of the Order of Sequence, tasked with dealing with crimes committed by individuals with special powers.
“Sylvie, let’s not waste time. Let’s finish this quickly and get back.”
The criminals discussed the newcomers.
“Order of Sequence? Those four words sound familiar.”
One of the Star Holders suddenly said, “I know them—they’re as dangerous as us, possessing special powers! Don’t underestimate them!”
An exosuit-clad man asked, “Are they human?”
“Yeah, they’re flesh and bl**d.”
“So it doesn’t matter. If they’re made of flesh, my weapon can splinter them!”
As he aimed his laser cannon, Sylvie and Kanata noticed his energy surge.
Kanata shook his head.
“Sylvie, they’re not willing to talk. Finish it fast.”
“Too bad, I have some respect for life, but if they don’t, then I’ll take away their sinful life.”
“Durendal!”
A white glow appeared, and Sylvie donned the Durendal armor, appearing majestic and divine.
With the armor, a massive sword emerged; even from afar, Night Star and Kong Yu Bai could sense its enormous power.
“Oh wow, this girl Sylvie seems so powerful and young!”
Night Star clearly had great curiosity about this girl.
After all, it’s rare to see foreign Star Holders, especially ones from a law enforcement group. How could Night Star not be curious?
She wondered what their difference from the Night Watchers could be.
At that moment, the exosuit guy finished charging his laser cannon, ready to destroy someone instantly.
“d*e!”
BOOM!
The destructive energy shot toward Sylvie and Kanata, but they remained calm.
Sylvie raised her mysterious sword and slashed the beam in half with ease, splitting it sideways without hitting them.
Seeing this, the criminals froze.
“F*ck! What kind of technology is this?!”
“Not tech, it’s her power! Run, we can’t beat her!”
After the beam vanished, Sylvie frowned slightly.
“Aiming to run, huh? Kanata, help me provide them with a grand exit.”
“Sure thing.”
Kanata activated his Star power.
A halo spread around him, enveloping Sylvie in a strength-enhancing sphere.
Sylvie instantly felt her powers skyrocket.
This was one of Kanata’s Star effects—his strengthening field boosted everyone in it, making them stronger. Conversely, his weakening field made everyone weaker.
However, its biggest downside was that it affected everyone, allies included.
It weakened Star Eclipses, so when close-combat teammates went in, Kanata dare not enter the field unless he could precisely control its range and keep up with high-mobility fighters. Otherwise, the enhancement does nothing in close combat.
Thus, he usually appeared during ranged attacks, avoiding enhancing enemies.
In addition, strengthening and weakening fields couldn’t coexist, limiting their use.
Back to the story.
When Sylvie enhanced by Kanata’s abilities, her presence surged.
She raised her colossal sword, aiming at the criminals fleeing to their vehicle.
“Face the judgment of justice.”
With a chop, her overwhelming sword qi struck the criminals swiftly.
Seeing this, two of the Star Holders used their powers to halt the attack.
But the force dissipated quickly, broken down into microscopic energy particles.
One focused on slowing down, the other on destruction, clearly dividing tasks.
Witnessing this, Sylvie broke free from the field and charged immediately.
Seeing the girl rush forward, the exosuit guy hesitated no longer.
“I’ll cover you, get out first!”
Why should he fear such a youthful-looking girl?!
“Move aside!”
The laser cannon absorbed the tiny energy particles and recharged quickly in rapid fire mode for better mobility against agile targets.
BOOM!
Sylvie skillfully wielded her gigantic sword, slicing through the beams, sending chaotic energy everywhere.
Night Star and Kong Yu Bai found themselves in a less safe spot too.
“Whoa, they’re firing this way!”
Night Star and Kong Yu Bai decided to leave instead of staying around any longer.
They already knew the ending. No point sticking around.
Time to scram.
