Chapter 45: Little Yu Slowly Changing
No matter how Xia Yu refused, Xia Ling still insisted on putting all those cute, adorable trinkets on Xia Yu’s head to see which ones looked good, deciding to keep them if they did. She took it upon herself to be a proper older sister and take care of her younger sister, right?
Before long, Xia Ling picked out a whole bunch of cute and adorable items for both her and Xia Yu: hair clips, squirrel pendants, ribbons, and hair ties. Because there were so many things, Xia Yu had no choice but to help carry them.
Xia Yu, despite feeling very annoyed, ended up helping Xia Ling. Even though she knew some of these items were bought by Xia Ling for her, she didn’t refuse this time because she couldn’t think of an excuse.
Seeing all the trinkets that Xia Yu and Xia Jing brought, the shopkeeper even gave them a beautiful pink bag with flower patterns. Who wouldn’t like cute little girls?
Afterward, maybe feeling a bit awkward seeing Xia Ling buy so many things for her, Xia Yu went ahead and bought two boxes of pure milk in the store…
“Here, take this!” After leaving the store, Xia Yu handed one box of milk to Xia Ling.
When Xia Yu handed her the milk, Xia Ling wasn’t surprised at all. From the moment Xia Yu started buying milk, she knew one would be for her. And indeed, here it was.
Still, after receiving the milk, Xia Ling affectionately ruffled Xia Yu’s hair and said, “Good little sister, you’re so well-behaved!”
Listening to Xia Ling teasingly talk to her, Xia Yu felt kind of awkward and embarrassed. But surprisingly, there was also a hint of happiness in her heart. Is this what it feels like to be cherished? Not bad…
Xia Yu and Xia Ling continued to sip their milk while walking around. Before long, they arrived at the village’s playground.
There were lots of kids playing there. Some boys were playing with firecrackers and toy guns, while some girls were skipping rope or playing hopscotch…
Perhaps because they were tired of walking or didn’t want to go home just yet, Xia Yu and Xia Ling ended up sitting on a long bench provided by the village to rest.
At this point, Xia Ling finally had the chance to take out her newly bought goodies from the bag. Unpacking and wearing them, she placed hair ties on her wrists, treating them like fashionable jewelry.
Xia Yu didn’t say no to Xia Ling’s efforts. While she felt shy about it, she didn’t actually mind. In fact, she found herself quite fond of these pretty trinkets. No idea why, really.
Then, they played a few more games together before leaving to head over to Grandma’s house.
Since there wasn’t much else to do outside, they just wandered around a bit and eventually made their way back.
Actually, there was a TV at Grandma’s house to k*ll some time, but it was tucked away in someone’s bedroom. Plus, Xia Yu’s two cousins and Older Brother Xia Le were hogging it to watch popular cartoons.
Luckily, they were only watching some hot cartoon shows, which Xia Ling also enjoyed. So, she dragged Xia Yu along to join them.
