Chapter 57: The Golden-haired Loli
Night Star and Shu Yao rented a car to Waltonka’s library.
Night Star took a moment to observe the library in front and gave her opinion.
“Hmm, it feels a bit smaller than the one in Qi Yuan City, but still pretty big. I bet there are tons of books inside.”
“Let’s go in.”
Shu Yao led Night Star into the library, as if she was already prepared to spend hours reading there.
Night Star held Shu Yao’s hand and asked, “Can Shu Yao understand the books here? They all seem to be in English.”
“Do you think I’ve only read Chinese books before? I’ve been familiar with English for ages.”
“Mm, that makes sense.”
Shu Yao might look young and act like a bossy older sister, but her age is unknown. She probably knows about everything.
Anyway, Night Star hasn’t spent much time with Shu Yao in a while.
She’s been busy until now, finally getting a chance to get closer to Shu Yao.
Night Star and Shu Yao headed to the map section of the library, where they could easily find categories of books without needing any staff help.
Night Star can’t focus on anything too serious; light and funny stuff suits her better.
“Shu Yao, let’s split up and find our own books. We’ll meet back here later.”
Night Star pointed to a nearby table; it was deserted and quiet, perfect for reading.
“Yeah,” Shu Yao nodded lightly, then separated from Night Star.
Night Star moved toward another bookshelf.
She expected to spend most of the day at the library this time.
Since they would be spending long hours here, she figured she should collect more books.
No need to keep getting up every five minutes.
One trip through the entire library should do the trick.
Night Star approached a new bookshelf and noticed the electronic facilities next to it.
Press a button, and a robotic arm would fetch books for you. Perfect!
But then, something caught her eye some distance away.
“Hmm?”
She turned her head towards the other shelves.
There was a tiny girl there, also looking for books. A loli, no doubt?
Night Star could clearly see how cute the loli was with her golden, wavy hair, delicate profile, and petite figure.
This loli seems interested in books too?
Night Star was curious but didn’t approach.
Despite being a loli collector, she’s not one to just randomly approach people.

Night Star didn’t disturb Shu Yao, who was already engrossed in her reading. She sat across from her and began flipping through the pages herself.
Time passed slowly.
Not too long after…
A tiny figure brushed past Night Star. The golden, shining hair made her take notice.
Just now, this golden-haired loli walked by carrying a stack of around fifteen books, so high that it almost hid her view.
Still, she placed them neatly at the desk next to Night Star.
Night Star blinked in surprise.
Is this loli really that hardworking?
Remembering the type of shelf she was at, Night Star guessed these were history books. So, this loli is likely researching historical stuff.
Night Star almost saw a rising historian.

What others read is none of her business. Back to her own books!
She turned back to focus on her newfound passion for knowledge.
The loli next to her flipped through her books, searching for something.
Time ticked by.
The golden loli sighed sadly and shut one of her books.
“Sigh… Still can’t find anything.”
Her mumbling grew frustrated.
“Why is it so hard to find information on the Demon King? And why is there barely anything about the Holy Church either? These books must be fake!”
She whispered softly, even if someone was sitting beside her; they wouldn’t hear, only she would.
But suddenly, Night Star perked up her ears.
“Demon King? Holy Church?”
As a holder of the stars, her hearing was strong.
Not superhuman, but she could hear pretty well a few meters away.
For the loli next to her to mention those terms… How odd.
She pondered briefly and recalled.
Is this that time line where the group leader went dark?
Does that little loli know about it?
Curiosity got the best of her.
Quickly, she stood up with her books and sat down beside the golden loli.
“Hello. Can we chat?”
“Huh?”
The golden loli noticed someone approaching her unexpectedly!
And the newcomer looked her age, another cute girl.
Though it was odd; the loli had an Eastern face. Foreigner?
“Who are you?”
“Forget about me. Can I ask your name? I heard you talking earlier, mentioning the Demon King and the Holy Church.”
“What? You heard me!?”
The golden loli jumped up abruptly and spoke louder than necessary.
Night Star signaled her to tone it down.
“Shh, the library’s quiet zone.”
“Ugh…”
The loli blushed and sat back down, cheeks warming up.
She remembered being warned not to talk about it.
If anyone found out, bad things would happen.
Despite her curiosity, she kept it to herself.
So much for keeping secrets.
Night Star found the loli adorable.
But enough with the cuteness for now. It’s time for questions.
“The Demon King and Holy Church – I might know something. That’s why I came over. And don’t worry, I’m not here to harm you. Look at me, do I look like a bad guy?”
Night Star used her trademark cuteness to break the ice.
