Chapter 63: Fate
There’s no longer any reason for Night Star to stick around at Lulu Lana’s place.
She planned to leave and return to the library to read with Book Yao.
“Since you already know what this book is about, I might as well tell you about the Demon King. Then I can head back.”
“Do you want to stay for dinner? You can play here a bit longer too.”
Lulu Lana was reluctant to let her go.
After all, given that Night Star seemed to know a lot, she might reveal more interesting details if asked further.
“Nah.”
Night Star shook her head.
“You can ask your family for more info. They might give in if you pout a little.”
“Oh, then I’ll see you off!”
Lulu Lana didn’t insist, but rather left the room with Night Star and eventually the villa.
“Shall I ask the butler to escort you?”
“No need! I’ve got my ways home.”
At the door, Night Star waved goodbye to Lulu Lana and walked away without looking back.
Lulu Lana watched until Night Star was out of sight.
“Au… weekend…”
Lulu Lana thought back on everything Night Star said as she looked forward to the weekend ahead.
Who knew what would happen?
Wow, so exciting!
Lulu Lana turned around, ready to return to the villa.
No point going to the library anymore. Initially, her goal was to find clues about the Demon King. But having learned everything from Night Star, she could do something else with these times.
Like figuring out how to act cute in front of mom so she can spill more info.
Just as she thought this, Lulu Lana heard some noise and saw a flying car approaching. It was mom’s.
Lulu Lana stood aside to wait, and soon the car parked nearby. A mature blonde woman stepped out.
Lulu Lana rushed over.
“Mom~ Why come back so early today? You usually return at night.”
“Because I have no work today, so decided to get back early to spend time with you.”
Lulu Lana jumped into the blonde woman’s arms, who gently patted her head.
“How’s my girl?”
Then, Mom asked, “Lulu Lana, did I hear correctly that you brought a friend home? Where is she now?”
“She just left.”
“Was she someone you met at school?”
Lulu Lana shook slightly.
“No, we just met today.”
The blonde woman frowned and quickly relaxed.
“Where did you meet her?”
“At the library.”
“Did she bring you here herself?”
Lulu Lana finally caught on.
Mom might be concerned about meeting dubious characters.
But Lulu Lana wasn’t one to be taken advantage of. Though innocent, she could distinguish good from bad by heart.
“Nope! She came willingly. And she wouldn’t hurt me. She’s a good person.”
“That’s a relief.”
Although saying this, blonde Mom had her doubts.
This was no peaceful era. And considering Lulu Lana’s highborn status, people might not approach her innocently.
Well, she’d better meet this new friend soon—see how things go.
With a resolve, blonde Mom released Lulu Lana and patted her back, ready to take her back to the villa.
At that moment, something odd caught her attention.
“Hold on.”
“Mom?”
“Stay still.”
“Okay.”
Mom placed her hand on Lulu Lana’s chest and began to sense. She opened her eyes suddenly, visibly surprised.
“Is she… awakened?”
“What are you talking about?”
Lulu Lana was confused; she didn’t understand a thing.
Blonde Mom’s face turned complicated.
“Sweetie, guess I need to share a few truths.”
“What’s up?”
“Better head back first.”
Lulu Lana nodded, her curiosity piqued.
She hadn’t even started acting cute yet.
Night Star said her family might have many secrets. Lulu Lana wanted to know too.
She had been ready to act cute and beg for insider facts.
Unexpectedly, Mom spoke of her own accord.
However, Lulu Lana wasn’t quite sure.
Wouldn’t hurt to look forward to it a bit.
*
In another scene.
Night Star appeared inside the library.
She had arrived here through the Theater Door after leaving Lulu Lana’s house.
Places visited by members of the theater group automatically stored coordinates.
And here was where Night Star found her previous book.
Good as nobody was around, she returned seamlessly.
“Mmm… Is Book Yao still here?”
She murmured this while walking back to the last section and found Book Yao silently reading.
Not surprising, she left only a short while ago, not more than an hour, far from nightfall.
The only odd part was that books on the table were now beside Lulu Lana.
Could she have checked those books?
Night Star tiptoed closer to Book Yao.
“Big sis Book Yao, I’m back.”
“Mm, welcome back.”
Book Yao pushed books back to Night Star’s original spot.
Night Star sat across and asked curiously, “Were you reading the book I was looking for?”
“Yes, quite interesting.”
“Not too childish.”
Night Star took a breath and resumed reading.
Then quietly, Book Yao asked, “Who was the girl you went home with?”
She naturally noticed them leaving together earlier, didn’t want to bother Night Star then.
Now returning, the question was timely for Book Yao.
Night Star answered honestly:
“New acquaintance, has some ties with our Rising Sun Theater. So I went to check her out.”
“I see, alright?”
“Yeah, no problem. Without any mishap, looks like she might be joining us soon as an audience member. See if she turns up for the show at weekend.”
“Really?”
Night Star displayed a cute grin.
Lulu Lana’s special interest aside, her connection with the group’s leader might draw her in for a tour of the theater.
After all, Night Star promised her this possibility.
Of course, provided Lulu Lana takes on the viewer’s role properly.
If she doesn’t care for the shows, then clearly no more chances for her.
