Chapter 490

Chapter 77: The Concert’s Grand Finale

What did Mo Rabbit find?

A wild clown, oh boy~

It seems to be an assassin targeting the Songstress Qing Liao, getting way too close for comfort. He’s also holding some intriguing little gadget. It’s quite likely he’ll succeed if they aren’t stopped.

This situation has at least a fifty percent chance of going south.

Unfortunately, he definitely didn’t expect that the person behind him wasn’t just an ordinary audience member but actually part of the Rising Sun Theater Group.

Almost all the Star Eclipses.

Even Songstress Qing Liao’s good friend, Night Star, and Empty Rain White were in attendance.

Under Empty Rain White’s ability, he remained completely oblivious to anything out of the ordinary and only had eyes for Songstress Qing Liao, searching for the perfect moment to strike.

Since this chap is a plain old human with no Star vibes, whatever device he had in his hand was probably brought in by someone else without being detected before activation.

Thus, nobody suspected him.

Not even Night Star noticed the nearby assassin; she was just waving her support stick for Qing Liao.

If not for the superior divination skills of Mo Rabbit, the assassin might have gone unnoticed.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk~”

Instead of letting some litle loli absorbed in the tunes know, Mo Rabbit decides to handle it herself.

She extends her arm, ready to tap the guy on the shoulder, but alas, her hand is too short to reach.

Embarrassing.

“…”

So she stands up closer and can then finally touch him.

The assassin notices someone touching his shoulder, whirls around, and finds a short raven-haired girl smirking as if he should have known better.

Who is she?

Why is she touching me?

Could she have figured something out?!

Mo Rabbit softly says, “Don’t disturb the performance, okay? Or everyone will get angry, got it?”

“You!!”

The assassin’s pupils dilate as he realizes he’s been made. But before he could react, the environment around them changes dramatically.

In an instant, he finds himself no longer in the bustling, loud concert venue, but in a dim and eerie theater.

“Where the heck is this!?”

As fear creeps into the assassin’s mind, the girl’s voice echoes nearby.

“Hmm~ dragging you here seems messy now that I think about it. If anyone finds out I brought a non-member or non-audience person into our sanctums, they’ll definitely give me trouble. So we need to end this quick.”

“Who are you!?”

The assassin spins around, but sees nobody.

Once again, the setting shifts. This time, he finds himself atop a city high-rise. From here, the cityscape is clearly visible.

But right now, the view is the last thing on his mind because suddenly, he realizes he’s standing right on the edge of the building. One tiny misstep and he’s history!

This scenario has already overwhelmed the poor guy.

Yet before he can make any move to step back, he feels something push him from behind, losing balance and spiraling downward.

In his final moments, he casts one last glance at the rooftop, hoping to see who’s responsible for his imminent demise, but to no avail.

Then, in his mind, emerges the image of the black-haired girl that tapped his shoulder.

Is it her?

Boom!

The assassin hits the ground and dies on impact.

Mo Rabbit returns to the concert, unnoticed by everyone except Night Star, who remains preoccupied with cheering.

Despite agreeing earlier to protect Qing Liao, Night Star hadn’t even noticed the assassin right beside her, relying instead on Mo Rabbit’s intervention.

Sigh~

But Mo Rabbit doesn’t seek recognition—after all, it was a relatively minor affair.

The concert goes on smoothly.

Today’s attempt to target Songstress Qing Liao was thwarted almost entirely due to the influence of the Rising Sun Theater Group—reduced to nearly one percent.

Not everyone can sneak harmful items into a concert, obviously.

With one downed assassin, there’s no further trouble.

Just a small glitch.

Backstage,

Tifureka’s homicidal urges gradually dissipate, settling into calm.

The nine assassins are wiped out effortlessly; they barely stood a chance.

They were only a match for those lowly hired Star Holders.

Being a Holy Knight, Tifureka—one of the top experts, easily handles them without much effort.

Soon the others arrive and witness her work.

“Wow, so strong!”

Tifureka, unimpressed, leaves without a word.

“Catch the rest,” she orders.

Everyone starts cleaning up the scene, including members of the Night Hunt.

He Li Xia stares dumbfounded.

“Is this how a Saint Knight from the Order of Sequence works? They’re incredible. Seems like she could take us all down singlehandedly.”

Claire shakes his head.

“There’s no need. Another lesser Knight from the same Order could do the same.”

“They really made us look bad,” complains He Li Xia.

“But other groups aren’t much different. No reason to feel inferior,” comforts Claire.

Meanwhile, Noya glances at her g*n, recalling Tifureka’s imposing presence, and sighs helplessly.

No contest.

The scene shifts back to the concert.

With Qing Liao singing one song after another, the concert edges towards its finale.

The last song ends, and hours of performance culminate beautifully.

All the listeners shout Qing Liao’s name, fervently passionate.

That’s the allure of a world-renowned Songstress.

Night Star gets swept up in the excitement too.

She joins the chant, mirroring other fans.

Great concert, indeed!

Qing Liao breathes a sigh of relief, addressing the crowd.

“Thank you for coming to my show. Your support fuels my music. I promise to share more with you. Please keep supporting me! Thank you!”

“Ah-ha!!”

Qing Liao smiles as if relieved, looking toward a specific section of the audience.

She spots Night Star cheering and applauding for her, very enthusiastic.

Kong Yu Bai stands beside Night Star, nodding in agreement despite her composed demeanor.

To be supported by someone of equal caliber, Qing Liao can’t help feeling proud.

No wonder.

Suddenly, Qing Liao notices Night Star making a gesture; it looks like signaling a hotel meeting.

“Yeah.”

Qing Liao nods subtly and departs the stage.

The concert-goers disperse soon after.

Rising Sun Theater Group members return to the theater unseen, like ghosts, vanishing without a trace.

Only Qing Liao notices Night Star and Kong Yu Bai.
