Chapter 87: Hurry Up and Get Stronger!
Hilo suddenly heard Night Star mumbling to himself.
“Dream Narrator?”
“Yeah! I’ve met him,” Night Star said, preparing to get cozy.
As they say, one more friend means one less enemy.
It’s essential to keep a good relationship with Hilo.
For instance, he’s a follower of the Origin of the Stars and is part of the First Generation Star Eclipses, with a wealth of experience and plenty of power to boot.
Befriending someone like him could be beneficial; having connections with someone in the Star Eclipses is still a connection!
Hilo seemed intrigued by what Night Star said about the Dream Narrator.
“What’s he up to now?”
“The Dream Narrator? He’s probably wandering around—almost everywhere.”
“So, he’s the one who gave you my info?”
Hilo interrupted Night Star mid-sentence, making him pause.
“Yeah…”
“You’ve got his power aura on you.”
“Umm…”
“What kind of deal did you make?”
“I promised him a wish, and he told me everything I wanted to know!”
In just a few words, Night Star spilled all this info willingly.
Hilo was clearly in charge here, with his silent expression making it impossible for Night Star to refuse answering.
This made Night Star feel like she had an obligation to reply.
They weren’t even on the same level!
Hilo continued.
“His wish?”
“To find the Origin of the Stars…”
“You can’t do that,” Hilo said bluntly, seemingly seeing through Night Star’s facade.
Night Star’s face turned red immediately.
“I-I’ll definitely be able to do it later!”
She started mumbling things like “newbie stage” and “future looks bright,” which made the air in the theater suddenly lively.
“Even though my mental power is low now, I’ll absolutely grow stronger and make it happen! And you, Hilo, can wish something from me too; I’ll help you out later!”
“I’m not good at waiting.”
Night Star choked on Hilo’s statement.
“So you just want to take my Wish Machine and wish for your own power, huh?”
Night Star looked a little pitiful.
Hilo nodded honestly, not hiding his thoughts at all.
But Night Star wasn’t in the mood for trading, and suddenly found herself in a dead end.
At that moment, the Gentleman stepped forward and said politely, “Mr. Hilo has come from afar; how about we sit down and chat properly? If you have the time, we could even put on a wonderful show for you.”
“No need.”
Hilo quickly refused, as if devoid of any emotion.
Everyone could tell; his tone now was completely different from the one he used with Night Star—clearly treating them differently.
Night Star began to have her suspicions.
Although the intel said Hilo was friendly to humans, that didn’t necessarily apply to his own kind.
Hilo’s intentions were clear—since he couldn’t achieve his goal, there was no need to be in a good mood.
For certain reasons, he wouldn’t force a trade with Night Star either.
“I’m leaving.”
Since a deal couldn’t be made, Hilo had no reason to stay in the theater.
Night Star asked little.
“Where will you go after leaving?”
“I’ll stay here for a while.”
“Hmm?”
“Trading.”
Hilo briefly satisfied Night Star’s curiosity and turned to leave through the Theater Door.
Night Star and the others didn’t stop him; they just watched him go.
Once Hilo’s figure disappeared inside the theater, Night Star let out a breath.
“Phew~ So that’s the pressure brought by the First Generation Star Eclipses? So intense…”
The Group Leader added his two cents.
“Indeed, deep and unfathomable, the same kind as us. Luckily, he had no intentions of clashing with us; otherwise, even I might not be able to defeat him.”
“Totally normal~” Night Star thought this was entirely reasonable.
After all, the current Group Leader was a super powerhouse; although he had shown extraordinary combat abilities before, he appeared to be much more restrained now, almost like he had downgraded.
Meanwhile, Hilo was someone who had once followed the Origin of the Stars, was among the first Star Holders, part of the First Generation Star Eclipses, and was, of course, the highest caliber of Supernova.
Even if the “decent to all” behavior leaned toward the eccentric type of Star Eclipses, he was still not to be trifled with.
The fight might not even start before the Group Leader would have already lost.
Forcing exchanges like that is a skill that breaks the rules.
Who knows? Before the fights even kicked off, Hilo might have swapped his opponent’s combat abilities for something worthless.
Supernova-level Star Eclipses are practically a bug-like existence, capable of destruction not limited to violence.
Night Star’s Wish Machine was just like that.
But it seemed a bit unfair for the Wish Machine to be following Night Star around.
It was her presence that limited the Wish Machine’s potential; otherwise, they could have easily breezed through challenges by now.
No more being a lazy fish.
“I guess I really need to grow stronger.”
Night Star was determined not to be stagnant; she needed to at least catch up with the theater members and become a more impressive Audience Performer.
That was her current goal!
Hurry up and get stronger, kora!
Scene shift.
Hilo appeared on a high point in the city.
Even though he didn’t obtain that all-powerful Wish Machine, he wouldn’t feel discouraged.
The so-called search for the Origin of the Stars was just one of his obsessions.
There were other things to do, namely trading with humans.
Exchanging various items with humans brought him some fun, satisfying him to a certain degree; that’s why he was always so keen on this sort of thing.
His legit trade range included all humans—good, evil, or anything in between—as long as they were human, they could trade with him.
Some people wanted great strength.
Okay.
Hilo could grant that, offering something of equal value for a fair trade.
Some wanted vast wealth.
That’s fine too.
As long as they could bring something to the table, he could fulfill that wish.
He didn’t care what those people would do after they traded; he wasn’t responsible for any after-sales service.
Whether it was destruction, redemption, chaos, or ruin, it was all none of his business.
He was just a merchant who wouldn’t cheat the old or the young.
So, the question is:
Who should he look for next to trade?
Let’s see who has the biggest desire deep down inside.
…
Scene back to Lulu Lana’s room.
She was chatting with Night Star.
It seemed Hilo and she hadn’t had any conflict, which was the best outcome for Lulu Lana.
Just as Lulu Lana was thinking about having Night Star take her to the theater to play, a message from the maid startled her slightly.
“Miss, the lady has returned.”
Yes, Lulu Lana’s mother was back.
“I see.”
Lulu Lana had to put her plans to visit the theater on hold and go out to greet her returning mother.
“Mother~ How has work been lately?”
“Busy, but okay. I took a moment to come back and see you. Have you been good lately?”
“Absolutely well-behaved; I haven’t run off anywhere!”
At least on the surface, Lulu Lana had been staying in her room, not going outside at all.
She kept her promise and didn’t spill Night Star’s secret or even mention Hilo.
The Blonde Woman smiled slightly, wanting to pick Lulu Lana up.
But in such a close touch, she sensed something unusual.
Why had Lulu Lana’s mental power increased so dramatically?
