Chapter 6: The Assistant
The Rising Sun Theater welcomes audiences but really doesn’t need a second “Audience Performer.”
That’s basically the situation.
Unless she could radiate the same passion for performance as an Audience Performer and inspire all members of the theater group like a motivational guru, only then could the new member secure a place in the troupe.
But since she was invited by an Audience Performer, the other group members wouldn’t have too much to say about it.
Meanwhile, those in the know started speculating.
Was the new member the recently saved Star Sheng or Shiyu Qianyi?
After all, they were the latest friends of Night Lan.
And considering their backstory as Star Eclipses, although redeemed, they might be a bit out of touch with the times and unable to adapt to the current situation.
So, it was possible that Night Lan was sneaking them into the Rising Sun Theater.
At least a few, like Kong Yu Bai, thought so.
But they guessed wrong.
Night Star Lan stood on stage and made a wish.
“Let the Wish Princess descend into reality.”
Right after that, beautiful twinkling lights appeared around the two, eventually coalescing into a petite figure.
With long hair that was a mix of black and white, and eyes that transitioned from red to blue, she had Night Star Lan’s face—indeed, it was the star incarnation, the Wish Princess!
The theater troupe members stared at the third “Audience Performer” that had suddenly appeared, astonished.
“A third… Audience Performer?”
“What on earth is happening?”
“This is quite unexpected.”
The Announcer, sitting in the audience, locked her eyes on the third loli on stage, already guessing her true identity.
“An Extraordinary Star materialized… manifesting in the form of a sentient being… this is just madness.”
If the Night Watchers’ researchers found out about this, they would be shocked and driven insane.
But Mo Rabbit felt this should just be a one-off.
If all stars could manifest in reality, it would be complete chaos.
Only the Wish Machine could pull off something like this.
Mo Rabbit pulled her thoughts back, not daring to divine the situation of the Wish Princess.
As if!
Divining a Supernova is hard enough; if she tried to divine the Wish Machine’s true form, wouldn’t she just be asking for trouble?
Until she understood things thoroughly, Mo Rabbit didn’t dare cross any lines.
Finding amusement ought to come with a guarantee of safety.
Who knows if the Wish Machine incarnation understands the nuances of human relationships?
Back to the stage.
Night Star Lan was ecstatic to see the Wish Princess really appear.
But this wasn’t the time to be excited; she needed to introduce her to the other troupe members.
“Cough cough~ Let me introduce you all. This is the Wish Princess. Though she looks like me, we’re not the same person. Since she’s joining the theater group, she needs a code name. Hmm, let’s see…”
Night Star Lan nodded in contemplation.
She was terrible at naming. It might take her a while to come up with something.
Redemptor?
Since some members were relying on the Wish Machine’s power for redemption, Night Star Lan thought of this.
But…
That didn’t quite fit.
The behavior of rescuing the troupe members was Night Star Lan’s will.
Only if she wanted it would the Wish Princess provide support.
If the Wish Princess were named Redemptor, it would feel like stealing Night Star Lan’s “revolutionary” achievements (fog).
“Redemptor” sounded more fitting for Night Star instead.
After racking her brain, all Night Star Lan could come up with were two words.
“Let’s call you Assistant. Starting today, the Wish Princess is the troupe’s [Assistant]!”
Of course, in a way, the Wish Princess could only be the Audience Performer’s assistant.
The Group Leader led the applause, and the other members gave a light clap to welcome the Assistant into the fold.
They had a rough idea of who the Assistant was.
If this was the manifestation of the power to save other members, even without acting skills, she would hold an irreplaceable position in the troupe.
The welcome ceremony quickly wrapped up.
Next came the rehearsal time.
The Wish Machine was just the [Assistant], so there was no need for her to step onto the stage. She could slack off like any other Audience Performer.
Of course, slacking off wasn’t just limited to her; the Announcer Mo Rabbit was doing her own share of lounging.
She didn’t leave immediately but sized up the Wish Princess beside Night Star Lan.
“This really is an unexpected turn of events.”
Still, no matter how curious Mo Rabbit was, she wouldn’t dare get close.
After all, that’s the incarnation of an Extraordinary Star—the one responsible for turning her into a loli!
Mo Rabbit was brave enough to tease Night Star Lan, but the Wish Princess?
Better not to poke at that bear.
A little while later.
The Wish Princess’s figure began to fade, seemingly returning to Night Star Lan’s body.
“Ugh~ Don’t want to stay out too long?”
Night Star Lan guessed the Wish Princess’s intention.
After all, the only reason she descended into reality was due to Night Star Lan’s wish.
For the Wish Princess, there wasn’t anything in the real world worth caring about—only those two loli hosts would attract her interest.
She wouldn’t stick around long, maybe only coming out when Night Star Lan felt lonely for some cuddles.
Night Star Lan didn’t push for anything.
Anyway, letting the Wish Princess join the troupe was just a formality to make it less surprising when she popped out later.
Mm.
Night Star Lan was looking forward to the feeling of sleeping in a bed with three lolis.
And taking baths together, too.
Could other Star Holders do that? (echoing voice)
Highly unlikely~
A short time later, the troupe members wrapped up their daily practice.
The members stepped off the stage, gathered around Night Star Lan in the audience.
At this stage, it was mostly about professionals refining the performance.
The playwright mainly tweaked some details to maintain consistency with the script.
However, the members of the troupe were all top-notch, with very few blunders occurring.
So this time turned into simple exchanges between members.
That’s not bad; it at least cleared up the theater’s gloomy atmosphere a bit.
If there hadn’t even been a little bit of harmonious banter, it would have been appropriate to rename it the Underworld Theater.
Sitting behind Night Star were the Gentleman and the Fraudster.
Unable to resist, Night Star turned around to chat with them.
“Speaking of which… Gentlemen, your acting skills are getting better and better. You weren’t even meant to be an actor at the start.”
Night Star remembered it clearly.
When she first joined the troupe, the Gentleman’s role was more like a security guard maintaining order during performances.
If someone acted up, the Gentleman would show them what manners were really about.
Getting a bit rude would lead to a serious headache—something no human could handle.
In the early days, whenever the Night Watchers came to confront the Rising Sun Theater, they always got the worst of it with the Gentleman, who was a real thorn in their side.
However, as more troupe members performed, the Gentleman’s significance began to fade, and all eyes shifted to the Audience Performers, thus leading him to gradually become less noticed.
Now that the troupe could perform freely outdoors, very few dared to disrupt them, and the Gentleman’s primary role was diminishing over time.
Truth is, the role of “security” seemed unnecessary now.
So the Gentleman must have decided to explore other roles.
Now, he was an actor in the troupe too!
