Chapter 436: The Inquiry
In the bustling town of Quirktown, where everyone had a peculiar hobby, there was a grand event that everyone was chattering about — the Annual Inquiry Contest! It was the one day of the year when people gathered to ask the most ridiculous questions imaginable.
As the sun rose, illuminating the town’s oversized rubber duck statue, our hero, Max, donned his most flamboyant outfit. His cape, which he claimed had magical properties, was actually just an old tablecloth — but let’s not ruin the magic for him.
“Today is the day I shall uncover the truth!” he declared dramatically, striking a pose that would make even the fiercest of superheroes roll their eyes. His best friend, Lily, rolled her eyes right on cue.
“Max, the only truth you’re going to uncover is how many people think your cape looks ridiculous,” she quipped, adjusting her oversized glasses that were almost as big as her face.
Ignoring her comment, Max ran to the town square where contestants were lining up to ask their questions. There were people dressed as everything from pizza slices to random farm animals, because why not? It was Quirktown!
Suddenly, a loud voice boomed over the crowd. “Welcome, everyone, to the Annual Inquiry Contest! Let’s begin with our first contestant!” The voice belonged to the mayor, who was wearing a tuxedo made entirely of bubble wrap.
Max’s heart raced as he waited for his turn. “What’s the weirdest question I can come up with?” he thought, his mind racing faster than a hamster on a wheel powered by caffeine.
Finally, it was his turn. He strutted up to the microphone, cleared his throat, and asked, “If a llama can wear a sombrero, does that mean it’s a certified party animal?”
The crowd erupted in laughter, but Max wasn’t done yet. “And if so, how many tacos would it take to make it the life of the fiesta?” The laughter grew even louder, and someone in the back yelled, “Only if it dances the macarena!”
The mayor, giggling like a child, pointed at Max. “You, my friend, have just won the title of Most Absurd Inquiry of the Day!”
Max grinned so wide you’d think he just met a lifetime supply of cotton candy. Victory tasted sweet, like pancakes with syrup — and maybe a side of extra whipped cream.
As he walked off with his shiny trophy (which was actually a gold-painted potato), he couldn’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, asking silly questions was the key to happiness in a town filled with peculiarities. And as the sun set over Quirktown, Max knew one thing for sure: tomorrow’s inquiry would be even sillier.
