Chapter 37: Noble Judge Meeting
The youth named Ulysses was actually burdened by someone else’s obsession.
The deceased leader of the performance troupe entrusted him with the task of carrying on the troupe’s legacy.
But apart from Ulysses, the other members had long since scattered, leaving him alone on the stage.

Those who commit crimes should not be allowed to roam free afterward.
Performing in such a dreadful environment felt suffocating to Ulysses.
Perhaps once he accomplished these two tasks, he would be able to let go of everything and get back to the stage.

News spread like wildfire in the noble circles.
A rare Noble Meeting was about to commence.
Rumor had it that several nobles had joined forces to report the improprieties of certain nobles, which seriously damaged their dignity and involved all sorts of complicated incidents, making it sufficient for the judges to determine their noble status.
The noble circle became a buzz of excitement.
Many were discussing the matter.

As long as the Noble Judge received enough evidence and votes, those reported nobles would be doomed.
Ulysses had collected all the evidence long ago; only the voting figures were left.
In ordinary cases, using this method to lower a noble’s status was quite difficult.

Given this context, using votes to oust nobles seemed less effective than simply slandering them into disgrace.
But Ulysses could pull it off.
He had fraudulently garnered the support of many nobles.
If just one noble he had deceived voted against the others, he would be well on his way to achieving his goals.
Unfortunately, Sharon was unaware of this whole scheme.
Night Lan hadn’t told her yet.
“While it might just be a farce with no real outcome, it’ll definitely provide topics for tea parties. It’d be even better if they could be ousted. Anyway, Hughes said these nobles are obstacles to reforming thoughts,” she said.
The nobles opposing Hughes weren’t just the War Merit Nobles, but also those old nobles sticking to their rotten ways.
Those old nobles ignored the so-called gentlemanly conduct and continued to tarnish the noble reputation with their wrongdoings.
Hughes had long used his connections to deal with them.
Just hadn’t found an opportunity yet.

“Oh, I see. What a shame.”
Night Lan let out a light sigh.
As for Night Star.
Ulysses mentioned he would sneak into the Noble Meeting to witness his enemies getting their comeuppance, relishing their faces, which would look as if the sky had fallen down.
Initially, Night Star wanted to tag along for the fun, but Ulysses didn’t plan to take her with him.
Because this was the final step, nearly foolproof.
Night Star only needed to help him clean up the mess after the Noble Meeting.
The end of the Noble Meeting wasn’t the finish line; there were plenty of issues to tackle afterward.
However, Ulysses would take Cursed Bird along, letting her stay on stand-by in the vicinity.
They said it was just in case.

Taking Cursed Bird but not her?
This was a grudge Night Star would remember!
In the end, Night Star could only cooperate, planning to wait for Ulysses to return.
She had to trust Ulysses.

The venue for the Noble Meeting resembled a courtroom.
Not many people were present, just a handful of noble representatives.
The noble representatives sat below, while the Noble Judge sat at the top, casting a stern gaze at the accused nobles.

An individual noble’s trial typically didn’t happen.

Among the noble representatives, a formally dressed young man sat at the edge of the area, unnoticed by anyone.
It was Ulysses without his mask, now dressed like a noble, plus the effect of [Concept Interference], blending in among the nobles wasn’t hard at all.
