### Chapter 26: Synchronization Complete
Before one knew it, Lan Feng Su Yu had arrived at her destination.
“Where are they?”
She looked around wildly and spotted a distinguished-looking black-haired man a short distance away. His golden eyes were slightly puzzled as he observed her.
The black-haired man seemed to have noticed her too. He waved to her.
“Is this him…?” murmured Lan Feng Su Yu, walking over.
“Hello there.”
“Hi. You must be Lan Feng Su Yu, right?”
“Yeah,” she sat down opposite Mo Tu, eyeing him curiously. It was mainly due to how young this black-haired man appeared compared to his age.
In her eyes, all Sunlight-grade Night Watchers should be seasoned veterans with a mature aura, like Yao Can who gave an instant strong impression. Chi Hao and Yan Que fit that mold too.
Yet the black-haired man she saw exuded a warm, big bro vibe, friendly and handsome without a hint of intimidating pressure.
“Are you a Night Watcher as impressive as our boss?”
“I’m even better than him,” Mo Tu said, as if stating the obvious.
“Huh?” Lan Feng Su Yu was confused.
Before she could process it, Mo Tu continued, “Enough with pointless small talk. Let’s get to the point. I heard you’re looking after Night Lan, right?”
“Uh-huh.”
Lan Feng Su Yu nodded, not understanding why Mo Tu mentioned adorable Night Lan.
Mo Tu folded his hands on the table and smiled, “I want you to ask her some things for me.”
“What do you want to know?”
“Some stuff about her Star. It might be related to a Supernova Star Eclipse.”
“Okay…”
Lan Feng Su Yu clenched her fist under her chin, mulling it over.
“Any issues?”
“Well… yeah, actually. Why don’t you ask yourself?”
“Well… probably because I’m a bit shy.”
“But you’re not shy talking to me, but shy when it comes to a little girl? Huh?”
“…”
Mo Tu was left speechless by her question.
Blind spot detected, young lady.
Looks like I can’t just brush this off.
“Meh, don’t worry about the details. Just do what I say.”
“Yeah, okay.”
Yao Can said to follow the Night Watcher’s lead, so she just nodded.
“Good. You can go now. Just make sure not to tell her I sent you. Pretend it’s out of your own curiosity.”
“Got it.” Lan Feng Su Yu nodded and stood up, leaving.
Mo Tu watched the scene lazily and chuckled, taking a sip of coffee. But he immediately frowned.
“Ugh… I still can’t stand this super bitter drink.”
He put down the cup, adding spoonful after spoonful of sugar. Back against the chair, deep in thought.
This was a critical moment. On the surface, it seemed logical to come clean with Night Lan or Night Star. They’d provide more precise clues.
But Mo Tu considered himself someone motivated by personal interest above all else. The fun came from maintaining his hidden role—controlling everything from behind the scenes.
Besides…
If his future self found out he messed up the plan over something trivial, he’d probably call him a moron.
Since it’s the same person…
There’s no way Mo Tu would betray his future self. Fooling oneself is just plain silly.
“Heh, we’re almost synchronized with my future thoughts. Let’s see what the last piece is.”
…
Upon returning to the shop, Lan Feng Su Yu found Night Lan still there, quietly.
“Night Lan, let’s head back.”
“Hmm? Oh, alright.”
Night Lan hopped down from her chair, lightly moving beside Lan Feng Su Yu.
“Hey, where were you earlier?”
“Just meeting a colleague. Nothing major.”
“I see.”
Seeing Night Lan’s innocent expression made Lan Feng Su Yu feel guilty for hiding something from such a cute little loli.
They returned to their dormitory.
Lan Feng Su Yu began asking questions based on Mo Tu’s instructions.
“Come to think of it, Night Lan’s Star is called the ‘Wish Machine,’ right?”
“Yeah, I think so.”
“If it’s called that, it should grant wishes, right? Have you used it to wish for anything?”
“Mm…”
Night Lan nodded slowly, recalling her first wish to become a really fast and cute girl while being the perfect pillow—a definite no-go.
But the second one was fine!
“I didn’t know how to use Stars at first, but I accidentally saved a good friend! Actually, I healed a friend named Bai Yu. She was broken in a terrible way, so I helped her. When I finally introduced her to her mom, despite losing her mom, she improved physically. It felt awful.”
From elation to sadness, Night Lan felt like she was getting stabbed.
But just as depression crept in, a warm sensation enveloped her, soothing her.
“So that’s what happened.”
Lan Feng Su Yu’s expression softened and she patted Night Lan’s head, “Looks like you tried hard.”
To change the mood, she switched topics.
“So, what wish brought you here?”
“To fix a friend’s puppet.”
“Puppet?” Lan Feng Su Yu asked quizzically.
Listening nearby, Mo Tu paused his drumming fingers to focus fully.
Night Lan revealed, “My friend’s puppet was ruined. She was sad, so I wanted to repair it. However, I didn’t know how to, initially. Then the neighbor next door said only I could fix it. Strange. So I decided to try fixing it with my Star’s power and ended up here.”
Mo Tu immediately surmised who the neighbor was.
“So that’s how much trust this loli had in me back then? Not bad, me.”
He instantly became his future self, which oddly amused him.
On another front.
Lan Feng Su Yu inquired, “What strange thing did the neighbor say?”
“Mmph… That’s what he said.”
Night Lan mimicked his tone, incorporating her responses:
“Can you handle the responsibility after fixing it?”
“In other words, if repairing it caused a horrific disaster, would you still do it?”
“You should do it; though you may face some difficulties, I believe you can.”
After saying that, Night Lan couldn’t help laughing.
“Pretty crazy, huh?”
Immediately,
Mo Tu’s lips curled up in the café, a smile breaking through his thoughts.
“Oh~ Synchronization complete.”
