Chapter 6: Fate?
After nearly twenty minutes of light napping, Night Star woke up, her eyes slightly squinted, enveloped in an aura of lazy lethargy that practically screamed, “Come snuggle with me!”
At that moment, she was sprawled across Kong Yu Bai’s lap, and the sight of this beautiful girl smiling down at her was far more pleasing than a dull ceiling—stranger or familiar.
“Why not sleep a bit longer? It’s only been twenty minutes; you can catch some extra Z’s,” Kong Yu Bai suggested, her voice sweet and inviting.
Influenced by her body’s urge to snooze, Night Star couldn’t resist stretching out on Kong Yu Bai’s thigh, feeling a lot more comfortable.
She rubbed her eyes and let out a groggy sound.
“Ugh~ I’m fine, really! I’ll be wide awake in no time. Night Lan’s brought some friends over, so I’ve got to get ready.”
With a flick of her wrist, Night Star used her Concept Interference skill to create a mask concept on her face, blurring her facial features. No matter how sharp the observers’ eyes were, they wouldn’t find anything useful on her countenance.
“Let’s go! Night Lan’s here with her friends.”
Night Star stood up, yawning lazily once more, as if spreading some sort of sleep-inducing virus.
Suddenly, she sensed someone approaching and turned to see a dark-haired guy with silver eyes.
She didn’t know him, but she could definitely tell he was a Star Holder.
“Can I help you?” Night Star asked, puzzled.
“Um, are you the Audience Performer?” Yun Bo asked softly.
Even though the person before him was a petite girl, he didn’t display any sort of condescending attitude.
“Yep.” Night Star nodded.
Based on this guy’s demeanor, he didn’t seem like he was out to cause trouble.
“I share the same goal as you, so I want to help you achieve it.”
“Oh? You’re into Lolis too? Want to collect all the little Lolis? Then we’re competitors, and you better not lay a finger on my Loli!”
Night Star’s expression sharpened in an instant.
“Uh?”
Yun Bo fell silent.
What’s this Loli talk?
Wasn’t the Audience Performer on the same wavelength?
“I’m talking about humans living in harmony with Star Eclipses,” he clarified.
Night Star’s hands clapped in realization.
“Ohhhh, that! While I’m not sure how you found out, I really am working on that, but I’ll start from the theater group and not mess with other Star Eclipses for now.”
No need to keep that a secret.
It wasn’t anything private.
“I get it; if you take too big of a leap, you’ll fall. I agree with your approach.”
After meeting the Audience Performer, Yun Bo felt even more assured she was the one he needed to find.
She wasn’t pulling his leg.
She actually was striving for harmony between humans and Star Eclipses.
Sure, a like-minded individual being a little Loli was a tad weird, but she was definitely stronger and more capable than he was.
That was hard to come by.
“Is there anything you need help with?” he asked.
Night Star shook her head.
“Hmm, I kind of get your intentions, but right now, I don’t need your help. Just keep doing what you usually do.”
“What I usually do?”
Yun Bo fell deep into thought again.
Usually, he just drifted around, searching for a bright path and dealing with troublesome Star Eclipses along the way. Simple as that.
But now he’d found his niche— the Audience Performer was the person he needed.
Yet, she didn’t require his assistance, which left Yun Bo a bit lost.
Was he just supposed to sit back and watch as she perfected her grand scheme?
Just as that thought crossed his mind, he shook his head lightly.
“I’ll keep wandering, spreading your name and ideas. I’ll make sure all Star Eclipses and Star Holders know there’s an Audience Performer who’s going to create a harmonious environment for both sides and get them to join in.”
“Uh, what?”
Night Star’s expression turned downright strange.
Was he trying to start a cult or something?
Stop it, Kora!
This was too bizarre!
However, Yun Bo had already turned and walked away, seeming to have found a new goal.
Night Star’s lips twitched as she watched his retreating figure, her hand trembling slightly.
She wanted to call him back, but the words just wouldn’t come.
“Darn it…”
Night Star envisioned some religion beginning to rise.
She could only hope Yun Bo wouldn’t get too carried away.
But, most ordinary people didn’t even know about Star Eclipses, and typically couldn’t connect with them, spreading the word only within tight-knit circles.
She figured Yun Bo wouldn’t be able to do anything too outrageous anyway.
At least, she hoped.
Quickly shaking off the thought, she glanced in a certain direction.
She could vaguely see Night Lan and her friends approaching.
Meanwhile…
At Night Lan’s end.
White Paint, Cai Xun, and Bu Jie suddenly noticed something, their bodies growing tense with anticipation.
“Those silhouettes… seem a bit familiar.”
“Holy cow! Am I dreaming? Isn’t that the Rising Sun Theater Group!?”
Cai Xun and Bu Jie’s pupils started to shake uncontrollably.
Who would’ve thought a beach outing would lead them to the Rising Sun Theater Group?
That wasn’t on their bingo card.
The weekend performances had just concluded, so why were they all together again?
Spotting the Audience Performer.
Oh!
Now it made sense.
It was probably yet another scheme of the Audience Performer.
After all, this wasn’t the first time.
Last time they all went out shopping and stirred quite a bit of chatter on the Night Watcher’s official website.
As a human, the Audience Performer clearly had her own interests and hobbies.
It was perfectly normal for her to want to hang out at the beach.
Naturally, bringing the theater group along was a little much.
And there was one more thing.
What a coincidence!
Both parties happened to select the same stretch of beach for their activities.
There were plenty of other beach areas in this seaside city too.
White Paint connected the dots in silence but remained quiet.
Cai Xun and Bu Jie glanced at the three male Star Holders not far from them and felt quite wary of them.
It wasn’t because they were all guys and there was some homophobic tension; it was just that those three had previously caused a lot of headaches for the Rising Sun Theater Group.
Cai Xun and Bu Jie had even suffered some losses at their hands when they were in Yun Chang City, and they remembered the incident vividly.
“What do we do? Just ignore them? Should we go over?”
“Beats me! Cai dog, why don’t you probe them a bit?”
“Forget it, you go!”
“Why are you so scared? Look at you, quivering like a leaf.”
“Ha, who’s scared? It’s just you looking like a wuss!”
As Cai Xun and Bu Jie started bickering.
Night Lan spotted Night Star and her gang, quickening her pace toward them.
The little Lolis behind her didn’t hesitate at all and quickly followed her lead.
Naturally, White Paint wouldn’t be left behind.
That left only Cai Xun and Bu Jie, rooted in indecision.
The two exchanged looks, mutual disdain written all over their faces.
“Come on, a bunch of little girls aren’t afraid, and you’re acting all scared?”
“Shut up, Cai dog! Even if I am scared, I’m not as scared as you!”
They soon joined the group.
No matter what, they couldn’t afford to embarrass themselves in front of the girls.
Gotta save face!
A moment later.
Night Lan reached Night Star and they locked eyes.
This whole act of pretending not to know each other was kind of weird.
Thinking along those lines, Night Star and Night Lan shook hands and jumped into their act.
“We meet again!”
“Yeah, what a coincidence!”
“Maybe this is fate!”
“Probably.”
