Chapter 7: Beach Volleyball
Night Star and Night Lan pretended to greet each other before diving into further conversation.
“I’m completely shocked, didn’t expect to see you here! Since it’s such a rare meeting, how about we team up?”
“I have no objections.”
In White Paint and the others’ eyes, Night Lan and the Audience Performer quickly reached a consensus.
White Paint didn’t say anything; apparently, he had no objections either.
Cai Xun and Bu Jie, on the other hand, were at a loss for words. Ultimately, they covered their faces with one hand, effectively conceding.
If it had just been the Audience Performer alone, they might not have reacted as strongly.
But behind the Audience Performer stood a group of dangerously powerful theater members.
Especially the Group Leader, the Gentleman, and the Fraudster—three undeniably dangerous individuals.
Facing them with a calm demeanor was nearly impossible.
Cai Xun and Bu Jie exchanged glances at the Gentleman and the Fraudster.
They had changed out of the theater’s costumes and were now rocking some cool beach attire.
Even so, their dangerous aura couldn’t be hidden.
At least, that was how it felt for Night Watchers.
The Fraudster had surprisingly removed his mask, revealing a handsome face that gave him an even more complete vibe.
The presence of both the Gentleman and the Fraudster was significantly stronger than before.
Probably even more dangerous than when Cai Xun and Bu Jie saw them in Yun Chang City.
This was also why Night Star Lan was trying to help them reestablish their past selves.
The Fraudster seemed to notice the gazes from the two.
“Is there something on your mind, gentlemen?”
For once, Bu Jie wasn’t backing down. He had a serious look on his face.
“Do you remember me?”
“Let me think… I’ve seen too many random faces, so some are hard to recall.”
The Fraudster’s attitude was like night and day when it came to his own people versus others.
Bu Jie’s mouth twitched as he suddenly felt the urge to punch the guy.
But if it came to blows, he figured he’d be the one getting a beatdown.
Seeing Bu Jie’s flustered expression, the Fraudster suddenly smiled.
“Just kidding, I remember you popping up during one of my solo performances, but you weren’t an audience member—you were a troublemaker!”
“Oh, you remember that…”
“Of course! My memory isn’t that terrible, you know.”
Just then, the Gentleman stepped forward.
“What do we call this fine gentleman?”
“Bu Jie.”
“Mr. Bu Jie, regardless of any unpleasantness that has occurred in the past, I hope you can let it go. If we’ve made any mistakes, I’m willing to apologize.”
“Uh, well…”
Bu Jie’s expression was a bit stiff.
The Gentleman and the Fraudster were top-tier Star Eclipses.
Bu Jie had experienced their abilities firsthand and knew just how troublesome they could be.
The Gentleman was also very polite and, as the information suggested, placed great importance on etiquette, exuding zero aura of a strong person—he was utterly genteel.
The saying goes, “You don’t hit a smiling face.”
Since the Gentleman was so gentle in his approach, Bu Jie had no choice but to hold back his displeasure.
However, the Fraudster placed his hand on the Gentleman’s shoulder and pulled him back.
“Gentleman, apologizing in this situation isn’t the best solution. It’s clear that Mr. Bu Jie isn’t quite satisfied with us. Perhaps a duel is in order?”
A duel?
Bu Jie’s expression instantly turned complicated.
Sure, he had a bone to pick with the two, but he wasn’t looking to court d*ath!
He was just a little Bright Moon-level Night Watcher trying to duel with top-tier Star Eclipses?
That would be pure foolishness!
Bu Jie seriously suspected the Fraudster was itching to bully newbies.
Though he hated to admit it, if it truly came down to a fight, he would definitely lose to either the Fraudster or the Gentleman.
Just as Bu Jie was about to refuse, the Fraudster spoke up again.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be a plain duel without any special powers, like a match.”
The Fraudster glanced around, scanning the environment before his gaze settled on a spot.
“That seems like a good competitive venue.”
Bu Jie followed the direction of his finger, realizing it was the beach volleyball court.
“You mean we’re going to play beach volleyball? At least we need two people per team.”
“No need to worry. It’ll be me and the Gentleman against you and your buddy.”
“I’m in?”
Cai Xun looked at the Gentleman and the Fraudster, then back at Bu Jie, clearly not backing down.
“Let’s go, Bu Jie! We can’t let them underestimate us.”
So what if they were top-tier Star Eclipses?
As long as they didn’t use their powers, everything would be fine.
In normal competition, Cai Xun and Bu Jie wouldn’t easily back down.
“Let’s show you what kind of synergy we’ve built over the years!”
Seeing the determination in their eyes, the Gentleman and the Fraudster exchanged glances and shared a light smile.
“Since it’s a formal duel, there’s no turning back now.”
“Neither the Gentleman nor I will easily concede, so bring your best!”
With that, the Fraudster waved a greeting to the Audience Performer.
“Audience Performer, we’re off to have a good ‘conversation’ with our new ‘friends.’ Don’t worry, we know our limits.”
Bu Jie also waved to White Paint.
“White Paint, you heard that, right? This is just a simple competitive match. Cai Xun and I will bring home the win!”
White Paint regarded them with a puzzled glance.
Just a moment ago, they seemed so reluctant, and now they were suddenly all fired up.
Is this what they call the romance of men?
Can’t quite wrap my head around it.
“Stay safe and don’t act recklessly.”
That’s all White Paint could say.
Then the four of them turned and headed off to prepare for the beach volleyball match.
The rules for such a game were straightforward and simple—just a quick overview, and they could jump right in.
Night Star watched the scene with surprise.
“Who knew the Fraudster was so skilled at negotiations? He got Cai Xun and Bu Jie to bond so quickly!”
Night Star had been worried sick about how to make the Group Leader and Night Lan’s crew get along naturally.
Especially with the trio of White Paint, Cai Xun, and Bu Jie—true-to-form Night Watchers.
However, as soon as the Fraudster stepped in, it was all smooth sailing.
Though the method of communication was a bit odd, it was a classic example of successful engagement.
“No wonder he’s called the Fraudster,” Night Star muttered in admiration.
Night Lan let out a breath, a smile spreading across her face.
“Let’s go watch their match!”
“Mhm!”
The two groups moved toward the beach volleyball court.
In a burst of inspiration, Night Lan decided to stream live on the Night Watcher website, titling it “Beach Volleyball Showdown: Night Watchers vs. Rising Sun Theater Group Members.”
With such an eye-catching title, the livestream quickly attracted a crowd.
“Rising Sun Theater Group? Is this for real?”
“No way! It’s legit! Those two must be the Gentleman wearing new threads and the Fraudster without his mask! Are they really playing beach volleyball?”
“Do they actually get involved in human entertainment?”
“Their opponents are two Night Watchers?”
“Not sure who they are.”
“Go get ’em, bros! Don’t let these Star Eclipses win!”
…
Night Lan glanced at the lively response in the livestream and was quite pleased with the energy.
Meanwhile, both sides had familiarized themselves with the rules of beach volleyball, and the atmosphere was electric.
“Fraudster, Gentleman, let’s show you how powerful Night Watchers can be!”
Cai Xun and Bu Jie were brimming with combat spirit.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for revenge.
They had been humiliated in front of these two before, and now it was finally time to reclaim their dignity!
