### Chapter 66: Major Personality Shift
Last night, Xia Yu had no clue how she ended up sleeping, but by the next morning, her left arm felt like it was on fire. She rolled up her sleeve and saw that the wound had gotten infected.
Seeing this, she rolled down her sleeve again and ignored it, but the nagging pain never went away.
Since yesterday, Xia Yu’s personality had changed drastically. Her spark was gone, and she hadn’t recovered from it.
Xia Yu became cold and uninterested in everything. She barely spoke and acted dismissive toward people—including her family.
At this moment, her family hadn’t noticed anything unusual about her. As for Xia Ling, who had seen something off about Xia Yu last night, she was already taken away by her close friends early in the morning. So, she couldn’t see Xia Yu’s current state right away.
Without a word, Xia Yu grabbed her bag and quietly descended the stairs, heading out the door.
True, elementary school does provide breakfast, so kids don’t have to eat at home, making it convenient for parents too.
With vacant eyes, Xia Yu arrived at school and didn’t join the other students going to the cafeteria with their meal tickets. Instead, she sat back at her desk.
She was quiet—too quiet, you could say.
Meanwhile, Xia Ling and her close friends came back from having breakfast, and when she saw Xia Yu sitting silently at her desk, she immediately thought of the strange behavior Xia Yu had shown the previous day.
As soon as Xia Ling got near her, she dropped her friends and asked Xia Yu, “Second Brother, what’s wrong? I was just joking yesterday! I won’t spill that secret, okay?”
But after hearing Xia Ling, Xia Yu merely gave her a calm glance before looking back out the window.
Right now, she was thinking about the best way to d*e painfully yet effortlessly.
Seeing Xia Yu like this, Xia Ling felt terrible inside. She didn’t understand why, but she felt Xia Yu was still mad at her, even though Xia Yu wasn’t acknowledging her.
Her close friend noticed and tried pulling Xia Ling away, saying, “Xiao Ling, let’s go. Ignore her.”
Along with those words, Xia Yu’s own friends couldn’t help but give her the same disdainful look as if she had some sort of secret hidden within the girl’s bathroom.
Those looks made Xia Yu feel even sadder. She figured if she were dead, nothing would matter anymore, and everyone would be happier, right?
Watching Xia Ling being pulled away by her friends, Xia Yu once again considered ways to exit this painful existence. Living was tough, exhausting, and painful.
Ding-dong!
The bell rang for class, and the group leader started collecting homework, but he stopped short of collecting Xia Yu’s. He just skipped right past her desk.
Even if the group leader wanted to collect Xia Yu’s homework, he couldn’t. Yesterday, Xia Yu, in a bad mood, refused to do her homework.
Truth is, there was a current trend among the students in the fifth grade. Both boys and girls had a silent agreement.
Except for Xia Ling, nobody wanted to be friends with or even pay attention to Xia Yu. Even if she looked pitiful sometimes, if anyone hung out with her and laughed together, they’d surely get mocked by others. Nobody knew exactly why.
After all, children say things without thinking. They’re still young, but they don’t care what Xia Yu feels inside, as long as they’re happy, that’s all that matters.
