Chapter 18: The Seaside Playtime Comes to an End
Mo Tu and Liu Ying Mo exchanged a few casual words before heading down from the rooftop.
Liu Ying Mo began to ponder in her chair.
“Hmm, I still haven’t asked his name, who was he again?”
While Liu Ying Mo was still puzzled, Mo Tu had already taken the elevator downstairs.
On his way down, he ran into several young people.
They were also Sunlight Night Watchers from the headquarters.
There were quite a few outstanding talents among them.
Of course, they weren’t the peak battle force of the headquarters.
The situation at headquarters was incredibly complex. Being a Sunlight Night Watcher wasn’t just about showing up.

This added leverage within the headquarters power play.
The younger they were, the easier they were to control.
Though these were some promising kids who needed more growth, they were pulled into important roles too early, essentially exploiting their potential way before they were ready.
You could say that some of the veteran Night Watchers in HQ were much stronger than the current Night Watchers, including some young prodigies like Liu Ying Mo who had a handler behind the scenes.
In the end, they were all just pawns in a power game.
Each of those Sunlights had the potential to be a bargaining chip, with no telling when someone might strike from the shadows.
Only the true beast, the Leader, kept the higher-ups in check.
Power distribution in the HQ remained balanced, with no one faction having total dominance.
If there was a single faction with significant dominance, it would be the Leader who controlled most of it.
But he wasn’t interested in stirring up trouble; he was a neutral player, dedicated to protecting national order.
As long as things didn’t descend into chaos, he saw no need to get involved in trivial matters.

Mo Tu couldn’t help but sigh.

The leader was about to face a tougher time.
Because Night Lan’s verbal Sunlight had come true.
That little loli was operating under this identity, which the Leader himself confirmed.
She was hands down the weirdest Sunlight in headquarters history.

But Leader went against all odds, showcasing his authoritarian streak, ignoring all dissents, and even publicly confirming the Sunlight identity on the official website.
Leader’s firm stance silenced many critics, and those higher-ups couldn’t do much about it.
And thus, the matter was settled.
Then Night Lan displayed her miraculous powers.
It initially brought calm to a stormy atmosphere.
Soon after, many started probing her background, uncovering her secrets.
Some higher-ups even wanted to send people to interact with her, but Leader shut them down cold.
People tend to want control over unknowns, and Night Lan’s powers were a major point of intrigue.
Leader was responsible for handling whatever mess Night Lan brought to the surface.
Imagine how tough it must be.
Sometimes, Mo Tu really wished he could clear out all these troublemakers and get this mess in hand.
That way, he wouldn’t feel so indifferent about the capital.
But that would create a very chaotic situation.
Before he has enough capability to clean up, Mo Tu wants nothing to do with this mess.
Maintaining balance is already good enough.
He might wait for those guys to tick off some little loli who’ll likely handle matters promptly.
Still, Mo Tu wouldn’t deliberately nudge anyone into trouble.
Dragged into problems unbidden? Pretty uncouth.
If loved ones found out, they’d probably skin him alive.

Most of those burials were Night Watchers who died in combat, turning into Star Eclipses.

And relying on the stars isn’t Mo Tu’s style at all.
Mo Tu soon entered the archive room through the authority granted by the Leader, starting to search files.
An entire afternoon passed…
Scene shifts to Ping Haishi.
Dusk approached.
The seaside trip for Night Lan and Night Star was coming to an end.
A thoroughly enjoyable day indeed.
Both sides felt incredibly fulfilled.
“Let’s go out together again sometime.”

Lotus Flower and White Fish made a pact, looking forward to more fun times.
During this time, their friendship grew rapidly, becoming good friends.

Gentleman, Fraudster, Cai Xun, and Bu Jie formed some sort of bond too.
They didn’t share the same warm-heartedness as females do, but rather endless competitive spirit.
They used the seaside resources to constantly challenge each other’s skills, from beach volleyball to motorboat competitions, a very intense rivalry.
There were wins and losses, no outright domination.
Bu Jie often won due to Fraudster and Gentleman not familiarizing with the contest content.
Once they adapted, Bu Jie suggested changing activities.
His relentless competitiveness even made White Paint shake her head.
With their parting near, Bu Jie and Cai Xun felt somewhat unsatisfied.
Not to mention…
Winning against Gentleman and Fraudster means bragging rights on the Watcher website.
“If we get another chance, let’s rematch.”
“Heh, hope you’re better next time and don’t use any tricks.”
“What tricks? That’s smart combat—didn’t anyone say you can’t pull tricks during matches?”
“Heh, you said that…”
Fraudster remembered that remark.
No one can match him in dirty tricks.
As for Gentleman, he smiled without comment.
Making enemies into allies—that’s all he wanted.
Though ideally, if the other side showed more respect, that’d be better.
Throughout this process, Gentleman had been controlling his instinct to correct their lack of manners, not willing to interfere in the rude behavior.
This is what the Audience Performer hopes for, harmony.
Therefore, controlling his instinct wasn’t a challenge for Gentleman.
As long as he achieved what the Audience Performer wanted, he was fine.
Similarly, Fraudster’s stance was perhaps similar.
Since the Audience Performer desired it, why not Fraudster too?
