Chapter 23: Using the Emperor to Command the Vassals
In the theater.
Night Star and Night Lan were preparing for sleep.
With Night Lan around, Lily wouldn’t have to be the pillow anymore.
Though Lily’s body was soft and fragrant, adding her would make three, which sounds good, but then you add the Wish Princess, and suddenly four people seem a bit odd.
Night Star and Night Lan will just put the Wish Princess in the middle.
What about Lily?
To avoid the sad sight of Lily huddled in a corner, ignored by everyone, it’s better not to call her.
“Time for bed~”
Night Star and Lan summoned the cute little Wish Princess wearing pajamas and gently hugged her, as sleepiness enveloped them.
They used stars twice today. Although the wishes weren’t significant, they still made them pretty tired.
As for those intimate cuddles, let’s save them for later. Anyway, no harm in waiting a little longer.
Still, better to get some serious sleep instead.
A moment later.
The room fell silent.
Night Star and Lan were asleep, cuddling the Wish Princess tightly.
The Wish Princess was awake, with her red and blue gradient eyes gazing expressionlessly at the ceiling. She didn’t actually need sleep but enjoyed being there, doing whatever Night Star wanted, without any personal opinions.
She found the intimacy nice, and wouldn’t hold back her powers unless Night Star planned to use them badly. But a lifeless tool she wasn’t—she’d fight against that.
While sleeping deeply, Night Star was actually dreaming—a dream controlled by a Dream Narrator.
In that lucid dream, it was like being in another world, indistinguishable from reality to Night Star.
Without a care, Night Star had called the Wish Princess into the dream again while she was just daydreaming.
Troublesome fool.
The next second.
The Wish Princess appeared in the Dream Narrator’s constructed world.
Now Night Star was hugging the Dream Pursuer Yin. Such a promiscuous character.
Maybe it was bad timing?
Seeing the Wish Princess appear, Night Star smiled cutely.
“Wish Princess, come here and snuggle too~”
Well, for Night Star, she couldn’t have arrived at a better time.
Wish Princess could only sit next to her as Night Star leaned in for a face rub, while Night Lan nudged the Dream Pursuer Yin, and Night Star snuggled the Wish Princess.
Really divided snuggling.
It’s a left and right embrace in another sense.
Night Star acts a lot bolder in dreams than in reality.
For her, dreams are a place where she can do anything without restraint, moral or otherwise.
“Speaking of which, Little YinYin, what’s the Dream Narrator up to lately?”
Little YinYin is the shortened version of the Dream Pursuer Yin. No problem with that.
“Mmm…”
Dream Pursuer Yin paused, decided to spill the beans on her creator.
“He’s been snooping around in a bunch of people’s dreams.”
“Hmm, has he caused any big dreams?”
“No, just whenever he’s in the mood. It doesn’t happen often.”
“So kind of random.”
Night Lan nodded thoughtfully.
If anyone knew the Dream Narrator well, it was definitely Night Lan.
He hadn’t bullied her, and had brought a cute loli along.
Every day in dreams, Night Lan could hug Dream Pursuer Yin.
Very understanding from the Dream Narrator, indeed!
Night Star had willingly fallen into his trap.
Fortunately, he was just a wandering idler of the universe, and his Star Eclipses hadn’t caused any chaos in reality—everything happened in the dreams.
Thus, he was pretty easily appeased by that.
But people whose dreams he invaded would expose all their secret, ugly truths.
Everything real would be revealed to him.
Nobody wanted their secrets exposed publicly.
Only those who the Dream Narrator kept an eye on couldn’t remember anything about their dreams.
Otherwise, many would be after them.
Everyone had secrets they kept hidden.
The Dream Narrator, however, didn’t care about privacy. He showed absolutely no concern for others’ feelings and willingness.
Fortunately, he didn’t intend to spread secrets. Otherwise, it would definitely cause pandemonium.
He was dangerous in some ways, given how easy it was for him to obtain human secrets.
If he wished, he could probably cause a national-scale disaster.
Secrets are very important to humans; no one wants to be socially dead.
And the super scary Supernova Star Eclipses.
At that moment, Night Lan recalled something, intending to summons the Dream Narrator for a chat.
So upon speaking some strange incantation, the Dream Narrator quickly appeared within this dreamworld.
“Why did you call me? I recall our meeting was not long ago, was there something important?”
Night Lan immediately said earnestly, “I took out the Ballad Conductor.”
The Dream Narrator narrowed his eyes.
“Just that?”
“Ah? Isn’t that important?”
“What does that matter to me? The First Generation Star Eclipses are very independent. Don’t overthink the relationship between us.”
Night Lan wasn’t too surprised. This was expected from the Dream Narrator.
After all, it had been mentioned before.
“Oh, what about Star Origin?”
Night Lan tried another question.
“I recall it was somewhere with the Uncrowned Wanderer.”
“But now, it’s with me.”
“How did it end up like this?”
More concerned with the Star Origin than the relatively unimportant Ballad Conductor, the Dream Narrator was more interested in what was happening now.
After all, the First Generation Star Eclipses were closely linked to the Star Origin.
In a sense, their power was like wielding the emperor to command the vassals, including the First Generation themselves.
However, only if they weren’t bound by obsessions.
Finding Origin Balls, like those First Generation Star Eclipses, weren’t helpful until the full Star Origins truly came back.
Then they might lead them all.
Night Lan then told the Dream Narrator about the Ballad Conductor absorbing the power of Star Origin and using it against her.
Listening, the Dream Narrator chuckled elegantly.
“I see. So, Ballad Conductor isn’t much of a concern. Since you have half of the Star Origin, better keep it safe to prevent misuse. You wouldn’t want to see a second Ballad Conductor, right? Perhaps it won’t be so easy this time.”
“You’re actually throwing this headache at me!?”
Night Lan’s eyes widened, disbelief etched on her face as her cheeks puffed up angrily.
“After all, you aren’t going to hand it over, right?”
The Dream Narrator had a knowing look on his face.
“Indeed.”
