Chapter 695

Chapter 47: This Magic is Not That Magic

The clock hands pointed at twelve.

It was noon.

Mo Rabbit had finished her errands in the capital and returned to the Rising Sun Theater.

“Noon, huh? Should still have some time.”

Tomorrow was the weekend, the day of the Grand Performance, the big event everyone anticipated.

Every Grand Performance was crucial. A lackluster spectacle was not an option; the theater members would absolutely not be satisfied.

And stage setup was a key element.

As per tradition, they would likely cover a pretty expansive area this time around.

Pinghaishi had two sections, and when combined, the area was larger than many whole cities.

Mo Rabbit wasn’t sure if they could pull it off.

It seemed dicey.

Then one by one, figures started appearing in the theater.

The group leader and others emerged.

“Welcome back, Announcer! I think you need to be briefed on the details of the Grand Performance.”

“Details? I know it’s magic. Just tell me your ideas, and I’ll simulate them myself.”

Mo Rabbit thought this would be easy-peasy. She didn’t need to go on stage, just stand at the edge and keep the setup in order.

At that moment, Night Star appeared out of nowhere, looking casually lazy.

After all, Night Lan was currently enjoying the tender services of White Fish.

Mental pleasures were being shared.

“Oh wow~ Mo Rabbit, you’re back! Quickly prepare the details for tomorrow’s Grand Performance, time waits for no one!”

“What do I need to do?”

“Hmm… Same old stage setup. This time, you might not work too hard since I’m here.”

“Oh? Is it because the magic is short?”

“Probably.”

Night Star mumbled, showing zero motivation.

“Let the group leader fill you in with the specifics; I’m going to sit over there and fish around, with zero desire to chat~”

With that, Night Star flumped down into the audience seats.

Mo Rabbit rolled her eyes, ignoring the loli who preferred to slack off, and turned to the group leader.

“The Audience Performer is saying that, so let’s have you tell me the details for this performance.”

The group leader nodded slightly.

“This time, the stars of the Grand Performance are me and the Audience Performer, while the others will assist us in performing a continuous magic act.”

Mo Rabbit’s interest piqued instantly.

“The Audience Performer is actually performing magic too? I don’t remember her being good at this.”

“Once she gained her special abilities, everything she showcases can be called magic; at least that’s how others see it.”

Mo Rabbit’s expression turned peculiar.

“Abandoning props and techniques for a showcase of supernatural abilities— is this the end of magic?”

“At least traditional magic doesn’t fit the modern era. What’s wrong with evolving the concept of magic along with the times?”

In this day and age, there were simply too many forms of entertainment.

Traditional magic had long vacated the scene.

The Rising Sun Theater was no relic of the past; they pursued modernity, after all.

With today’s technology, regular folks could easily pull off what used to wow audiences; it was hardly impressive anymore.

Designing an awe-inspiring, unreplicable magic show? That relied on supernatural powers.

In broad terms: anything visually stunning can be deemed magic.

As long as it fits that, it’s good enough.

Mo Rabbit understood this and didn’t dwell on it too much.

“And then?”

“This magic will center around the Audience Performer, as her various abilities are enough to support a shockingly spectacular act. Considering this, I suggested making her the lead.”

“The Audience Performer’s abilities…”

Mo Rabbit mentally tallied up a list.

Wish Machine, Life Blessing, Doll City, Existence Interference, Symbiosis, Dreamscape, Fairness for All, Probability Manipulation, Blink, Conceptual Interference, Polite Demon, and a bunch of powers just swiped from Loti Shana—so many!

Even without needing assistance from other theater members, the Audience Performer could probably pull off a truly stunning Grand Performance.

Mo Rabbit shot a glance at Night Star.

“She’s actually willing to take on such an important role? This is different from the last few times.”

The whole point of magic is to avoid blunders, or else it just turns into a comedy show.

Kong Yu Bai chimed in: “When the group leader first told her, she was really resistant about it, insisting that the group leader take the lead. But once the group leader showed her a lot of trust, she reluctantly agreed to take on such an important role.”

“Sounds like a scene I can totally picture.”

Mo Rabbit was indifferent. It wasn’t like she was the lead or felt much pressure.

“Now, share your ideas with me; how do you want the stage set up? You have to tell me so I can simulate it.”

Then the group leader and others began discussing the magic with Mo Rabbit.

Details, concepts, everything was laid out.

Since they were all theater members, there was no worry about information leaks; this was a show for the audience outside.

After a while, Mo Rabbit finally grasped what they were getting at and nodded knowingly.

“I get it.”

To put it metaphorically, the group leader was the clear communicator, while Mo Rabbit was the one who understood them.

Both parties were quite capable, which saved a ton of time.

Moments later, Mo Rabbit began simulating the effects they wanted.

The group leader and others made minor corrections and confirmations, finalizing the stage design.

Not much time was wasted at all.

Once the final plan was set, Mo Rabbit went back to rest and prep.

Night Star, too, shook off her lazy demeanor, diving into researching the various abilities she’d snagged from Loti Shana.

Now she could sense the existence of the Star Eclipse Nations.

Not just in the capital but across other regions as well.

Loti Shana probably built dozens of Star Eclipse Nations scattered over half the planet.

Right now, there was only one in Huaxia, located at the Hero Cemetery.

The situation with the Star Eclipse there was already well thought out.

But what about the other places?

So many Star Eclipse Nations, plus all those Star Eclipses inside them.

Night Star Lan, even if she split herself in two, would still take massive energy and time to deal with them all.

Well, it seemed like it was time to just chill.

Night Star couldn’t think of how to handle those Star Eclipse Nations right now.

So until she figured things out, she’d just leave them be.

They probably weren’t as mild-mannered as the Star Eclipses in the Hero Cemetery.

Who knew how many bad eggs might be lurking around?

Can’t just set them loose.

“Hmm, tomorrow’s the Grand Performance; no time for random thoughts.”

Night Star slapped her face with both hands, quickly shaking off her lazy mood.

There was still time.

To ensure tomorrow’s smooth performance, and to make certain everything went flawlessly during the show, Night Star needed to practice the magic well.

Though calling it magic was really just some supernatural abilities combined to create astonishing phenomena.

That alone would shock regular audiences just fine.

But if she wanted to wow the pros too, she needed to display powers that surpassed their understanding entirely.

And Night Star just happened to have that kind of ability.
