### Chapter 50: The Grand Performance Begins
As time ticked away…
Morning arrived the next day.
Night Star and Night Lan woke up from their dreams, unable to suppress a yawn.
“Ugh, the big day has finally arrived.”
Unbeknownst to them, they’d already been in Pinghai City for close to a month.
Not just Night Star, but Night Lan was in the same boat.
Even though Night Lan was supposed to be on vacation…
Who knew it would stretch on for nearly a month?
Once the grand performance was over, it would be time for Night Lan to head back to Yun Chang City.
If she stayed away too long, Boss Xiao Jin might just come to haul Night Lan and the rest back himself.
Though she might miss the beach and the lolis a bit, Yun Chang City was still her home.
Her Fish Playing House was firmly set there, and that wasn’t changing.
After a few moments of lying in bed…
Night Star finally decided to get up and wash up.
She needed to prepare for the grand performance later.
This time, she was going to perform magic alongside the Group Leader, sporting a brand new magician’s outfit!
Night Star had already tried it on.
It was a bit different from her original performance costume, but not by much.
The magical top hat on her head was a lot bigger, and her attire looked just like a tailcoat.
Basically, your classic magician’s ensemble.
It was similar to what the Group Leader was wearing.
Of course, Night Star loved it!
With new clothes, she had to show them off in performance; besides, she’d be wearing a mask anyway, so no one would see her face.
As long as they didn’t see her face, there was no way to socially embarrass herself.
When Night Star was finally ready, all the members of the theater group had already gathered at the base of the stage.
Night Lan, meanwhile, had returned to the Night Watcher Base to get ready and was also heading out with friends to watch the grand performance.
Before heading out, the theater group members had a special meeting to go over the details of the grand show, treating it with all the seriousness of a Hollywood blockbuster.
By the time it was nearly noon, everyone in the theater was finally ready to set out.
Even though the Ghost Girl wasn’t an official member of the theater group, that didn’t stop her from tagging along with the regulars.
Eypar acted like a special audience member just hanging out at the theater but, in a sense, she was practically a part of the crew by this point.
After all, she was essentially the theater group’s lucky charm ghost. There was no way they could just kick her to the curb.
When the performance began, she’d probably just hang out next to the Announcer and enjoy the show.
Considering this ghost had been around the theater crew, she already knew what they were performing, so as long as she didn’t cause any chaos, they were good.
And Guqiu was set to play the role of performance props for the grand show.
Because, you know, it’s magic!
You can’t do magic without doves.
Guqiu was a natural in situations like this and was ready to strut her stuff and become the most dazzling dove of the day.
Only she was thinking that way, of course.
Night Star gently patted Guqiu’s little head and smiled.
“Go for it, Guqiu! When we get back, I’ll buy you two bags of fries.”
“Coos! This dove is the strongest! I’m nothing like that silly ghost!”
Eypar, floating in the air, shot an annoyed glance at Guqiu.
“Hmph! If I could perform, I’d definitely do a better job than dumb Guqiu!”
Eypar felt a bit miffed, realizing she’d been at a disadvantage since she wasn’t an official theater member.
If she were, she would’ve been flaunting her skills by now.
Every time Guqiu used this point to poke fun at her, it left Eypar feeling downright miserable.
One day, she would definitely get back at Guqiu with some pranks!
Just like the last time she possessed a stranger to deliver fries to Guqiu.
Thinking about that, Eypar felt a sense of satisfaction.
That wouldn’t be the last time!
“No arguing, okay? Let’s keep the bonding for after the grand performance. We need to get moving now.”
Night Star stood next to the Group Leader in her magician outfit, like a mini version of him, making them resemble a father-daughter duo.
They could easily be classified as the Great Magician and the Little Magician.
A sight that really brought a smile.
Especially when Night Star struck an adorable pose with her magic wand.
So cute!
But idle chit-chat came to an end.
Night Star led the theater members out of the Rising Sun Theater.
“Let’s roll!”
Outside…
The sun hung high in the sky, with radiant sunshine making the day pleasantly bright—perfect for a trip to the beach.
But as the clock struck twelve, an ominous darkness started creeping on the horizon, spewing a foreboding gloom.
How strange.
It was only noon, after all.
Was this a natural phenomenon?
The darkness spread from the edge of the horizon towards the sky, soon shrouding all of Pinghai City, blocking the coastal and land areas alike!
Upon closer inspection…
Another section of the ocean was cloaked in darkness, resembling a massive barrier.
Logically speaking, Mo Rabbit couldn’t pull this off alone, but Night Star was involved too.
A quick boost from the Wish Machine could make it possible!
Of course, that was just a side note.
When the night fully enveloped the area, all light was cut off, leaving Pinghai City engulfed in darkness.
The Night Watchers couldn’t help but gawk at the exaggerated environmental change, sensing the unfathomable power at play.
This was more than just magic!
“Changing the sky over an entire city… every time I see it, it still shocks me…”
“They always go overboard for the grand performance; you just get used to it.”
“The citizens are starting to panic.”
“Don’t worry, the Night Watchers have contacted the officials; they’ll handle it.”
The so-called ‘handling’ probably involved temporarily masking the shocking spectacle, making citizens think it was just a test phase for the newest tech.
Even if there were major loopholes, it would help keep the citizens calm.
As for whether it would have significant repercussions later, going by the Rising Sun Theater Group’s usual tactics, they would likely have a special way to clean up afterward.
So the Night Watchers didn’t need to stress too much.
Back to reality.
The eerie night descended.
The city’s lights were dim, failing to illuminate the night with neon glow.
Modern cities relied on light sensors to flick on the public lighting.
If the sensors detected weakening sunlight from the sky, the entire city would bask in the glow of the night.
But now, nothing was happening—it was as if something was interfering with the sensors.
Then, someone glanced at the sky, discovering something twinkling in the inky darkness.
Were those stars?
As one star lit up, others began to appear, igniting the dark sky and forming a dazzling Star River in a chain reaction!
“Whaaaat?!”
Everyone was stunned.
Pinghai City was illuminated, glimmering with the romantic glow of starlight, like an entire galaxy from the cosmos.
If they were regular stars, they wouldn’t be able to provide enough light to brighten the entire city.
But these constellations felt so close, they seemed within reach.
So bright.
Yet so far away.
Yet, the intensity of the light was strong enough to replace the modern city’s electronic lighting.
Then the star clusters began to move, forming clear patterns.
It looked like a cartoon sun made out of stars, with a magical top hat seemingly hidden in the middle.
This was the trademark sign of the Rising Sun Theater Group.
