Chapter 8: The Stuff in the Bag
Mo Rabbit hopped out of the theater.
In the audience, only two little lolis were left, deep in their thoughts.
Late at night.
Night Star Lan lay in bed, and soon drifted into a dream.
Before long…
The two lolis woke up in the dream, which was an all-powerful realm constructed by the Dream Narrator’s powers.
Night Star Lan decided to reach out to that guy who was always snooping around in other people’s secrets.
“Dream Narrator, are you there?”
A few seconds later,
The Dream Narrator and Dream Pursuer Yin appeared beside Night Star Lan, both wearing graceful smiles.
“I can’t say I’m not here; my intuition tells me you’re off to do something very important.”
As usual, Night Star Lan waved to Dream Pursuer Yin to come sit beside her.
“Uh-huh, your intuition is spot on! Actually, I want to find another part of the Origin of the Stars, the Source of White. Not only would it help keep the troublemaking First Generation Star Eclipses in check, but it would also eliminate the possibility of crises arising. Sounds like a good deal, right?”
In Night Star Lan’s eyes, the Dream Narrator was much easier to talk to than those other First Generation Star Eclipses, plus he had a cute little loli in tow. So, having a chat about this important matter felt perfectly reasonable.
The First Generation Star Eclipses could be said to be the first powerful star eclipses created by the Origin of the Stars.
Night Star Lan figured she could glean some intel about the origin from them.
The Dream Narrator had only shared information with other First Generation Star Eclipses, never anything detailed about the Origin of the Stars.
Of course, what the Dream Narrator said next would only disappoint Night Star Lan.
“Is that so? Well, I might not be able to help you. The mystery of the origin is beyond my understanding—I’ve never even entered the dreams of the Origin. As far as the real stuff goes, I only know bits and pieces. If you think I can give you useful info, you’re bound to be disappointed.”
“What a shame!”
Originally, Night Star Lan wanted to proceed with caution and check out some guides before setting off.
But alas! No guides were to be found.
It seemed she was the first player to take on this boss.
Who knows what the Source of White is really like?
Maybe it’s not a ball like Kuro but rather an incredibly powerful sentient being with its own agenda.
Or it could be in the hands of some peculiar people.
Night Star Lan definitely didn’t want to be tortured.
Now that she realized there were no detailed guides, her inner voice started to suggest that maybe she should just back out.
Why not just give up?
After all, the Source of White hadn’t caused any trouble; she could just ignore it!
Training Loti Shana didn’t strictly require the full Origin of the Stars.
“Mmm…”
Just as Night Star Lan was pondering while petting Dream Pursuer Yin’s head, the Dream Narrator spoke again.
“By the way, meeting you this time, I caught a whiff of the Pioneer’s aura. It seems to belong to someone named Loti Shana. Have you run into her?”
“Uh-huh, I met her not long ago! I really like her and want to train her to be my little maid, but sadly, she’s just too stubborn.” Night Star Lan nodded in acknowledgment.
Hearing this, the Dream Narrator very interestingly offered a few suggestions.
“Because she always thinks of herself as a supreme ruler, believing she’s more noble than anyone else, including the First Generation Star Eclipses like me. It won’t be easy to make her your exclusive maid, but it’s not impossible. If you can make her genuinely submit, all her pompous facade will crumble without a fight.”
“Uh~ Genuinely submit to me? Only the Origin of the Stars could manage that, right?”
“That’s true. Aside from the Origin of the Stars, I’ve never seen her lower her head to anyone. You might have the qualification, but I’m not sure how to make it happen. Simply making her feel the power gap won’t conquer her.”
“Wow, this is tough…”
Night Star Lan sighed slightly.
Compared to before, she had gained an unmatched strength, nearly invincible in the world.
Her mindset had also changed quite a bit.
At least she wasn’t as cowardly as before, running away at the first sign of danger.
To be honest, nothing currently posed a threat to her.
Not even the Loti Shana situation gave her any real pressure.
Making that little loli into a well-behaved maid was actually quite simple.
All it needed was a wish.
As soon as Night Star Lan said the word, the Wish Princess would fulfill her desire.
But she was not the kind of person who would casually alter anyone’s will for her own selfish desires.
If she wished for Loti Shana to become a compliant maid through the Wish Princess, it would probably just twist her obsession.
If she rewrote her obsession into something else, then Loti Shana wouldn’t be Loti Shana anymore.
But the Origin of the Stars could make Loti Shana genuinely feel submission.
Setting aside her identity as the creator of the Star Eclipses, maybe the Origin had something worth learning for Night Star Lan.
Maybe she could apprentice under it and then come back to slowly train Loti Shana?
That seemed like a solid choice.
However, Kuro was a glowing ball, incapable of communication.
And Bai was missing with an unknown status.
Finding a mentor turned out to be a tall order.
Night Star Lan was very eager to seek out the Source of White.
But the lack of information made her a bit hesitant.
This was truly a conundrum.
The Dream Narrator noticed her turmoil and couldn’t resist offering a hint.
“I can emphasize one thing: the star part of the origin is similar in size to Loti Shana. My Dream Pursuer Yin was also modeled after Bai’s figure. If you find Dream Pursuer Yin to your liking, then Bai might just be your cup of tea.”
“Oh wow~”
Night Star Lan’s eyes lit up, and her inner hesitations began to fade.
“Really?”
“Of course! Other First Generation Star Eclipses can vouch for that. If you don’t believe me, feel free to ask them.”
“I believe you!”
“Well, what will your next choice be?”
“Hmph~ Just the Source of White? Watch me how I snatch her back!”
Sometimes, a person who hesitates just needs a little nudge to make up their mind.
Overthinking is often outdone by the decisive choice of the second node.
As long as it matches her tastes, even if it’s not human, Night Star Lan could still reel it in!
The Wish Princess was definitely unbeatable!
Just half of the Origin of the Stars wouldn’t stand a chance against someone who owns the Wish Princess!
The little loli of the origin would just have to obediently let her pick her up!
It had to be this way.
“Mmm-hmm~”
Right now, Night Star Lan’s eyes sparkled with confidence, as if the Source of White was already in her pocket.
The Dream Narrator smiled elegantly at this.
He certainly hoped Night Star Lan could retrieve the other half of the origin too!
Just as he had thought before.
Better to have the origin in Night Star Lan’s hands than risk it being lost and exploited by some unknown ants.
At least she had the qualifications.
Besides Night Star Lan, the Dream Narrator couldn’t think of anyone else worthy of touching the origin.
Even the First Generation Star Eclipses weren’t qualified.
Even the Uncrowned Wanderer, who found Kuro first, had no other ideas.
Only the Ballad Conductor was clueless, thinking he could wield the power of the origin at will.
In the end, he was wiped out by Night Star Lan.
Serves him right.
