Chapter 71: Awake
No one knew how the middle-aged man managed to negotiate with Xia Hong, but it was indeed quick. Xia Hong agreed to let Xia Yu be treated at the middle-aged man’s hospital.
At the same time, Xia Yu arrived at the town’s hospital. Because of the middle-aged man’s intervention, the ambulance didn’t stop there but kept on driving forward, no one knowing where they were headed.
After a few hours, Xia Yu finally reached a municipal hospital. As luck would have it, this hospital was actually privately owned by that middle-aged man’s family.
Since Xia Yu was notified ahead of time, she could directly undergo a thorough check-up and surgery, making it an all-inclusive service.
If Xia Yu’s injuries had been more severe, she probably wouldn’t have made it, so as her homeroom teacher, Wang Ruixue was pretty angry. If Xia Yu had died, he would’ve had some serious explaining to do.
But when he saw Xia Yu being rushed in for surgery right after getting off the ambulance, he didn’t know who to be mad at—everyone here seemed too tough for words.
They conducted the necessary tests and treatments. After a day and night of hard work by the doctors, Xia Yu was resting comfortably in her hospital bed.
Wang Ruixue returned home since Xia Yu was out of immediate danger and he still had a class to manage. Having a teacher hanging around did not make sense, after all.
Xia Yu was admitted to the hospital, but no family members stayed to take care of her because her parents were swamped with work and couldn’t spare the time. Her grandparents spoke in dialect, and while they came all the way here, they couldn’t really communicate much, plus they had their hands full taking care of the fields and livestock at home.
When Xia Yu woke up, she found herself in a strange place, and, to her surprise, recognized no one around.
Perhaps due to previous experience, Xia Yu felt quite calm and collected, recounting everything without any panic. She remembered… she had jumped from a building!
As she reflected, Xia Yu looked down at her arm and leg, which were already plastered up; it seemed like both were broken.
Just as she was recalling more details, the door to her single-occupancy room opened.
Entering the room, not only were there two attractive nurses, but also a middle-aged man in a suit and an elderly man in a lab coat.
The nurses immediately started checking instruments beside Xia Yu and assessing her condition before reporting back to the middle-aged man and promptly leaving.

Looking intently at Xia Yu, the middle-aged man laughed and introduced himself: “A spirited young lady. My name is Jiang Bin, you can call me Uncle Jiang. This is my family’s hospital, so consider all your expenses covered…”
Before Jiang Bin could finish, Xia Yu interrupted him with a hoarse voice, “Why save me?”
Not fazed, Jiang Bin continued once Xia Yu stopped speaking, “Don’t rush now, hear me out first. You’ll have plenty of questions later. Apart from what I’ve already said, there is one more person you should know about: Dr. T, who operated on you six months ago. He is actually my uncle, my father’s younger brother. Unfortunately, his actions led to your current condition, though he did pay the ultimate price for it. Do you have anything you want to say to him?”
Xia Yu just blinked, clearly processing this new information with a mix of bewilderment and calmness.
