Chapter 9 The Future World
“Where is the Origin of the White?”
Night Star Lan had a hunch already.
That was to use the power of the Wish Machine to teleport herself next to the Origin of the White.
But that would be extremely risky.
If there were dangerous guys around the Origin of the White or if she got absorbed as badly as the previous person [Kuro] did, then Night Star Lan teleporting next to her would be like going from the frying pan into the fire.
After all, she used up all her mental energy last time when she brought the Dream Narrator to the Origin’s side—and even had a cool-down period that left her unable to use the Wish Machine for quite some time.
Considering the Origin of the White might be an enemy, Night Star Lan’s reckless plan would just court disaster.
She might not even have the power to fight back and could only rely on others.
So, if she wanted to bring back the loli, she’d need to proceed with even more caution.
Only by being well-prepared would Night Star Lan have enough assurance to succeed in her mission.
Realizing what Night Star Lan planned to bring part of the Origin back, the Dream Narrator naturally wanted to lend a helping hand.
“Then let me share some useful information.”
“What relevant info do you have? Spit it all out quickly! I can’t wait!”
“It’s just sharing my experience in searching for the Origin recently.”
The Dream Narrator began to slowly recount.
As a traveler in dreams, he generally roamed around in different dreamscapes.
As long as someone was dreaming, he could quickly travel to any place in the world.
If talking about who had the best hope of finding the Star’s Origin among the first generation star eclipses, the Dream Narrator was definitely at the top.
Because once he entered someone’s dream, no secret could stay hidden from him.
There were more humans than any other form of life on the planet. If any humans found anything related to the origin, the Dream Narrator would notice quickly.
In these dreams, he was invincible.
He could accomplish anything within his dreams, including subliminal hypnosis.
If the Dream Narrator used such powers, then anyone who found something related to the origin and re-entered their dream could contact Dream Narrator for verification.
So, almost all humans were unwittingly helping Dream Narrator search for the Star Origin.
Yet, after so many years, the Dream Narrator hadn’t found even a shred of clue.
Not until not too long ago, did he discover some info about [Kuro] in the Uncrowned Wanderer’s alternate space.
Spaces like these, humans could not step foot in.
The Uncrowned Wanderer usually avoided getting in touch with the Dream Narrator.
After all, one was in reality while the other was in dreams.
So, from this, they deduced a possibility.
Maybe the Origin of the White was also in some alternate space where humans couldn’t venture.
Even hard-to-detect origins like the first gen star eclipses couldn’t sense it.
As for more complex situations, who knew?
Upon hearing the Dream Narrator’s speculation, Night Star Lan thought deeply.
“This seems plausible. If the Origin were so easily traceable by humans, then that would be terrible.”
“Ok, that’s all the help I can offer. The rest is up to you. If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”
“Mm… bye~”
Once the Dream Narrator vanished before her eyes, clear thoughts arose in Night Star Lan’s mind.
She knew next steps needed to be taken.
“Wish Princess.”
Called upon by Night Star Lan, the Wish Princess appeared out of thin air beside her with an expressionless yet adorable face.
Night Star Lan began wish-making.
“Can you tell me where the stellar fragment of the Origin is?”
It was a wish.
Wishes involving beings of that caliber immediately drained Night Star Lan’s mental energy sharply.
Moments later.
The Wish Princess, still expressionless, replied, “In the future world.”
This caught Night Star Lan off guard.
“Huh?”
Future.
Everyone, including Night Star Lan, longed for a future filled with light.
Unexpectedly, the Origin of the White turned out to be connected to the future.
A future neither Night Star Lan nor anyone else anticipated.
Next, the Wish Princess began explaining.
The incarnation of a star called **White** wasn’t in the past or present but solely in the future.
Why would this star be in the future? Maybe it’s characteristic of that entity.
Just like how [Kuro] could ignore every timeline and dimension limit.
Once strengthened, the Ballad Conductor in enhanced versions could encounter Night Star Lan’s manipulated timelines.
Parallel universes might even follow suit.
So, **White** possessed a mysterious ability.
She could leap to the future world.
Neither the present nor the past held traces of her; only the future held her existence.
And that future was predetermined, both in time and distance.
No matter how much time passed or progress humans made, White would always be confined to the future.
If Night Star Lan’s current moment was “now,” she never could reach the future’s **White**.
This was the gap of concept distance.
Years, decades, centuries could pass, but White would remain untouchable from now on.
Thus, no one could ever find her.
Night Star Lan lived in “now.”
“Hmm… This sounds complicated.”
Understanding a little bit after the Wish Princess’ explanation, Night Star Lan grasped the idea.
If we treat “past”, “present”, and “future” as three distinct worlds, then this becomes somewhat clearer.
White isn’t in the “past” or “present” worlds but exists in the “future”.
Living in the past or present, people would never interact with things from the future.
It’s as simple as that.
To find White, one must venture into the future world.
Is that what she meant?
“Hmm… Then I’ll need to prep properly…”
Night Star Lan muttered, deciding against taking action immediately.
After all, she’d barely fulfilled a wish about the Star Origin, and her mental energy was running on empty.
Right now, she couldn’t grant any more wishes and was simply lazing around.
“Awoo~”
Night Star Lan yawned lazily, snuggling with the Wish Princess and preparing for a nap.
“Let’s wait a few days…”
Tiredness hit her like a tidal wave.
Forget sleeping just a day—all she wanted was to catch up on her slumber.
Without a doubt, restoring the Wish Princess’s function probably required a day or two.
Finding out where the Origin of the White was felt like an exhausting effort in itself.
The story continued without disturbance.
It wasn’t until noon the next day that Night Star Lan finally stirred, still in a state of languid sluggishness with no enthusiasm.
Though she could have slept longer, going back to say a quick ‘hello’ seemed best.
Night Lan returned to Cloud Chang City to greet a few young girls, missing them briefly.
Night Star was napping with friends at the theater, enjoying herself thoroughly.
After greeting Zero Meow and company, Night Lan went back to nap.
Almost the entire day was spent in slumber until the evening when Night Star Lan regained a bit of energy.
“Half health restored~”
Her health wasn’t full because the Wish Princess was still in cooldown.
To act, she had to wait for the Wish Princess to recharge.
Maybe if she had A-level mental power, things wouldn’t be so exhausting.
Too bad, Night Star Lan hadn’t cracked the issue of keeping A-level mental power under control as if it were a curse.
