Chapter 13: Reading the Script
Fantasizing for a moment.
Night Star Lan finally calmed her emotions down.
Now is not the time to be shy.
At the end of the day, it’s just a fantasy.
Maybe it won’t even reach a level that would make one feel shy.
At least verification is needed.
Besides, one could always use the “amnesia” excuse when necessary to deal with uncomfortable situations.
Night Star Lan was totally unprepared for such a predictable turn of events.
Especially someone from three years ago.
“Time to gather information…”
Then, Night Star buried her head in Night Lan’s arms, while Night Lan took out the Night Watcher device and logged onto the Night Watcher website.
The Night Watcher website was still as she remembered, at least nothing had drastically changed.
This indicated that it has been optimized to the max.
Without technological breakthroughs, everything would remain the same.
Putting aside whether it felt familiar or not,
She was more curious about what happened over the past three years.
Night Lan filtered by time, bringing up events after 2102, which was three years ago.
But even with filtering, there were still an overwhelming amount of events that seemed impossible to go through!
Fortunately, two more filtering terms could be added.
For instance, “Night Lan” and “Audience Performer.”
Adding these terms helped eliminate a lot more information.
Although it still seemed like a lot, it wasn’t as overwhelming as before.
“Mmm… looks like I’ll have to look back quite a while…”
But no problem.
There are two Night Stars anyway.
Night Star and Night Lan can each take half, doubling their efficiency!
This is also an advantage of having a divided soul with two bodies.
As they went on,
Night Star Lan suddenly felt like she was finding the author before watching a movie to read the script.
“Oh~ The Night Watchers finally accepted the Rising Sun Theater Group? So glad they didn’t oppose it~”
“Mm… Night Watcher Night Lan also became close friends with the Audience Performer, often meeting up.”
“If this is any indication, Night Star doesn’t seem to have exposed her true identity yet? As expected, I really do get shy easily.”
Night Star Lan was engrossed, almost as if she was reading another story.
Although it’s all part of her life after returning, knowing in advance doesn’t guarantee the same outcomes.
Who knows if she’ll make different choices in the future?
“Huh? The Rising Sun Theater apparently opens several times every week to let outsiders in. The Night Watchers seem to be among the first audiences invited. This seems like something I’d do.”
“Mm… The Audience Performer often appears in the Night Watcher base, usually accompanied by a few theater members. Pretty big progress!”
Even though details aren’t clear, seeing everything go smoothly means she should be able to relax and ‘copycat’ things when she returns!
Of course, just some parts, and probably ahead of time.
This kind of uncertainty leaves everyone guessing what will happen next.
After a while, Night Star Lan kept calmly reading, feeling very content.
These are the kinds of information posted on the Night Watcher homepage, but specifics aren’t recorded, only general outlines.
There might still be secrets withheld, keeping other Night Watchers in the dark.
And there’s little record of what happened with the theater troupe, leaving inquiries to only talk to the members themselves.
Things on the Night Watcher website can only serve as references.
In the end, she still doesn’t know the current state of her friends around her.
Zero Meow and White Fish must’ve grown from little lolis to young girls.
Of course, even if they weren’t lolis anymore, Night Star Lan would still be okay with cuddling them.
Friendship is eternal; it shouldn’t fade away because someone grows up.
But those who only like loli appearance and don’t like what happens post-growth, well, that’s pretty shallow.
Still, these are minor issues.
The real problem is she has no intentions of growing up herself!
Three years have passed with no noticeable height increase; she’s still just as small as in the beginning.
Looks like she’ll always be a little loli.
Generally speaking, Night Star Lan isn’t too bothered by this, actually a bit secretly delighted.
But thinking about tiny, cuddly lolis suddenly becoming tall enough to lift her…
Night Star Lan felt mortified.
How would she maintain her authority around friends like Zero Meow?
Probably just end up sticking her face on their bellies or chests, barely reaching their shoulders without even standing on tiptoe.
So pathetic!
Feels like the damsel in distress!
Sad!
Night Star Lan spiraled into a short bout of melancholy but quickly recovered.
Adaptation takes time.
Given that she comes from three years ago, there’s no way she’s ready for Zero Meow’s growth, but maybe in three years, she will be.
Admit that it needs time.
Night Star Lan skipped that adaptation process.
Leaving these thoughts behind,
She came here not to cuddle future Zero Meow et al., but to find Source of White, who only exists in the future.
That is the main reason she’s here.
Anyway, where’s this Source of White?
She had no clue.
What state is she in now?
No clue there either.
Maybe only after Wish Princess fully recovers will the search begin.
So what exactly could Night Lan do in the meantime?
Seems like a matter of fitting in with this future environment.
“Time to take a nap.”
With a mix of worry and excitement, she put down her phone and went into dreamland.
In the dream world,
Night Star Lan looked at the familiar setting and fell into deep thought again.
Who’d have thought that her power of creating a limitless dream remained after three years?
Just now, trying it worked right away.
What condition will the Dream Narrator be in in three years?
Thinking this through,
She tried calling him over.
“Dream Narrator! Bring your Dream Pursuer Yin over to meet me!”
A few seconds later,
The two familiar figures appeared silently: Dream Narrator and Dream Pursuer Yin.
They looked unchanged.
“Long time no see, I should say that? To my sense of time, it doesn’t feel like we’ve been apart long, but it’s been a year or two.”
“Really long.”
This means the Dream Narrator likely won’t help with future problems.
Or perhaps he can’t.
Then the Dream Narrator continued, “However, you’ve called on Dream Pursuer Yin very often, every night, almost.”
“Hehe~”
That sounds exactly like her.
Dream Pursuer Yin, this cute, soft, adorable little loli, who could ever match compared to Dream Narrator?
If Dream Narrator reclaimed her ability to enter limitless dreams,
Night Star Lan might get mad at him.
Because isn’t that practically taking away the loli by her side?
That’s taboo!
Obstructing her from cuddling with Dream Pursuer Yin would lead to a thousand deaths!
Regardless,
This limitless dream has become Night Star Lan and Dream Pursuer Yin’s private place for cuddling.
