Five Hundred and Twenty-Second Inventory
A short while ago, back to the previous night, in the woods on the outskirts of Kankdar City, Doro and Nephnis were standing in a clearing.
In the quiet forest, they were waiting for Satraya’s actions inside the distant villa. After sensing that Satraya’s operation had been successfully completed, Doro turned her gaze to Nephnis beside her and spoke directly.
“The operation there has succeeded. Let’s start ours.”
“Alright.” Hearing Doro’s words, Nephnis put on her face covering and then walked to one side of the clearing. On the ground there, a complete “Silence” magic array had already been drawn. On top of the array lay a fat corpse.
Approaching the magic array, Nephnis sat on the ground and began the summoning ritual. She still used Mazale’s corpse as an important medium to begin the second summoning. Seeing Nephnis start the summoning, Doro also put on her hooded cloak and used magnetism to suspend herself in the air, partially concealing herself.
Since Satraya had meticulously destroyed the soul-binding coffin that confined Mazale’s soul, Mazale’s soul could finally respond to Nephnis’ call. As the ritual progressed, a semi-transparent shadow gradually appeared above the corpse within the array. That was Mazale’s ghost. To facilitate communication, Doro did not impose too many restrictions on Mazale’s soul, allowing him some degree of autonomy.
After being successfully summoned, Mazale’s expression showed confusion. He looked around and saw Nephnis and Doro, who had concealed their identities with cloaks. Then, with a hint of unease and panic, he spoke.
“Where am I? Who are you?”
“You are now in the outskirts of Kankdar, not far from the prison where you were previously held. We broke your prison and summoned you here. You don’t need to know our identities; all you need to know is that we saved you, Prince.”
Facing the confused and panicked ghost of Mazale, Doro calmly said. Hearing Doro’s voice, Mazale first looked stunned, then thought for a moment, and then started muttering to himself.
“Imprisonment… Yes, after Robert’s d*mn henchmen killed me… I should have gone somewhere else, but suddenly I was sucked into a very small place where I couldn’t escape. I wanted to struggle… but no matter how long I struggled, it was useless. Eventually, I lost consciousness… until now…”
While speaking, Mazale’s ghost continued slowly. After hearing Mazale’s words, Doro immediately responded.
“It seems… you know who killed you, right? That makes things easier. Prince, I have a question for you. Do you want revenge?”
“Revenge…” Hearing Doro’s words, Mazale’s ghost was slightly startled and then stared at Doro, incredulously saying,
“Do you mean… can you help me take revenge? Help me get rid of Robert and Ma Aide, those old men?”
“I may not be able to k*ll them directly, but I can provide you with the opportunity for revenge. I can give you the chance to attend a trial, where you can personally bring down Robert and Ma Aide, and ensure they never rise again. However, you need to agree to one condition.”
Facing Mazale’s spirit, Doro calmly stated. Upon hearing Doro’s words, Mazale’s face showed anger, and he then asked,
“What condition? What do you need me to agree to in order to give me that chance at revenge?”
“Your property. I need everything you have left in this world.” Facing Mazale’s question, Doro straightforwardly stated her condition. After hearing Doro’s words, Mazale first looked stunned and then continued,
“Property? You want my property? Don’t joke around… Who are you anyway… wanting my property when you have nothing to do with me? Those were the hard-earned spoils I took from Ma Aide and his cronies! I still need that money in the future…”
“You don’t have a future anymore, Mazale. You’re dead,” Doro coldly reminded the seemingly unstable Mazale. Hearing Doro’s words, Mazale stood there stunned. He extended his hand and looked at his translucent body. For a moment, Mazale hadn’t fully realized he was dead, but after Doro’s words, he suddenly understood the reality of his d*ath and was momentarily stunned.
Seeing Mazale frozen in place, Doro didn’t hold back. She continued,
“You know, after you died, your soul was imprisoned by Robert’s people, right? So, what do you think they were trying to do by imprisoning your soul? They naturally didn’t want you to reveal the truth. Since they silenced your body, they would naturally silence your soul. Soon, they will try to eliminate your soul.
“To be direct, we went through great efforts to rescue your soul from Robert’s people. Now, they are looking for you everywhere. Without our protection, you will soon be summoned back through a ritual. At that point, you will only be waiting for your ultimate destruction.”
With a tone of intimidation, Doro spoke to Mazale’s ghost. Scared by Doro, Mazale immediately showed fear, and even his entire spirit body turned slightly white.
“Complete… destruction?”
“Yes, so make your choice, Prince Mazale. Use the secular wealth you won’t need in the afterlife to gain freedom of your soul and the opportunity for revenge. Or, cling to the illusory wealth and end up with your soul erased.”
Facing Mazale, Doro declared decisively. Listening to Doro’s words, Mazale’s ghost fell silent for a while before finally nodding silently, agreeing to Doro’s terms. Seeing Mazale submit, Doro couldn’t help but smile faintly and muttered,
“Very good. Prince, let’s talk about your inheritance matters next.”
…
Time resumed its normal course. In the daytime, in a certain coffee shop in Kankdar, Doro was sipping her sugared coffee while recalling the transaction she made with Mazale’s ghost shortly before.
That night, under Doro’s intimidation and temptation, Mazale’s ghost agreed to hand over all his worldly possessions to Doro.
After agreeing to the deal, Mazale immediately informed Doro that most of his assets were stored at the White Stone Craftsmen Guild branch in Kankdar. He first told Doro the location of the branch and then revealed the hiding places of the credentials for his accounts in the guild. Since Mazale was always cautious about his relatives regarding his assets, he had special preparations for such matters.
After learning about the hiding spots of Mazale’s credentials, Doro did not immediately go to retrieve them. Instead, she thought that since Mazale was dead, using just the credentials might not suffice. She then took out the “Navigation of the Literary Sea” and contacted a clockwork person in Tivyan, asking her about the regulations for transferring and inheriting assets left by clients in the White Stone Craftsmen Guild. She learned that a will signed with a seal, voluntary bl**d imprint, and soul imprint was required.
After understanding the relevant matters, Doro had Nephnis use Mazale’s soul to quickly write a will. After signing it, they used the bl**d from the corpse to make the bl**d imprint, and Mazale’s soul voluntarily made the soul imprint. According to Beverly, the guild had technology to verify whether the soul imprint was made voluntarily, so the will was crucial.
Later, Doro and Nephnis rushed to one of Mazale’s residences in Kankdar, where they retrieved the ring and the royal stamp of King Baruch from a hidden safe, further enhancing the authority of the will.
Through this series of efforts, Doro could now legally inherit all of Mazale’s assets within the framework of the guild. Currently, Nephnis was helping Doro check how much Mazale had deposited in the guild and whether any items could be retrieved.
‘Every cloud has a silver lining. Having obtained the soul of a prince, it wouldn’t be right not to take anything. Besides, I still need to help him take revenge. It’s only fair for him to pay for the revenge. Anyway, these things he won’t need anymore.’
Sitting in her seat, Doro thought. Although she knew she had to target Robert and Ma Aide indirectly to help Mazale “take revenge,” this did not stop her from finding opportunities to extort Mazale.
Inside the White Stone Craftsmen Guild branch, disguised as a pawnshop, in the secret trading chamber, Nephnis sat in a chair, patiently waiting for the staff behind the iron window to review the will. Meanwhile, Doro, connected to Nephnis’ senses, waited in a distant coffee shop.
Since the will was completed under Beverly’s guidance, Doro had no worries about any issues. Sure enough, after a long review lasting about an hour, there was finally a response from behind the window.
“Hello, Miss Carrida. The will you presented has no issues. We express our condolences for Prince Mazale’s unexpected d*ath. According to his wishes, you will now inherit all his assets held by the White Stone Craftsmen Guild and have access to his account.”
The staff of the White Stone Craftsmen Guild acknowledged the identity of the heir in the chamber. To dispel any doubts, Doro set the inheritor in the will as a woman named Carrida, who was described as Mazale’s lover in Kankdar whom he had become infatuated with during his debauchery. Due to Mazale’s infatuation with Carrida’s beauty and flattery, he had hastily made her the inheritor.
“Okay, thank you for your work. Can I now view my asset list?” Nephnis asked the iron window, which quickly replied,
“Yes, just a few more procedures… ”
After completing several procedures, Nephnis finally received a list detailing all of Mazale’s assets held by the White Stone Craftsmen Guild. Meanwhile, in the distant coffee shop, Doro stirred her coffee with a heated key while examining the list with Nephnis, understanding Mazale’s wealth.
Mazale’s assets mostly came from the large sums of wealth accumulated by the Baruch Dynasty over the years. These riches were taken out by the fleeing royal family when Adis fell and were divided among the factions in Kankdar. As the first prince, Mazale received a significant share.
Among Mazale’s assets in the guild, there was cash, securities, items, and real estate… The cash wasn’t much, totaling around three thousand pounds. The majority were other assets.
Mazale held shares in nearly ten different companies, most of which were located in the main continent’s major countries. Some of these were well-performing large companies, the kind Doro occasionally saw mentioned in newspapers. Although he held these shares in small amounts, collectively they amounted to a substantial asset.
Furthermore, Mazale owned four properties in Kankdar, three in Faraluo, and one in Iwig—almost all vacation villas purchased before he fled from Adis. Apart from these properties, he also had a collection of antique treasures he had brought out when escaping from Adis. Though these treasures had been divided among his relatives and were not many, selling them could still fetch a considerable sum.
Looking at the dense list of treasures, properties, and securities, both Nephnis in the stone chamber and Doro in the coffee shop were momentarily stunned. Stirring the coffee on the table, Doro forgot to stop for a moment.
Liquify, liquify, liquify… At this moment, all Doro could think about was turning these assets into cash. With such a large amount, liquidating them could easily yield tens of thousands of pounds… almost enough to rent a “Stone” divine blessing object! If she could turn these assets into cash, she would meet another condition for advancing to the Red Tier. This was indeed a great harvest!
‘Wow… No wonder he was a prince. He actually had so much money… If these assets can be liquidated, the divine blessing object on the ‘Stone’ side could be secured… But liquidating Mazale’s assets is somewhat troublesome and risky. I wonder if I can persuade Beverly to accept asset collateralization…’
Looking at the list, Doro thought excitedly. She felt grateful to Mazale for dying so well.
In her excitement, Doro continued scanning the list in Nephnis’ hands, looking for other valuable items to estimate their worth. As she scanned, she noticed something interesting at the bottom of the list.
That item was part of the treasures, and it was one of the few items marked with a clear name.
The name on the item was in Northern Ufeiga language, meaning… National Treasure Box.
