Chapter 23: Attracting Star Holders
Night Star and Loti Shana, along with Kong Yu Bai, returned to the Rising Sun Theater after a round in the Star Eclipse Nation.
Loti Shana continued spreading the king’s glory among the Star Eclipses even after they left.
Deprived of most of her powers, she seemed only capable of maintaining an impressive image this way.
How pitiful.
What?
It was Night Star who stripped her of power.
No big deal then.
The two returned to the theater.
Kong Yu Bai asked around.
“Does the Audience Performer wish to find the Origin of the Stars? My fellow theater group members and I can help you.”
“Oh… It’s too much trouble. Plus, it’s hard to find. Even the First Generation Star Eclipses couldn’t find any leads even after searching for so long. If you all go looking, you’d probably come back empty-handed too.”
Night Star hadn’t considered asking the theater group members for help.
Although the theater group would do whatever they could to meet her needs,
There were limits to what was possible.
If the First Generation Star Eclipses couldn’t find it, the theater members definitely couldn’t either.
So Night Star decided to wait until the Wish Princess recovered.
That would provide a better chance.
But Kong Yu Bai didn’t see it that way.
“If you haven’t found anything yet, how would you know it’s hopeless? Anyway, the Rising Sun Theater has a lot of idle time before the weekend anyway. Why not give it your best shot for the Audience Performer’s goal? What do you say?”
“Really?”
“Of course, you’re our Audience Performer, aren’t you? You helped us with our wishes; now it’s our turn to help you.”
Hearing this, Night Star felt deeply moved and didn’t know what to say.
Upon reflection:
She didn’t necessarily have to wait for the Wish Princess to recover to act.
Her companions were willing to help her and strive towards her goal.
She shouldn’t refuse them or assume they weren’t up to the task.
That would reflect a lack of trust in her friends.
She could rely on more than just the Wish Princess; she had her comrades by her side as well.
“Let’s look, we’ll try our best. Even if we don’t find it, there’s no need to be too disappointed.”
Night Star softly responded to Kong Yu Bai, accepting their offer of help.
Heh heh~
Kong Yu Bai laughed lightly and called in other group members.
Even Mo Rabbit showed up this time.
Guqiu, there too, just to add to the numbers.
Now that they knew the Audience Performer wanted to find the Source of White, they were all eager to help, even if it was something that didn’t exist.
What’s “unfindable”?
They had no idea.
Mo Rabbit sighed softly, feeling like she wouldn’t escape this one.
“Forget it, if we can’t find it, don’t blame me.”
Night Star couldn’t help but laugh.
“Didn’t you just say you didn’t want to?”
“Peer pressure, that’s all.”
“Arrogant cutie.”
“Stop messing around, arrogant cuties are out of style.”
Mo Rabbit felt exhausted at heart.
Following Night Lan made life exciting, but the price was inner torment.
If she wasn’t mentally strong enough, she wouldn’t withstand it.
“If you want to find the Source of White, you need to identify her. Can’t just wander around aimlessly, right, Audience Performer?”
“Yeah… You’re right.”
Night Star started reflecting.
The Dream Narrator did mention the human form characteristics of the Source of White.
Firstly, she’s a cute little loli.
Neither stars nor Star Eclipses change shape over time, so she likely won’t grow up.
“Source of White, when human, is about a meter and forty centimeters tall with long white hair and pale gray eyes. She’s pretty, almost dandy-ish. You can use herself as reference for comparison, beyond that, she is pretty much expressionless.”
These were descriptions given by the Dream Narrator.
If she truly encountered her, she’d recognize her instantly.
Mo Rabbit nodded thoughtfully.
“What if her form isn’t human?”
“Well…”
Night Star quickly recalled the status of the Origin of Kuro.
That thing was a ball.
“I’m not sure what other forms the Origin of White has, but if you encounter any glowing orbs or suspicious objects, make sure to check them.”
Just then, Night Star remembered something crucial.
“Right, the Origin of Kuro has a trait: it attracts its kind to itself, and exerts great allure over Star Eclipse Embodiments. The Origin of White might share that quality. Keep that in mind.”
Star Eclipse Kuro attracts Star Eclipses.
Likely, the Star White would attract Star Holders.
Makes sense, right?
If that’s true:
Sending theater group members to hunt would be unwise; she should send the Night Watchers instead.
Granted, in some ways, it’d be inconvenient for Night Star to fully utilize Night Watcher resources.
A misstep could lead to chaos—more people knowing about the Origin of the Stars is bad news.
Fortunately, not all Star Eclipses were Star Eclipse Embodiments.
Take Kong Yu Bai, for example. She could shift between Star Eclipses and humans. Once human again, she becomes a Star Holder.
Same goes for Book Yao, a genuine human now, once possessed the Star named [Immortal], now still a Star Holder.
And Mo Rabbit.
She became a Star Holder without turning into a Star Eclipse.
Given that, finding her wouldn’t be overly difficult.
The question remains:
The Origin of White could be hiding anywhere in this world.
Night Star didn’t know her exact location.
A full geographical search by coordinates via Theatre Door would take astronomical amounts of time.
Not to mention considering the routes…
The difficulty level is Hellish.
If it’s hard to search one country thoroughly, imagine adding international borders.
Just then, Night Star felt Kong Yu Bai stroking her head.
“Don’t overthink it, let’s try searching. You never know, luck might be on our side. Giving up before trying is too casual.”
“True.”
“And I have a suggestion.”
Mo Rabbit raised her hand, possibly proposing something.
“How about dividing the search areas? In these three years, we’ve performed in many cities, and we’ve left markers in those cities. Travel through the Theatre Doors would be faster. Each group member checks one city. That way, we might stand a better chance.”
Night Star frowned slightly.
“One group member per city… Would that be too inefficient?”
Mo Rabbit gave her the blank stare.
“You actually think we can only depend on the Rising Sun Theatre? Aren’t you the leader of the Graveyard Star Eclipses? With Star Eclipse Nation’s star eclipses willingly following your commands, wielding even a bit of Night Lan’s power could garner a lot of support. Even utilizing mere star eclipses alone would be a substantial force.”
“Oh…”
Night Star realized.
While using Night Watchers directly might be tricky, mobilizing star eclipses from Star Eclipse Nation would be smoother.
On the surface, Graveyard Star Eclipses fall under Night Lan’s domain.
With a request to the Leader, she could freely deploy star eclipses.
Thus, a large helping hand!
That way, they had plenty of allies!
