Chapter 28: Inside Scoop
After finishing breakfast, Night Star Lan was ready to head out.
Of course, Night Lan had to continue wallowing in the warm embrace of the girls.
As for Night Star, well, he would have to go out and find his own fun.
After all, the Rising Sun Theater was virtually empty.
The only thing left hanging on him was the puppet known as Little Lian.
Little Lian was given by Lianhua as a safety measure, entrusted to accompany and protect Night Star.
This time, Night Star planned to visit the headquarters of the Star Network Organization, which also happened to be located in Yun Chang City—a decision probably influenced by how often Night Lan stayed there.
The Night Watcher website had a pretty detailed description of the Star Network Organization, but some things can only truly be understood through experience.
So, Night Star wanted a firsthand look.
And why not Night Lan? Well, she’d much rather stick close with White Fish and company.
Night Star was the only one with time on his hands.
He could just use his existence-lower spell, [Existence Interference], if trouble arose.
The goal was to keep a low profile during the infiltration.
No need to attract any unwanted drama.
A few moments later…
Night Star hopped out of his Star Chariot near the Star Network Organization headquarters and stealthily made his way inside.
It’s unlikely anyone would notice someone with such a sparse presence.
Of course, it wasn’t a guarantee, so he wore a disguise beforehand.
Absolute safety at last!
The Star Network Organization’s headquarters turned out to be an office building, although not nearly as grandiose as the Night Watcher Base.
Still, given their progress, they were quite impressive.
Legend has it that this organization had wealthy patrons who used their personal fortunes to keep things going during tough times—each bit of funding helping to push them to where they are now.
It wouldn’t surprise anyone if these benefactors funded this very building.
“Mm, is this really my fan club? Whoa, Yun Bo actually managed something like this? That guy is truly remarkable.”
Heck, calling it a fan club was a bit misleading. It was more of a backup plan created by Yun Bo.
Regardless of whether Night Lan affected the conflict between the Star Eclipses and Star Holders, Yun Bo would likely still meddle from behind the scenes using the Star Network’s power.
Even if the chances were slim, it could still create some turmoil.
His individual strength may not be enough, but the accumulated force within the group would surely draw attention.
These weren’t just any run-of-the-mill members; many were apparently stronger than regular Night Watchers.
Some might even rival Sunlight himself, clearly masters hiding in plain sight.
Moreover, there were top-tier Star Eclipses providing additional support—a product of Yun Bo’s recruitment efforts during his nomadic days.
With research on Star Eclipses and Star Holders, they could temporarily seal off Star Eclipse pollution, paving the way for coexistence within the network.
Though still not on par with Night Star Lan’s immense powers.
Labeling it as a “seal” implied merely keeping lower-grade Star Eclipses at bay; high-grade ones posed significant limits.
Doing it without Night Lan’s help spoke volumes about their capabilities.
Perhaps Yun Bo would’ve realized his aspirations, even in Night Star Lan’s absence.
Such a scenario wasn’t out of the question—just a matter of time.
“Hmm, guess I’ll sneak in for a peek.”
Night Star didn’t plan on notifying anyone; he slipped in furtively, looking suspiciously untrustworthy.
But with diminished presence, people instinctively overlooked him, making him stride confidently forward.
Interestingly, Night Star was curious about the workings of the Star Network.
Said to support her will, how precisely was another matter.
Without clear goals, a collective effort could easily fall apart.
Thinking this over, Night Star wandered internally, nonchalantly gathering info as people passed by, completely undisturbed.
Then, he spotted an electronic screen mapping the interior departments—a handy tool for navigating around.
“Ooh, kinda neat…”
He leaned closer, intending to get the gist.
Similar facilities existed in the Night Watcher Base.
Not only did these screens show internal layouts, but clicking revealed each department’s functions—convenient and informative.
While the official Night Watcher site offered some details about the Star Network, they seemed sparse compared to what was right before him.
Night Star had no desire to read lengthy texts then; a brief glance sufficed.
“Wait, Funeral Department?”
Something odd about a department name caught his eye.
It exuded a combative vibe.
Maybe it focused on battle?
Nope. Opening it up revealed its true purpose.
Their aim was not to defeat but to fulfill Star Eclipses’ obsessions, letting them vanish naturally.
Lower-tier Star Eclipses could be resolved relatively gently.
Top-tier ones, however, demanded more persistence.
Low-tier Star Eclipses might dissipate after a single fulfillment.
High-tier ones required prolonged satisfaction—an arduous condition.
Glancing at the department head, he recognized an acquaintance.
“Li Yan? Isn’t he that half-Star Eclipse guy from Pinghai City?”
Night Star remembered him fondly.
For saving Star Sheng and Shiyu Qianyi on their dying breaths.
He couldn’t imagine those little Lolis still existing without his aid.
Li Yan associating with Yun Bo felt both expected yet surprising.
“Mm, getting increasingly interesting.”
Based on what he gathered, the Star Network aimed primarily at solving disputes between Star Eclipses and Star Holders.
In this, they surpassed Night Watchers in professionalism and dedication.
Night Watchers focused on maintaining order, whereas Star Eclipses handled conflicts between humans and Star Eclipses, promoting peaceful resolution.
Still, they seemed to encroach on Night Watchers’ turf somewhat.
Beyond Yun Chang City, branches sprouted elsewhere, growing steadily.
Should they advance further, China’s star-related organizations would likely split into Night Watchers and the Star Network, handling Star Eclipse incidents collaboratively.
Both factions operated legitimately, dedicated to justice and order, improving national security.
Quite impressive.
Night Star perused additional information on the electronic screen.
Besides the Funeral Department, combat units also appeared.
Clearly, the Star Network boasted formidable fighting abilities to address troublemakers.
More than one Sunlight-tier Star Holder might exist.
There were combat-ready Star Eclipses too.
This blend of both forces was Yun Bo’s brainchild.
Combining Star Eclipse Embodiments and Starholders, they worked shoulder-to-shoulder.
Night Star admired this arrangement.
“Ugh, almost as half-capable as me.”
Of course, the Star Network encompassed other units, well-organized and integrated.
No loose ends here.
“I wonder what else is interesting… Maybe I should ask Mo Rabbit for more info…”
