Chapter 31: Old Husband and Old Wife
Night Star stayed in the HR department, sitting right next to Luo Xi.
“Um… can you tell me about the first time we met? I’m a bit curious…”
“How should I put it…”
Night Star waited with eager anticipation.
There was no doubt that Luo Xi was an incredibly adorable Loli.
Her features were so delicate it was as if the creator himself had carved them out with painstaking detail. Her skin looked snow-white, smooth, and soft—more enticing than any skincare routine could ever achieve.
Her long black hair resembled a night sky full of stars, flowing and soft, almost making one feel that if they reached out to touch it, they’d uncover a hidden galaxy.
And those eyes—serving as windows to her soul. While they lacked the vibrant colors of Night Star and Night Lan, they held a mysterious allure, as if they contained the wisdom of ages. No matter what happened, her gaze remained calm and unwavering.
Luo Xi didn’t look like an ordinary girl from a regular family.
Well, that makes sense.
Being the HR director of the Star Network Organization was proof enough of her extraordinary nature.
Mysterious, adorable.
That was Night Star’s first impression of Luo Xi.
But how did she end up as friends—and even lovers—with her?
Maybe it was a legendary story, just like the tale of Lianhua.
Maybe she even used the Wish Machine to grant Luo Xi’s wish.
Otherwise, how would she know about the identity of the Audience Performer?
And becoming lovers surely involved a lengthy backstory.
Night Star was super curious about all this.
Now, she just had to wait for Luo Xi to share it.
No matter if there were embellishments, she wanted to hear it all.
Of course, Luo Xi didn’t jump into it right away; Night Star thought she was just organizing her thoughts.
But that wasn’t the case at all.
Luo Xi was trying to come up with a reasonable story—until she finally gave up.
“We met in a very ordinary way, became friends in a very ordinary way, and became lovers in a very ordinary way. That’s it.”
“Ah, what?”
Night Star tilted her head in confusion.
Didn’t it feel like she skipped a whole chapter?
Something wasn’t right!
“Luo Xi, you’re joking, right?”
“Yep.”
“Why not tell me? Maybe I’ll regain my memories once I hear it!”
Of course, that was just nonsense.
Night Star was merely super curious.
Luo Xi shook her head.
“Too much trouble, I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Um…”
One had to admit.
This Loli had quite the personality.
How on earth had her future self confirmed the relationship with Luo Xi?
No matter how you looked at it, their relationship couldn’t have been as intimate as with White Fish and the others.
Could it be that she was a bit of a masochist?
The colder the other party, the more excited she got?
What the heck!
There had to be something strange about this!
Of course, Night Star couldn’t figure it out just yet.
She’d have to wait until the Wish Princess woke up to confirm the situation.
“Then let’s talk about something else. How old are you?”
“Guess.”
“I can’t guess! Just tell me~”
“Nope.”
No matter how Night Star pleaded, Luo Xi maintained her secretive demeanor.
It seemed like being cute had no effect on her.
Night Star gave up.
“Is that even legal? You can’t just leave me hanging!”
“It is legal.”
“Well, I’m glad about that! At least now I won’t feel guilty about such risqué talk.”
Even if Night Star was a Loli enthusiast, she still had her principles.
At that moment, Luo Xi reached out and gently stroked Night Star’s cheek.
“Um!”
Night Star’s face began to heat up, a shy blush spreading across her cheeks.
Regardless of what kind of relationship Luo Xi had with her future self, to Night Star right now, she was just a newly acquainted friend.
Wasn’t it a bit too fast to go for the touchy-feely right away?
She hadn’t even thought about cuddling yet!
Shouldn’t they develop feelings first before getting all close and personal?
No way.
It seemed like Luo Xi didn’t worry about such things; maybe they were already like an old married couple!
As Night Star’s mind began to spiral into ridiculous thoughts, Luo Xi pulled her hand away, not pursuing further.
“Eh?”
Once again, Night Star was stunned.
Did it feel like Luo Xi was playing with her?
Before she could ask, Luo Xi explained herself.
“I don’t like the masked version of you. Next time you come to see me, take off the mask.”
Even though Luo Xi could see right through the mask, it still made her uncomfortable.
“Um?”
Only then did Night Star realize the mask on her face had disappeared.
That mask wasn’t a physical object; it was just an illusion created by “concept interference.” Who would’ve thought Luo Xi could dismiss it so casually?
So this Loli was pretty impressive, huh?
Night Star didn’t dwell on it too much and quickly became anxious.
“What if someone comes and I’m unmasked? I really don’t want to expose my identity; that would be a huge disaster!”
“Don’t worry, no one’s coming.”
Just then, Night Star heard the sound of a mechanical door closing, and her expression turned strange.
“You locked the door?”
“Yep.”
“But what if someone shows up at the HR department?”
“Just act like we’re not here.”
Luo Xi said it so skillfully; it seemed like she had done this a lot.
How strange for an HR director to be slacking off like that.
But Night Star totally understood.
If she had that kind of job, she’d find every excuse to slack off too—no way would she want to work overtime; she’d rather chill!
It looked like Luo Xi was also a fan of slacking off, huh?
That made it seem like they had common ground.
“Luo Xi, why did you decide to work here?”
“Because I was bored. My life until now has been like that, so I wanted to find a job to pass the time. Is that a problem?”
“No problem. Although I get bored sometimes, I don’t want to work; I’d rather nest in the warm comfort of my friends.”
Night Star could spend her time just lounging comfortably.
Her companions were more than enough to alleviate her loneliness, and cuddling with Lolis was just pure happiness—she wouldn’t get tired of that every single day.
Besides, the Rising Sun Theater Group offered exciting performances every day. Watching the theater members perform was way better than boring work.
She could totally accept just continuing like this.
But sometimes she had the urge to do something that didn’t align with her slacking-off routine.
Luo Xi looked at Night Star blandly.
“Do you feel happy?”
“Yeah.”
“Looks like you don’t have any worries.”
“Not really; I’m currently looking for someone. If I can’t find them, it’ll still bother me.”
Night Star let out a slight sigh.
Hearing that, Luo Xi fell silent for a moment.
“What would you do if you found her?”
“I don’t know; it would depend on the situation. Let’s just start looking and see what happens.”
“Got it. I hope you find her.”
“Thanks for the blessing~”
The two continued to chat for a long time.
In that brief exchange, Night Star finally relaxed and sort of adapted to Luo Xi’s presence.
Of course, she still couldn’t see her as a lover; she couldn’t bring herself to go for the cuddles.
It all felt a bit strange.
