### Chapter 64: Furrowed Brows
Night Lan strolled into Xiao Jin’s office.
“Boss! I have something to ask you!”
Night Lan barged into the office unceremoniously, looking as if she couldn’t wait any longer.
“Oh?”
Xiao Jin sat at his desk, slightly puzzled by Night Lan’s sudden visit.
“Is there anything I can help with?”
“Yes!”
Xiao Jin immediately broke into an amiable smile.
“Then come sit down and tell me all about it. I will do my best to fulfill your request.”
Night Lan took a seat on the chair next to him.
“In fact, I just want to ask you about someone.”
“Who is it?”
“I want to meet a girl, and her parents apparently used to be your old war buddies.”
“If that’s the case, I should be able to help you out. What’s her name?”
“Her name is Luo Xi. She has black hair and black eyes, and she’s about one meter forty tall. She’s really cute. Do you remember her?”
Upon hearing this, Xiao Jin fell deep into thought, as if he was sifting through memories.
“Luo Xi… Luo Xi…”
Xiao Jin furrowed his brow, having no recollection of the name.
He did have many old war buddies with kids who made it big, and they often boasted about their offspring’s achievements. If their daughters were cute, he would have heard about it for sure.
But now…
There was nothing in his mind about “Luo Xi.”
What the heck?
He would never forget something like this.
If he were too forgetful, he wouldn’t have been able to lead anyone.
Could Night Lan have the wrong information?
“Sorry, I don’t recall this, nor do I have any memory of a girl named Luo Xi.”
“Huh? Isn’t it possible to have made a mistake?”
Night Lan would never make such a mistake. Xiao Jin himself had mentioned her name before. It had to be accurate. Even future Xiao Jin could remember Luo Xi!
Why couldn’t this Xiao Jin remember her?
A bad feeling crept over Night Lan.
“Mmm… Let’s check the database.”
“Okay.”
Seeing how anxious Night Lan seemed, Xiao Jin swiftly opened the database and searched for “Luo Xi.”
Night Lan quickly added more details in the future, hoping to help narrow down the search.
A whole minute later, instead of information on Luo Xi, what appeared on the screen was blank.
Now Night Lan was truly stunned.
“Why… isn’t there any?”
Luo Xi’s info was so detailed in the future, right down to childhood pictures. Yet…
Nothing in the database.
It was as if Luo Xi simply didn’t exist!
Impossible!
Or was there something she overlooked?
Night Lan sank into silence.
Xiao Jin tried to comfort her.
“Don’t worry, Night Lan. Maybe the girl changed some details, so she’s not showing up in the database. If she’s real, we’re bound to find her eventually.”
“That can’t be it. This is weird as hell!”
Night Lan’s mind raced over strange situations in the future with Luo Xi.
In the warmth of Luo Xi’s care, Night Lan overlooked little inconsistencies. Luo Xi meant no harm to her, but she kept secrets from the beginning.
Luo Xi knew all of Night Star’s secrets but Night Star knew nothing of Luo Xi’s!
Even then…
Night Star still trusted Luo Xi with affection and safety.
But now…
Things were a whole different story since Night Star came back to this timeline. A major issue has arisen.
Night Star originally wanted to immediately find Luo Xi after returning to this point and build a friendship. Not just a random visit, but through Xiao Jin’s channels.
That’d be less awkward.
But now…
Xiao Jin can’t even remember who Luo Xi is.
What’s going on!
Doesn’t the future match the past?
While Bai Yu, Lian Hua’s tales didn’t change.
Even if it’s a parallel world, every detail still matches.
The only difference is with the Origin of Kuro and the Origin of White.
One doesn’t have the Origin of Kuro; the other doesn’t have the Origin of White.
If there’s anything off between future and now, it must be with Star’s Origin.
Luo Xi hasn’t left any trace in this timeline.
Does this mean she’s somehow close to the Origin of White?
Realizing this, Night Lan couldn’t believe it.
Unconsciously, her mood shifted from cheerful to gloomy.
Her initial excitement quickly cooled.
Xiao Jin winced at Night Lan’s despair.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t help.”
“No worries, it’s not your fault. Yesterday, I met a girl named Luo Xi during a trip to three years ahead. Wanted to get closer before coming back, yet… things went south… I’m such an idiot for not realizing it earlier…”
“Future…”
Xiao Jin’s lip twitched.
Night Lan sure surprised him. Except, she looked really out of sorts. Xiao Jin held back from diving deeper.
Better leave Night Lan to address her current issues.
Xiao Jin cared deeply about her state of mind. Happy or sad, he just wanted her to be okay soon.
“Do you need me to gather the Night Watchers for help? Maybe something went wrong somewhere—uniting the Night Watchers might shed light on this sooner.”
“No thanks, I’ll take care of this myself,” Night Lan rejected the offer.
Not that she wasn’t grateful.
Night Lan felt something off. Since leaving Luo Xi and Bai Yu’s cozy embrace, her logical thoughts reappeared.
Getting too close to the one she liked dulled her senses. Night Star always overlooked crucial things.
When Night Star got close to someone, she easily ignored their genuine care and warmth—too hard to resist.
Back then, too tired and scared to think much. Relied too heavily on others for reassurance, especially Luo Xi.
With Luo Xi around, Night Star never felt unsafe, almost like having a super Wish Princess.
Having that innocent-looking loli take care of her made Night Star feel incapable of being useless.
Therein lied the issue.
