Chapter 73 Arrived Late
Night Star Lan walked through the Theater Door.
The moment she stepped in, she got this weird feeling.
“Mmm… I feel like I forgot something important… What could it be?”
Night Star Lan took a few seconds to think about it.
But when she couldn’t figure it out, she just gave up and moved on.
What mattered most was getting to the future timeline.
She had to find Luo Xi!
A white light flashed by.
Night Star Lan woke up groggily, realizing she was back in bed.
This was the Fish Playing House.
And it was also the Fish Playing House three years in the future.
Night Star picked up her phone and saw that, sure enough, it was three years later.
How wonderful.
“I did it…”
Arriving at this point again gave Night Star Lan a sense of relief.
She had thought she wouldn’t make it back due to the Origin of White’s lockdown.
She managed to get through that, too.
Now it was time to find Luo Xi!
First, Night Star went to the Rising Sun Theater, quickly gathering all the other members.
After a while…
All the members except for the Group Leader and the Announcer showed up.
Kong Yu Bai stared at Night Star Lan with suspicion.
“Audience Performer… You seem a bit different. Did you forget your own name?”
Night Star Lan had been away from this timeline for one day already.
During that period, future Night Star Lan had regained consciousness, easing everyone’s worries.
But not long after, Night Star Lan became weird again, naturally causing more confusion among the group.
Night Star Lan didn’t want to explain the details now.
“Never mind those little things; I need your help!”
Hearing Night Star Lan ask for assistance, the group members became serious.
“We’ll do our best to help regardless.”
“Thanks everyone. Now, where is the Announcer and the Group Leader?”
Mo Rabbit was somewhat normal.
She was after all the only rebel in the entire Rising Sun Group.
Occasional tardiness or absence were normal, but it was strange that the always-present Group Leader was missing.
This intrigued many.
Kong Yu Bai answered Night Star’s question swiftly.
“The Group Leader left the Rising Sun Group recently, we don’t know why… And the Announcer should arrive later.”
“Huh… Is that so?”
Night Star furrowed her brows, thinking there might be a crucial detail she overlooked.
But with her urgent desire to find Luo Xi, she couldn’t focus on trivial matters.
Then, Mo Rabbit appeared in the Rising Sun Theater.
“What’s this meeting about? If it’s boring, I’m out.”
Mo Rabbit’s appearance interrupted Night Star’s thoughts.
“Stare—”
Night Star locked eyes with Mo Rabbit and rushed over, grabbing her collar.
“Tell me! Are you a traitor? If you’re not honest, don’t say I won’t be mad!”
Mo Rabbit was stunned and confused.
But within ten seconds, she realized what Night Star meant and had an epiphany.
“Oh, you came back. Of course, anyone would try if they felt they’ve been tricked. Anything I can help with?”
Night Star puffed up her cheeks in displeasure.
“After all these shenanigans, you knew the truth. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I never intended to be the mole! I was controlled by the Origin of White; I couldn’t control myself, either physically or mentally. After discovering the truth, I dared not speak, knowing that terrifying force was watching over you. I wouldn’t dare risk my life for this information either.”
Of course, Luo Xi never meant any harm to Night Star.
Otherwise, life wouldn’t have mattered much.
Even if she lost her life resisting the Origin of White, Night Star would wish for her resurrection.
But even so, Mo Rabbit’s courage couldn’t change anything.
She was too weak to resist.
If she had sought out the truth, she’d have been controlled again.
Maintaining her sanity was better than being a puppet.
Mo Rabbit understood exactly what to do.
“Ugh…”
Hearing Mo Rabbit’s explanation, Night Star released her grip.
“So everything from the meeting point to the secrets were orchestrated by her? That’s extreme…”
Mo Rabbit adjusted her collar.
“Maybe she found you interesting. Most humans probably can’t get her attention.”
“But couldn’t she have played fair instead?”
“Well, how fast does romance happen? With your personality, it might take forever to get close. But perhaps for some guy from the future, it could be achieved in days.”
“Eh? Who are you talking about?”
“Who else? You!”
“That’s terrible!”
Suddenly Night Star wanted to tie Mo Rabbit up and give her a beating, but it wasn’t the right time.
She’d need to wait for another day.
Right now, finding Luo Xi was the priority.
“Hmm… We’ll talk later. Right now, I gotta go find Luo Xi.”
After a moment, Mo Rabbit replied.
“This might be tricky. I forgot to mention something…”
At the same time,
Ye Lan arrived at a certain apartment building, quickly heading to her familiar floor.
“Didn’t see that coming.”
Ye Lan walked to the door of Luo Xi’s house and pressed the doorbell, hoping to hear a voice or see someone open the door.
A while passed.
Nothing happened as Ye Lan imagined.
“Huh?”
Ye Lan tilted her head and used Flash to enter the inner living room.
When she scanned the place, she froze.
“This…”
The entire place looked deserted.
There were no signs of anyone living here.
Everything was unfamiliar.
Absolutely opposite to its usual cozy setting.
Next, Ye Lan entered Luo Xi’s bedroom.
Every layout was alien.
There were no remnants of her presence.
No clothes, daily items, or even smell.
After noticing something terrible,
she started searching every corner.
No luck finding any trace of Luo Xi.
Not a single piece of clothing, everyday item, or scent remained.
Moreover,
she visited other rooms but found no traces of Luo Xi’s three family members.
It was as if the entire family vanished.
“Am I too late?”
Ye Lan fell silent.
She quietly sat on the couch where she used to rest her head against Luo Xi’s.
Just two days ago, they were living together.
Now,
everything was gone.
