Chapter 79

Chapter 79: The Relatives Are Back Again

Since Xia Ling’s holiday wasn’t over yet, Xia Yu didn’t have to go to school the next day either and could rest comfortably at home.

So when Xia Yu woke up the next day, she unexpectedly saw Xia Ling hugging her while they both slept. Seeing Xia Ling sleeping so soundly made Xia Yu feel oddly warm, and this odd feeling… was quite enjoyable, actually.

But despite this, Xia Yu still gently moved Xia Ling’s little arm away from her and promptly got out of the princess bed, eager to be on her own.

Why? Because Xia Yu suddenly felt a mild pain in her lower abdomen and recognized it—it was that familiar monthly visitor, something Xia Ling had once mentioned—her period.

Though Xia Yu wasn’t sure why she was delaying it by nearly half a month, she was thankful she was at home. Otherwise, if she were in the hospital, let’s just say that would be quite an awkward situation.

To avoid waking Xia Ling, Xia Yu quietly opened the door and slowly left, carefully closing the door behind her.

Even though Xia Yu tried her best to be quiet, the slight sounds still woke Xia Ling. Once Xia Yu left, Xia Ling, who was now holding nothing but empty air in the princess bed, frowned slightly…

When Xia Yu left Xia Ling’s room, she started limping back to her own with a single crutch. She needed to get a sanitary napkin before her discomfort got worse; she could still feel everything was dry at the moment.

She took out a sanitary napkin, having done this before, and thus wasn’t completely unfamiliar with the process, even if she wasn’t entirely at ease with it yet.

Just as Xia Yu finished putting on the sanitary napkin and adjusted her pants, someone suddenly pounded on her door. The knocks were urgent and loud.

“Xiao Yu, Xiao Yu! What are you doing inside? Could you open the door? Please don’t do anything silly.”

Upon hearing her mother’s anxious voice, Xia Yu immediately stuffed the sanitary napkin packaging into her pocket, trying hard not to leave any trace.

Then she turned around and opened the door.

As soon as the door opened, before Xia Yu could react, her mother Wang Wenjuan embraced her fiercely. Perhaps it was the power of maternal love.

Afterward, Wang Wenjuan seemed to remember something and urgently checked on Xia Yu’s body, like pulling up Xia Yu’s sleeve to see her arm. Finding that Xia Yu wasn’t hurting herself, she sighed in relief, “Xiao Yu, what were you doing? Why did you lock the door?”

It turned out that Xia Ling woke up when she noticed Xia Yu getting up and assumed Xia Yu was downstairs for breakfast. So, she too went down to eat, only to find Xia Yu wasn’t there.

Next, Xia Ling thought maybe Xia Yu had gone out, so she asked her mother, who was preparing breakfast, but it turned out Xia Yu hadn’t come downstairs. Wang Wenjuan hadn’t seen her.

Suddenly, Wang Wenjuan remembered what Xia Yu’s psychologist said at the hospital, “Although Xia Yu is more stable now, there is still a high risk of relapse. So, we need to be extra careful after we go home. Try not to let her go alone to any dangerous places.” Sometimes, a sudden ill thought could lead to tragic outcomes.

Instantly recalling the psychologist’s words, Wang Wenjuan became anxious, “Xiao Ling, go check the rooftop. I’ll check her room.”

With that, Wang Wenjuan rushed upstairs, and Xia Ling, understanding the seriousness of the situation, followed her mother up to the rooftop.

Fortunately, Wang Wenjuan found Xia Yu safe and sound in her room. Despite Xia Yu’s mental state, she was still her flesh and bl**d and couldn’t help but worry.

Hearing her mother’s questions, Xia Yu was at a loss for words. She couldn’t tell the truth, could she?

Seeing Xia Yu reluctant to speak, Wang Wenjuan didn’t push further but instead softened her tone, “Xiao Yu, your mom made breakfast downstairs. Let’s go down and eat, okay?”

This time, Xia Yu responded with a nod, “Hmm…”

Meanwhile, Xia Ling had come down from checking the rooftop, panting heavily. Seeing Xia Yu next to their mother, she lunged forward and gave her a big bear hug, “Second brother, where did you go? You scared me stiff!”

Listening to Xia Ling’s slightly choked voice, Xia Yu felt terrible because she didn’t want her family to worry about her, but it seemed inevitable.

Responding to Xia Ling’s question, Xia Yu, still unsure how to answer, remained silent. Xia Ling knew her secret, but Mom was there too.

In the end, Wang Wenjuan chuckled and answered for Xia Yu, “Alright, let’s go down and eat before the noodles get mushy.”

Hearing her mother, Xia Ling dropped the subject and still held Xia Yu’s arm as they descended, not sure why but feeling comfort in it, since they were sisters.

Grandpa and Grandma had already left early, as Wang Wenjuan would watch Xia Yu. They had stuff to do.

While eating noodles, Wang Wenjuan noticed Xia Yu and Xia Ling’s disheveled hair, since both had just woken up. She grabbed a hair tie and offered to fix Xia Yu’s hair, asking worriedly, “Xiao Yu, shall we go out for a walk after this? Wouldn’t staying home get boring?”

“Doesn’t bother me,” Xia Yu replied.

What could Wang Wenjuan say? She’d let Xia Yu be. In fact, she wasn’t particularly fond of going out.

However, just as they finished breakfast, several middle-aged men and women arrived with fruit in hand.

Xia Yu and Xia Ling noticed right away and spotted their homeroom teacher, Wang Ruixue, among the men.
