### Chapter 44: Focus on Mo Yu, Get Pwned Every Day
The butler stood before Night Star.
“Miss, the master requests your presence. Would you kindly come with this old man?”
Fluent words flowed from his mouth as if someone had given him superhuman intelligence.
Night Star clenched her small pink fists and got into a fighting stance. She looked utterly unconvincing.
“You… you better not come closer or I’m gonna be really tough!”
Yeah, right. In her heart, she was sh*t scared.
Oh no, she was about to get ganked. Could anyone save her little munchkin?
Just then, like a superhero hearing her cry for help, a reliable voice rang out.
“I’m here!”
With his words still hanging in the air, a blur of movement charged behind the butler and grabbed his body, launching him like a rag doll.
Phew…
Night Star breathed a sigh of relief. It felt so d*mn good to have someone swooping in to save the day.
It was Mo Yu again. His eye patch was off, revealing bl**d-red eyes that looked disturbingly exotic.
Mo Yu glanced at Night Star and grinned.
“How’s that? I’m quite timely, right? Don’t thank me; after all, I used to be the most efficient killer alive.”
“Wow, so cool!” Night Star complimented, despite herself.
Mo Yu stretched and warmed up. He looked back at the butler, who had yet to be vanquished.
“You can leave now. I’ll cover you. Don’t want anyone else cornering us. Just stay in the base, why don’t you?”
“Uh, ’cause there’re some things I gotta do,” said Night Star, scratching her head. She was ready to go.
Before leaving, she suddenly remembered something, “By the way… That guy didn’t seem like an ordinary puppet. You should be careful.”
“Don’t worry. I’ve got it.”
“Alright, I’m out. You keep it up, big brother emo!”
And with that, Night Star high-tailed it out of there.
“Big Brother emo…”
Mo Yu smirked, then quickly refocused on the figure he’d just thrown.
The butler had risen from the ground, exuding a terrifying aura that pressed down on everyone nearby.
Mo Yu eyed him coldly.
“Oh? Not human? Pure star eclipse artifact? Alright, no need for mercy then.”
“That’s rather rude. So you must be one of the troublemakers mentioned by the boss? Well, time to clean you up.”
The butler’s chilling voice cut through the air, and he lunged at Mo Yu.
The puppet moved incredibly fast, as if hovering near the ground pulled by invisible threads!
Whoosh!
A gust of wind roared by.
The butler dashed toward Mo Yu, reaching for his neck.
But suddenly, his hand went empty.
Mo Yu had vanished, reappearing behind him.
“Haha.”
Mo Yu chuckled coldly, one hand gripping the butler’s neck, the other grabbing his wooden skull.
“Forget to mention, I use illusionary arts too. Ever seen one affect reality?”
“What?”
“Your twilight has come. Surrender your head.”
Mo Yu’s eyes glinted with killing intent. With a burst of strength, he twisted the butler’s head off.
Click!
“Feels d*mn good.”
Mo Yu tossed the head carelessly, a nostalgic smile on his face.
“I haven’t used my killing skills in ages. It feels great.”
He used to be one of the top assassins, striking fear into anyone involved in dark circles due to his deadly reputation.
But after growing tired of it all, he retired.
It was only when Yao Can invited him that he became a guard, reluctantly becoming another cog in the wheel.
Lately, he’d been dealing mostly with bizarre star eclipses, barely talking to anyone outside work.
His assassination skills were rusty.
“If only there were more guys like you that could be ‘killed.’”
Mo Yu turned around coolly and walked away.
But everything wasn’t over. The moment he turned, a surge of danger hit him.
“d*mn!!”
His eyes widened as he adjusted his stance, muscles tensing.
Too late. A heavy blow hit his back, sending him flying like a missile.
Boom!
The headless butler stood immobile, extremely creepy.
Then, he picked up his head, putting it back on his shoulders perfectly intact.
Elsewhere…
“Cough, cough…”
Mo Yu struggled to rise from the ground, spitting out a mouthful of bl**d. He looked utterly defeated.
“What the hell is this?”
Mo Yu looked up at the butler, shocked. Through his blurry vision, he saw the strings controlling the butler and understood.
“Puppets… they can move without heads. After getting used to assassinating people, it was easy to forget they weren’t even human.”
If it were a puppet, there would be no fatal weak point unless he could destroy each limb completely. Even if he severed its limbs, it could still move.
This was a marionette—a few strings made it lethal.
“What the hell?” Mo Yu stared blankly.
He knew he might get pwned, but d*mn it happened fast.
The butler closed in, and the threat of d*ath loomed large.
Now, his insides were bleeding badly. If he hadn’t reacted quickly, his spine would be broken.
Though he could still use illusions, his combat ability took a significant hit.
Guards weren’t superheroes; they got injured and died often.
Mo Yu’s only choice was to retreat, at least until he could stand upright.
Just then, flames erupted on the butler’s body, engulfing him instantly.
Whoosh!
Mo Yu froze, turning to see the red-haired man approaching slowly, followed by a silver-haired loli.
“Eeek, you’re getting pummeled…” Night Star marveled, watching Mo Yu on the ground.
“Erm…” Mo Yu looked mortified.
He had showed off in front of this little loli, and now look at him. Talk about humiliation.
Night Star knelt next to Mo Yu and smiled. “Good thing I brought our big g*n here. Otherwise, you’d be doomed. No thanks needed—just paying you back for saving me earlier.”
“Aah, yes.” Mo Yu had lost his will to speak.
Next, Night Star approached the red-haired man, fascinated by the fireball.
“Is this your awesome fireball? So cool!”
“Well, kind of,” Chi Hao laughed lightly, not taking her seriously.
“Is he the senior?” Mo Yu focused on Chi Hao, gradually relaxing his guard.
This red-haired man was a Sunlight-level guard, akin to Yao Can’s level. Having him around made Mo Yu feel much safer.
Suddenly, the butler’s flames vanished, revealing an ordinary appearance.
He now matched his original size and had no signs of burning, except for the strings that controlled him.
Chi Hao turned away, walking to the wall. Fire flared on his palm, disappearing after a second.
When he removed his hand, an inconspicuous flame mark remained on the wall.
