Chapter 26 Waiting for Rabbits by Sticking to Trees
A few more days passed.
Night Star Lan still enjoyed the luxury of the extravagant villa on the side of Night Sky’s territory.
With many empty rooms around, she didn’t feel like she had to return to the theater just to spend the night.
Even though she felt a bit embarrassed about staying put, thanks to Night Sky and the others’ warm hospitality, she ended up settling down comfortably.
The members of the theater group visited and knew about their Audience Performer’s situation. They thanked Night Sky and everyone else politely and asked them to take care of her.
They continued searching for the whereabouts of the Group Leader, working diligently, as always.
After all, Star Eclipses needed no rest and even didn’t require sleep.
Most of the theater members weren’t exactly normal human beings anyway. Working overtime wouldn’t be a problem.
This made Night Star Lan feel somewhat guilty.
While other theater members were making their best efforts to locate the Group Leader, she was just lazing around here. Isn’t that a problem?
Now she felt like going out for a little luck herself.
“Mmm…”
Night Star sat on the living room sofa, with a white little kitten nestled on her lap. She looked just like a rice ball – soft and cuddly.
This was Dream Sound.
It hadn’t been long since Night Star started hanging around with the two sisters, but in just a few days, she managed to improve their impression of her—from strangers to friends—faster than any legend.
Her ability to charm Lolis certainly worked well.
Honesty was always the best policy to win over anyone.
Of course, this would’ve been impossible without Night Sky’s help.
If not for Night Sky vouching for her, Night Star probably wouldn’t have made it this far with Dream Sound and Meow Sound.
She had to admit, it wasn’t just the cat ears that made the cat girls so adorable; one could nearly imagine wanting to adopt one right there and then.
Though, of course, only with Night Sky’s and the Cat Maid’s consent.
But realistically, that was nothing but wishful thinking. It’d be back to using the Wish Princess for such desires.
Transforming a little loli temporarily into a cat maid just for kicks did sound appealing too.
Not just a cat maid, but even a big-tailed fox maiden—possibilities were endless.
Just the imagination alone was mind-boggling.
All these thoughts made Night Star’s hands tremble and twitch with excitement when handling Dream Sound’s tiny, soft body.
“Meow~”
A soft, slightly dissatisfied purr came from the cute kitten.
“Oh, sorry, I got a little carried away.”
Night Star gently stroked Dream Sound again, calming her down.
How wonderful it’d be if she could play with both kittens at once!
However, Meow Sound seemed to prefer sticking close to Night Sky.
Despite having brushed up enough good vibes and being able to interact with both sisters, only Dream Sound was content with sitting on her lap and being petted.
Not that Meow Sound disliked Night Star, but compared to her, Night Sky was clearly the favorite.
Were it not for the fact that the Night Sky often hogged up Meow Sound’s adoration, Dream Sound might not bother to hang around at all.
To get to pet Meow Sound, Night Star figured she’d have to reach through Night Sky’s thigh where the Meow Sound plushie resided.
Oh, how great it would be to have a beast-eared loli snuggling in bed every night.
Why not transform Night Lan into a beast-ear girl?
Adding more cuteness couldn’t hurt, right?
Just as Night Star was contemplating the possibility, Night Sky’s voice came from nearby.
“Night Star, according to our Guardian, the Group Leader is nearby. You want to go check it out?”
“Huh? Of course!”
Night Star gently placed Dream Sound back on the couch and quickly reached Night Sky’s side.
“Where? Where? I didn’t expect them to show up here!”
Although the Group Leader’s movement patterns were unpredictable, showing up anywhere at any time, Night Star never thought it’d happen so soon.
Was this really waiting for rabbits by sticking to trees?
That meant she couldn’t continue coasting any longer!
All the slacking off led up to this moment!
Night Sky handed Night Star the phone, which showed the location details along with a map.
The marked spot was where the Group Leader currently performed.
Night Star pondered momentarily and studied the location data meticulously.
Sure, the Wish Princess could easily send her near the Group Leader’s spot.
But facing an unknown situation, especially someone as unpredictable as the Group Leader, Night Star dared not waste a bit of her spiritual energy.
A precise teleportation spell was necessary.
But for precise execution, detailed spatial layout knowledge was required or else the spell could land anywhere unexpected.
And Night Star was unfamiliar with the surroundings—the path layout was a complete mystery.
She could, however, move based on the direction and distance shown on the map.
For instance, several kilometers North was the ideal spot to teleport to and make a landing directly above it.
The chances of error wouldn’t be too high.
“Night Sky, I’m heading out for a bit.”
“Have a safe trip~”
Night Star adjusted her position and the Group Leader’s location to form a straight direct line. After setting the general direction and distance, she vanished instantly.
Night Sky marveled.
“You know, space-type abilities feel almost overused, like everyone can instantly move now. That’d be so much fun if everyone could teleport anytime.”
Kaguya and company walked over, their faces lit up with interest.
“Night Sky, wanna come see the show? Staying indoors all day must be boring, right?”
“Well, Night Star Lan apparently said we shouldn’t interfere.”
“If that’s the case, who cares? Just watching won’t hurt.”
Night Sky stroked her chin thoughtfully.
“Yeah, you’re right. Let’s head over.”
Night Sky loved lying around the house, but too much lounging made her feel stiff.
Getting out occasionally was also refreshing.
…
Meanwhile, Night Star’s figure materialized overhead.
Using a teleportation spell, she landed smoothly nearby.
Although she might have missed the exact spot due to potential errors, the Group Leader was likely in the vicinity, performing.
Night Star closed her eyes, feeling out her surroundings until she picked up that distinct aura.
By the time she arrived on scene, many people had gathered, watching the Group Leader’s performance keenly.
“At last, I found you, Group Leader.”
Night Star stared at the tall silhouette standing on open ground, hesitating to disturb him.
“Wow… There’s definitely something different about the Group Leader lately…”
Night Star mumbled to herself.
Externally, everything seemed unchanged, but internally, things felt off.
The Group Leader gave her an uneasy vibe, his aura tainted with foreign elements, losing some of its purity.
She suspected Kuro was to blame, but upon closer inspection, she saw no signs of external control.
Was Kuro awake, or just partially awake?
Night Star wasn’t sure.
She’d have to wait until after the show to find out.
