Six Hundred and Thirty-Eighth Profile
In the northern outskirts of Tivyán, near the Royal Sacred Crown University and Green Shade Town.
The dark clouds still loom over Tivyán’s sky. In house number seventeen of Green Shade Town, Dorothy, dressed in light home attire, sits on the sofa in her living room, sipping a cup of hot coffee while reading a letter in her hand. This letter, like many others scattered on the coffee table before her, contains exchanges between Vania and Dorothy regarding the mysterious wolf-bl**d handover person they have been communicating with over the past few days.
“Mother’s milk… I’m glad to hear that the nun who prays in white is safe and sound. This finally allows my heart, which had been hanging for a long time, to rest. I sincerely do not wish to see the great believer of the Mother’s belief suffer any misfortune after the rare appearance of understanding…”
…
“You think my concern is a bit excessive? No, no, no, you don’t understand the nun who prays in white. I’ve seen too many truly devout people in the church who were cruelly treated because of their pursuit of the true meaning of the divine. And I can already see those people in you. I don’t want you to follow in their footsteps.
“The cruel fire punishment by the church is a persecution against enlightened individuals in theology, in my opinion, it hinders the progress of theology. Our cause is to seek the true meaning of the deity and use the divine will to influence the world. Yet there are some who desperately try to obstruct this, attempting to twist the true meaning of the divine. What we need to do is to let the true meaning of the divine return to this world…”
…
“Have you ever wondered what the true meaning of the divine is? Perhaps I can try to explain it to you. The Holy Mother resides in the heavens, loving all people. But in this world, only the Pope of Sacred Summit can hear the true words of the Holy Mother. Other believers, no matter how sincere and devout, cannot perceive even a trace of the Holy Mother’s true meaning. Doesn’t this seem a bit absurd? Why must the existence of the Holy Mother be explained by someone else?
“The Holy Mother loves all people, yet the Radiant Church continues to bring suffering and war to every corner of the world. Since its establishment nearly fourteen hundred years ago, how many countries have suffered annihilation due to their refusal to follow their beliefs? How many innocent people have been displaced, how many civilians have been brutally executed under the guise of being heretics? This is just a small glimpse of the Radiant Church’s brutal holy wars over a thousand years.
“Along with this letter, I am sending you a book titled ‘The Turbid Stream Secret History,’ which records the numerous crimes committed by the Radiant Church during the turbid stream war. Hundreds of thousands of people died directly under religious trials, millions were forced to flee into exile, turning Iwig into a hell on earth. White Praying Nun, I know you are a devout believer in the Holy Mother, and you have said that you worship the Holy Mother as your own mother. Then tell me, could any mother treat her children this way? Just because they do not believe in her, she uses the sword to slaughter them. The Radiant Church… no, the actions taken at Sacred Summit, do they truly live up to the name of the Holy Mother?”
…
“Yes, I think you have finally come to realize it. The messenger of God is not God himself. What authority does the Pope of Sacred Summit have to interpret the will of God alone? All divine oracles from the Radiant Church come from his mouth. Is it not too much love from the three saints above him? There are seven saints in the Radiant Church, and countless believers. Why should they favor him alone? He has launched so many wars, forcing countless innocent people to suffer and d*e. Could this really be the true will of the Holy Mother? I do not believe the Holy Mother would k*ll her own child just because they do not believe in Him.
“I am glad that you now agree that the teachings of the Holy Mother should not be interpreted solely by the Pope of Sacred Summit. We should find other ways to understand the true meaning of the Holy Mother. Correctly interpreting the true will of the deity is what we scholars of theology should do, rather than blindly following the doctrines written by others. Fortunately, I now know a method to speculate on the true meaning of the Holy Mother.
“As far as I know, there is a secret transmission in the forbidden library of the Tivyán church. That book interprets the Holy Mother from another perspective, perhaps it could be one of the key references for us to understand the true meaning of the Holy Mother…”
…
“You make a lot of sense, White Praying Nun. It would be difficult for you to enter the forbidden library alone. I won’t make things hard for you. Instead, how about this… I don’t ask you to directly sneak into the forbidden library and steal the secret transmission. You just need to provide a detailed route to the forbidden library. If possible, it would be best if you could draw us a map of the Church District in Tivyán…
“After you provide these details, we will take care of the rest. Dear White Praying Nun, after our long correspondence, I am eager to meet you in person… After everything is settled, if you wish, you can formally leave the church and join us. I will be honored to personally guide you through the experience of the crimson, immerse yourself in it, and ultimately savor it…
“Oh, and there’s one more thing. The condition of the former archbishop of your church, Francesco. Has he really been transported to Sacred Summit for treatment as rumored? Is the current head of St. Hymn Cathedral really just the legendary nun, Vania Chafiren? If it is indeed her, could you tell me what kind of person she is and what her abilities are?”
…
Sitting comfortably on the sofa, Dorothy looked seriously at the various letters placed on the table in front of her. These letters were all written by the person assigned by the Wolf bl**d Association to communicate with Vania. In just a few short days, Vania had already exchanged multiple letters with the other party, revealing their intentions clearly in these letters.
‘Indeed, if the Wolf bl**d Association is targeting the Tivyán church… then their goal is clear: the forbidden books in the St. Hymn Cathedral’s library, including the “True Crimson Holy Mother.”‘
Dorothy thought to herself, remembering that a year ago, the Wolf bl**d Association had corrupted the former head of the Historical Records Office, Koch, to infiltrate the library and steal the book titled “True Crimson Holy Mother.” However, their plan was thwarted when Dorothy intervened.
But they did not give up. The werewolf Smith, who was stationed in Tivyán, continued to think about obtaining the “True Crimson Holy Mother.” At the time, Dorothy used him to establish contact between the Wolf bl**d Association and Vania, enticing their corruption.
‘With the former archbishop Francesco of the Tivyán church gone, this is a golden opportunity for the Wolf bl**d Association. They wouldn’t miss it. So they have intensified their contact with the White Praying Nun, accelerating her corruption and making her serve their purposes. Now, they should be planning to obtain the “True Crimson Holy Mother,” requiring information from the White Praying Nun.
‘I wonder what the secret content of the “True Crimson Holy Mother” could be that makes the Wolf bl**d Association so eager to obtain it. The “True Crimson Holy Mother” seems very important to the Wolf bl**d Association, but the church appears to underestimate its value, treating it merely as a general forbidden book. If the church truly understood its value, they would have sent it directly to Sacred Summit for safekeeping… I wonder how the Tivyán church obtained this forbidden book…’
Dorothy pondered this, then shifted her focus to the Wolf bl**d Association.
‘The urgent task now is to understand the purpose of the Wolf bl**d Association. First, I need to find out who they are. It’s unrealistic to find them through the White Stone Craftsmen Guild. Luckily, I have a new ability to solve this problem.’
As she spoke, Dorothy refocused her attention on the stack of letters on the coffee table. Some of these letters contained recent communications between Vania and the Wolf bl**d Association, while others were from the past year of their exchanges.
‘Letters are also a form of communication, and communication is a medium. Using information as a medium, one can obtain information…’
Dorothy recalled all the letters exchanged between Vania and the members of the Wolf bl**d Association, deducing clues from the content.
‘In recent days, the replies from the Wolf bl**d Association to Vania have been quick. This indicates that the member who communicates with Vania can promptly see her letters and respond. Therefore, he must be in Tivyán, able to conveniently enter and exit the craft guild’s base to send and receive letters.
‘For some time, I have been closely monitoring the periphery of the Golden Contract Bank using zombies. I wanted to identify the Wolf bl**d Association contact based on the rhythm of the letters received in the White Praying Nun’s account. However, I did not succeed. On several occasions when letters were received in the White Praying Nun’s account, none of the people entering or exiting the Golden Contract Bank were repeated. Therefore, the contact must be sending letters through subordinates, and each time using a different subordinate.
‘I closely monitored everyone who visited the Golden Contract Bank on the day the letters were received, but none of them showed any connection with the Wolf bl**d Association. This suggests that the contact person might not be a subordinate at all, but rather a temporary hire, different each time. Hence, it is difficult to track him through this channel. He is a very cautious person.
‘In the initial letters exchanged with Vania, he was extremely courteous and restrained, with beautiful handwriting and precise word choice. He was very careful in describing sensitive content, avoiding direct hostility towards the church, subtly testing Vania’s stance, presenting himself as a gentleman rather than a “Cup” cultist.
‘In subsequent letters, as he confirmed that the White Praying Nun was increasingly corrupted, his writing became more open and direct, attacking the church openly and even revealing some characteristics of the “Cup” cult…’
Dorothy began summarizing the clues about the contact person from the Wolf bl**d Association, using some extraordinary power to extend the information beyond her mind, sensing that these clues eventually led to the depths of the inner realm.
Although Dorothy could not see the situation in the inner realm, she knew that these clues were automatically gathering related information within it. It was as if Dorothy had used the limited information gleaned from the letters as bait to fish for more information in the inner realm.
When these new pieces of information entered Dorothy’s mind, she immediately began organizing them.
‘This contact person from the Wolf bl**d Association is a male. On the surface, he appears calm and cautious. He acts as a polite gentleman in public, wearing a signature suit and trousers, a dark red tie, a top hat, and never leaving his cane behind. His steps are steady, and he deliberately cultivates a gentlemanly demeanor in front of secular people, lacking the natural ease of a true gentleman. His movements and expressions are slightly stiff, though he appears elegant and relaxed at first glance, closer observation reveals hidden restraint and gloom.
‘Beneath his gentlemanly exterior, he harbors a bloodthirsty madness. Internally, he is a standard “Cup” cultist, craving primal sensory stimulation. He lives secretly in Tivyán, likely under orders not to draw attention. Therefore, he usually restrains his desires, living an ordinary life as a citizen. However, when his desires become unbearable, he attempts to find limited ways to satisfy them.
‘Therefore… clues to him could be found in the secretive entertainment districts of Tivyán where he might commit violent acts due to his restrained brutality. Compared to releasing his desires, he craves fresh flesh, especially human flesh. Due to restrictions, he dares not hunt indiscriminately, so he often visits slaughterhouses to buy raw animal meat, but this does not fully satisfy him. In extreme cases, he steals newly dead or recently buried corpses from cemeteries and hospitals, leading to grave robbery incidents around his residence.
‘He lives in a high-end residential area, fitting his upper-class identity…’
Muttering to herself, Dorothy visualized the well-remembered map of Tivyán in her mind, analyzing each area for suitable locations.
Tivyán is vast, but there are very few places that meet all these criteria simultaneously. With Dorothy’s information processing skills, finding such a location would be easy.
