Chapter 33: What Now?
After bidding farewell to Night Sky, Night Star Lan brought Luo Xi back to the Rising Sun Theater.
They need to have a good discussion about the Group Leader.
Night Star began gently rubbing her face against Luo Xi’s thigh-highs.
Meanwhile, Night Lan came up from behind and cuddled Luo Xi, wrapping his arms around her neck. It looked very intimate.
If an unknowing bystander were to guess, they’d probably think Luo Xi was juggling two lovers all at once, a real ladies’ man.
But actually, this was just Night Star Lan’s unique way of being close to Luo Xi.
The best way to show affection is to have two of you clinging to your favorite person.
“Luo Xi…what do we do now? Although the Group Leader’s temporal powers have been erased, they transferred to another world beforehand. So where is he?”
Luo Xi stroked Night Star who was napping on her leg and replied quietly, “Kuro is in my original future timeline.”
“Ahh, lucky that I summoned you here to my timeline first, otherwise who knows what terrible things might’ve happened!”
Just thinking about how the Group Leader used temporal abilities in Luo Xi’s home timeline, Night Star Lan felt a bit unnerved.
If two origins were in the same time and space, there could be some really bad stuff.
Like maybe the curse takes over, completely messing up the Source of Stars power.
Then the Star Holders could lose control and become these rogue Star Eclipses or something gross.
Of course, that was just Step One of the disaster plan.
Having a full-blown origin go haywire isn’t as easy to clean up as it sounds.
Only Night Star Lan has a chance at solving it.
But getting the Wish Princess on par with the stars means pumping tons of mental energy, and ugh, that hurts to think about.
At this point Luo Xi spoke again:
“I can sense Kuro awaking. The dormant consciousness is starting to come back. The Group Leader’s willpower won’t stand a chance, he’ll be overwhelmed by Kuro.”
“Ahh?”
That wasn’t great news.
Originally Night Star Lan wanted to trick the conscious Group Leader into making a wish to split up Kuro.
Unbelievable that Kuro would actually wake up?
What’s next?
Did someone like Night Sky hit Kuro to snap him out of it?
Strange.
“So what do we do now? What will Kuro do when he wakes up?”
“Kuro will come straight for me.”
“Ji!”
Night Star Lan wasn’t surprised.
Kuro and White were known together as the Source of Stars. They’re naturally attracted to each other, which isn’t strange.
Night Star Lan suddenly frowned.
Luo Xi waking as the Origin of White didn’t want to find Kuro because she was worried about all the disasters that would happen from them reunifying.
So why does Kuro feel the urge to look for White right away upon waking?
Doesn’t he care about the chaos?
Luo Xi read Night Star Lan’s thoughts clearly and explained simply, “Kuro doesn’t care.”
He just doesn’t get it.
Since Kuro is a volatile Star Eclipse embodyment by nature, unlike White’s calm self, he’s highly emotional and easily influenced by negative forces.
They’re in different positions right now.
Kuro’s asleep, White’s weak.
To avoid tragedy, White left sleeping Kuro in Night Star Lan’s timeline while she traveled to the parallel future timeline.
As long as they’re never in the same world, there’ll be no resonance and therefore no disaster.
This was supposed to last until the end of time.
But Night Star Lan upset this balance somehow. She inexplicably felt drawn to find Origin of White.
Luo Xi had no choice but to interact, trying to talk her down.
Instead she set off Night Star Lan’s rebellious nature, who then wielded Kuro’s power to descend again.
And here we are.
Luo Xi shouldn’t have pretended to be a lover in the first place.
She got burned herself.
Night Star Lan still had no regrets, chaining Luo Xi forever was totally worth any trouble.
She was confident in her miracle-making, after all.
Though the Kuro issue is a bit serious.
Better play it safe.
While Night Star Lan pondered how to handle Awakened Kuro, Luo Xi spoke up again:
“Relax, I can tell Kuro lost control of temp space. Even if he wakes, there’s no way he can cross timelines anymore.”
Night Star Lan’s eyes lit up.
This must’ve been Night Sky’s doing.
Impressive, making Kuro permanently lose spatial control.
Gotta thank her later.
“So can we leave Kuro in the past timeline and have you stay here?”
“Theoretically, yes.”
The concept of spatial power is severed in Kuro permanently, including the Star Eclipse powers he wields. His fixed-temporal existence was broken, allowing for a potential swap.
“Yay~”
Night Star Lan squealed happily. No more worries of sending Kuro to the future.
But complications immediately arose.
What about the Group Leader?
Awakening Kuro?
Future Group Leader?
Future stability?
Night Star Lan didn’t think reawoken Kuro would behave like good girl Luo Xi.
One wrong move from him could spell chaos for the whole timeline.
Thankfully there was a fix—her own future self.
But delegating a problem caused by current-lane her to future-her seems sketchy, doesn’t it?
Night Star Lan never backs away from a tough job.
Nope, better solve this Kuro issue first.
Without this, Group Leader has no hope of returning.
If Night Star Lan hadn’t insisted on going to Luo Xi’s future, there’s no way Group Leader went through that risk to merge with Origin of Kuro.
Anyway, Night Star Lan’s bringing that chick back if it kills her.
Her eyes shimmered with determination.
“Luo Xi, I may have to ask for your help again to send me to Kuro’s timeline.”
“Alone?”
“Yeah, uh, alone.”
“Hmm, rest for a bit before heading over. Don’t rush.”
Luo Xi gently petted Night Star’s head soothingly, putting her completely at ease.
Night Star Lan soon felt drowsy.
“Are you sure? Wouldn’t it be safer to deal with Kuro once he’s fully recovered?”
“It’s fine. Kuro’s not evil, won’t cause problems. Just…unpredictable.”
Hearing this, Night Star Lan calmed down a little.
After wasting so much of her strength to make a wish, it made sense to give herself some recovery time.
“Okay, I’ll take a quick snooze. You make a good pillow.”
“Sure.”
