Chapter 4: A Bit of Cat Pie
Night Star Lan tried to greet the First-Generation Star Eclipses, looking extremely shy.
The First-Generations didn’t respond, merely staring at her quietly.
The atmosphere quickly became awkward.
Night Star Lan looked at the friendliest among them, Loti Shana, and noticed her gaze was also odd—like she wanted to say something but held back.
She was probably puzzled as to why Night Star Lan had come with Kuro.
Night Star Lan couldn’t explain and just awkwardly stood there, feeling out of place.
This gathering was really weird.
They were all basically big bosses, even a super big boss.
If the Night Watchers knew Yun Chang City had gathered five First-Gen Star Eclipses plus one Star Eclipse origin, they’d likely have a heart attack.
Either way, facing this scene made Night Star Lan feel a bit nervous, even though the Wish Princess was still awake—it didn’t make her feel much safer.
Wait.
The Wish Princess?
Night Star Lan suddenly had an idea and quickly called for the Wish Princess in her mind.
The next second,
Wish Princess appeared in front of Night Star Lan, with mixed black and white hair and red-to-blue eyes that made her look like a cold assassin.
Night Star and Night Lan stood behind her, embarrassed and asked, “Isn’t it true that gatherings should be better with more people? Is it okay if I invite someone?”
The First-Generations silently watched Night Star Lan’s embarrassing attempt to bolster her courage, unsure of what to say.
Just then, Kuro stepped out with a smile. “Of course, the more the merrier! I welcome you very much!”
Kuro didn’t mind Wish Princess’s appearance.
Or maybe he didn’t care.
If he thought someone posed a threat, he’d see them as his rival.
But if there was no rivalry, their strength was irrelevant to him.
Kuro was passionate about everything, showing high enthusiasm for people and things alike.
Wish Princess could be like Night Star Lan, and vice versa.
Even if Night Star Lan had summoned Wish Princess to be bold, it would still just mean having two loli girls.
Insignificant.
Kuro didn’t care.
“Let’s start the party! After learning so much about this era in such a short time, I realize it’s vastly different from previous times. It makes me realize how long I’ve been asleep! To celebrate my awakening, let’s all party hard!”
Kuro quickly learned the era’s basics and mastered modern tech, making the room buzz with lively music.
He poured drinks for everyone, seeming to enjoy himself.
Night Star and Night Lan sat close to Wish Princess, feeling out of place.
Having a party with some cute loli girls wasn’t too bad; she’d definitely act as a social butterfly.
But what were the others?
First-Gen Star Eclipses and the Origin of Kuro.
Even with Loti Shana, Night Star Lan couldn’t bring herself to bother them.
Hugging Wish Princess was much better—she felt somewhat safe and less stressed.
Soon, Night Star Lan whispered to Wish Princess.
“Nee nee nee, Wish Princess, do you think you could take down Kuro, using your current power and not pushing your limits?”
“Zero percent chance.”
Night Star Lan’s Star Eclipse powers came mostly from Kuro.
The Doll City, Existence Interference, Polite Devil, Conceptual Manipulations, Audience Etiquette, Life Blessing—all these would likely be useless against Kuro.
Only the Wish Machine seemed effective, but even that lacked the spirit-force to influence Kuro.
Thus, a super-duper ultimate Big Boss.
“Cursed!”
Clearly, using brute force was futile.
This was rough.
Night Star Lan was preoccupied, having no heart for the party.
Then Kuro walked over with a drink and placed it before her.
“The Observer, it’s unwise to bring troubles to joyous gatherings. Drop all burdens and fully enjoy yourself—this is the best choice.”
“Umm… Call me Night Star Lan. Saying ‘Observer’ sounds odd; I’m clearly not a Group Leader.”
“Do you want me to call you by name? Great! I sense your warmth; this is how friendships begin!”
Kuro sounded cheerful, leaving Night Star Lan speechless.
Where was the warmth?
She was only warm toward cute lilis. Others would never feel her warmth.
Night Star Lan thought Kuro had a bit of “cat pie.”
As expected from the origin of Star Eclipses.
“So, dear Night Star Lan, instead of sitting here, let’s enjoy this relaxed atmosphere. Look, they’re all chilling out.”
Night Star Lan glanced around—everyone sat on sofas, holding drinks from Kuro, smiling oddly.
She pondered—it didn’t seem lively enough for a gathering.
Normal parties were supposed to be boisterous.
The room buzzed only with music; the rest were too quiet.
These First-Gen guys weren’t types to joke around.
Or maybe their relationships weren’t ripe for that kind of fun.
Given their pride and individualism, mixing for fun wasn’t plausible.
Forcing them together under Kuro was cruel.
Night Star Lan thought they joined just to humor Kuro; otherwise, they’d bolt.
His enthusiasm was indeed clear.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t keep appearing before her with all his talk; it was pure goodwill—they didn’t know his motives.
Night Star Lan was indifferent, aiming to simply endure.
“Sure sure, you have fun; I’ll find others to chat with.”
Night Star Lan quickly took Wish Princess and moved near Loti Shana.
Shana and her were closest, cute and sassy.
When she approached, Shana stiffened, clearly nervous.
“Please… don’t tease me here… it’d be too embarrassing…”
Seeing Night Star Lan, Shana’s face flushed, her body trembling at the imagined teasing.
“Ah~”
Night Star Lan fell silent.
Why did it feel this… er… intimate?
