Chapter 7: Rescued
Time slowly dragged by.
Night Star Lan suddenly felt an intense hunger from her stomach and was once again lost in thought.
“Wait… I could handle no pain or pleasure; but hunger? I can’t believe even that is here. Am I going to starve to d*ath? No way.”
Enough was enough.
Even if she wouldn’t really d*e in this world, dying might just mean exiting to the real world.
But starving to d*ath? That was super embarrassing.
She definitely couldn’t let Kuro get a laugh out of this.
Night Star Lan mustered up some new energy.
Right now, there wasn’t anyone she could depend on nor any power she could use, only herself to rely on.
It’s just surviving in the wild.
Let’s do this!
As Night Star Lan was contemplating how to strive for survival, a voice echoed from behind her.
“Guess what I found? Two humans looking exactly the same—no, it’s actually one person sharing a soul. How interesting!”
“Ahhh!”
Night Star Lan jumped, barely holding back a scream.
Having her alone in an empty space suddenly disturbed was terrifying!
Wait.
Does this voice sound familiar?
She ran as fast as she could for a long distance.
Only then did she dare look back.
Standing not far away was a strange man with black hair and dark gray eyes. He was fit and looked very handsome.
Night Star Lan remained silent, unsure what to say.
If this were a game, meeting an NPC should lead to a dialogue box.
But, no dialogue popped up.
Fine.
She should have known this isn’t some immersive game.
Encountering key characters probably won’t trigger any dialogues or quests; she’d better just talk to him.
Isn’t that what time travel is all about?
Could this really be just Kuro’s memory world?
“Who are you?”
Night Star Lan cautiously asked, already having a premonition but not entirely sure.
The black-haired man examined her for a while before introducing himself.
“It’s not important who I am. I know we share a great destiny, which is pretty rare. It seems like you’re in trouble. Can I help? I love helping troubled humans; it’s my new hobby. You’re lucky!”
Recognizable warmth!
“Now, what should I call you?”
“You can call me Kuro.”
No surprise on Night Star Lan’s face.
Of course it’s Kuro!
The way he talked gave it away.
When Kuro took control of the director earlier, he used a different voice and spoke oddly, leaving a strong impression on her.
So this is Kuro’s true form.
Black hair, dark gray eyes, very handsomely proportioned.
No surprise here, considering Luo Xi is also very cute too.
If Kuro were ugly, they wouldn’t be equals as the Source of Stars.
Whatever, they’re always mentioned together.
Now it looks like this Kuro is the one from this timeline, not a newly awakened Kuro.
Seems like he found Night Star Lan lost in the forest, using his omnipotent powers accidentally.
His strange enthusiasm makes sense for coming over.
But Night Star Lan stayed wary.
Who knows if this Kuro was faking unfamiliarity to mess with her.
Of course, Kuro isn’t that type of person, making this unlikely.
But crucially…
Luo Xi has mind-reading abilities.
Given that, Kuro probably has it too.
Does that mean her thoughts are read constantly?
Terrible.
“Mmm…”
Pressure mounted.
Without any strength left, facing undefeated Kuro was a huge test.
She faced many big scenes, so she wasn’t too messed up.
Kuro still smiled warmly despite her silence.
“Anything on your mind? Ask me anything; I’d be delighted.”
“My questions are private.”
Night Star Lan probed.
“Private, really? I’m the first human whose mind I can’t read! Since I can’t understand you internally, I hope our communication can happen verbally. Your uniqueness interests me, so I’m happy to help.”
“Huh?”
Confusion filled Night Star Lan’s face.
Maybe Kuro can’t read minds after all?
No no no, that’s impossible.
Luo Xi could easily read minds, so why wouldn’t Kuro be able to?
Night Star Lan continued testing in her head while ranting.
[Kuro’s an idiot! Kuro’s a j*rk! Kuro’s the universe’s biggest twerp! If given the chance, I’ll hang you from the ceiling as a lightbulb!]
Yet no matter how angrily Night Star Lan railed internally, Kuro’s smile didn’t waver as if he genuinely couldn’t read her.
Is this a game player benefit—being unreadable?
Some lame newbie privilege?
Not entirely useless.
At least, she retained privacy.
Night Star breathed a sigh of relief.
Act like it’s true, at least it reduces stress.
She didn’t want to go mad from tension.
“I’m hungry…”
“Are you facing hunger? No problem. Come with me; I’ll show you the warm hospitality of Kuro!”
In the next second, dizziness struck.
When Night Star Lan regained her senses, surroundings had changed.
This place felt like a paradise, an unreal fantasy.
Is this where Kuro lives?
Not among humans?
It seems Kuro and Bai didn’t interact much with human society.
Kuro vanished again before reappearing with a petite white-haired girl.
Seeing the pale-haired, light-gray-eyed three-lacks loli by Kuro’s side, turmoil ensued!
It’s Luo Xi!
The Source of White!
Kuro was conversing energetically with Bai.
“Look who I found—a special guest, absolutely intriguing. Let’s welcome her together and keep a high level of passion, like me!”
“Don’t just pick things up randomly.”
