Chapter 9: Strategy
Night Star Lan seriously doubted that Luo Xi had agreed.
In fact, Kuro might not have even told Luo Xi.
This was entirely Kuro’s solo decision.
Is that even okay?
Night Star Lan hesitated for a moment but couldn’t help but ask.
“Did you really ask Hilo about this?”
“Of course not!”
Kuro admitted honestly.
“I’ve entertained quite a few lost humans before who wanted to stay here for a while, but once Hilo saw through their inner thoughts, she quickly wiped their memories and threw them out. Even if someone doesn’t want to leave, she’ll wipe their memory before they go out.”
“Uh… so is it really okay for you to decide that I stay here without consulting anyone?”
Just thinking about the possibility of being thrown out by Luo Xi made Night Star Lan a bit anxious.
She definitely didn’t want to experience being discarded by Luo Xi.
That would be terrifying!
However, Kuro’s next comment quickly put her at ease.
“Don’t worry. My decision is Hilo’s decision, and Hilo’s decision is also my decision. She’s thrown out the humans I’ve entertained with my consent, and bringing humans here is also with her consent. Our wills are basically aligned.”
“Hmm… Is that how it is?”
Night Star Lan gradually started to understand.
Kuro and Hilo, together known as the Origin of the Stars, might just be a terrifying power split into two parts, wielding the powers of Star Eclipses and Stars, with differing personalities but fundamentally unified will.
But perhaps an event later caused a complete divergence in their will.
At least that wasn’t the case now.
Maybe when Kuro decided to let Night Star Lan stay, Luo Xi already knew.
So did that mean Luo Xi was fine with her staying?
Night Star Lan suddenly felt a surge of happiness.
But of course, she couldn’t get too carried away.
If she messed up in the meantime, she might just end up being thrown out by Luo Xi herself.
That would be a huge blow for Night Star Lan.
She would definitely cry!
So she absolutely had to avoid doing anything that would annoy Luo Xi.
Night Star Lan secretly made up her mind.
Kuro seemed to guess her thoughts and casually said, “Are you worried about being expelled? I don’t think it’s necessary. Your enthusiasm is the most unique among the humans I’ve entertained! Since you’ve seen our incredible powers and remained unfazed, you must have remarkable adaptability! We have the ability to read human thoughts, but we can’t read yours. You’re the first in that regard!”
Night Star Lan hesitated.
Could she say she already knew that?
It seems her rookie benefit was that her mind couldn’t be read.
How nice~
Of course, losing the Wish Princess and other powers was pretty annoying.
But since it was a single-player game, what did it matter if she summoned wind spirits and shadowy figures?
She really didn’t like that so-called sense of challenge.
Too weak leads to being wiped out all the time.
Kuro continued explaining why she shouldn’t worry.
“Even though I can’t read your mind, I can tell you’re very honest. Your enthusiasm for Hilo amazes me. Go on; touch Hilo! Let her feel your passion, and she might change. As long as you maintain a pure intention, she won’t reject you!”
“Hmm~ I see.”
Night Star Lan nodded thoughtfully, starting to get the picture.
Barring any surprises, she was likely entering the main storyline.
As long as she stayed close to Luo Xi and Kuro, she could follow the plot and witness one story after another.
And next up, Luo Xi was her target to woo!
Well, there’s her support!
Even if she turned into a defenseless little loli, with Luo Xi by her side, she’d be scared of nothing!
She might as well stay here and ride the coattails of the game until it ended.
But of course, the biggest issue remained how to get Luo Xi to accept her.
If Luo Xi didn’t accept her, then even the enthusiastic Kuro would tacitly allow her to be thrown out.
What Kuro said about keeping a pure intention—does that mean she should wholeheartedly pursue Luo Xi?
Just expressing her feelings shouldn’t be considered a bad intention, right?
Seeing that Night Star Lan seemed to have come to a realization, Kuro flashed her an encouraging look.
“Go for it! I hope your enthusiasm can be even hotter than mine; it’s up to you to change Hilo!”
“Leave it to me! My enthusiasm for Hilo is unmatched; I’ll be even more passionate about her than you!”
Night Star Lan started to compete with Kuro.
“Ah~ I can feel it! This purity of passion! Keeping you here was definitely the right decision!”
Just reiterating.
Kuro’s enthusiasm aura is indeed quite strange.
After spending some time together, one could easily get influenced.
Kuro walked over and patted Night Star Lan on the shoulder. “So, it’s up to you and Hilo now.”
“Where are you going?”
“Naturally, I’m going out to observe human society! There’s so much out there for me to learn! It’s a pity that Hilo doesn’t like to go out.”
“Hmm~ I see.”
So it turns out Kuro often went out to explore the world, while Luo Xi preferred to stay cooped up here.
Totally opposite.
Does this mean that Kuro getting out often provides opportunities for a little one-on-one time with Luo Xi?
So cool!
Night Star Lan began to look forward to that kind of life.
Even though she and Luo Xi weren’t close enough for casual cuddles yet, she could slowly woo her; they’d be super tight in no time!
“Then hurry up and get going, Kuro! Safe travels!”
“Your thoughts remain as honest as ever! If your enthusiasm for me were half of what you have for Hilo, I’d be overjoyed!”
“But didn’t you say enthusiasm for Hilo is the same as enthusiasm for you?”
Night Star Lan casually deflected, defeating magic with magic.
Kuro chuckled softly.
“Hope you successfully earn Hilo’s approval.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Kuro quickly vanished from the spot, probably off to cause more mischief.
Night Star Lan finally relaxed and began to carefully observe her surroundings.
“Hmm… So beautiful! Feels like something straight out of a Peach Blossom Spring…”
She couldn’t shake the feeling that the place Kuro and Luo Xi lived was not a real location in the world.
It must have been created as an independent space with powerful forces, much like how Mo Rabbit had created the Rising Sun Theater.
The scenery was breathtaking—definitely a fairy-tale realm.
If someone accidentally stumbled in and saw Kuro and Luo Xi, they might mistake them for reclusive immortals.
Of course, they could indeed be considered immortals.
“Guess I’ll just wander around…”
Night Star Lan set off, starting to explore this fairy-like place, breathing in the rich natural atmosphere.
Though compared to real nature, it felt a bit lacking in liveliness.
No bird songs, no traces of other animals—just beautiful natural views.
If she stayed here too long, she might find it terribly boring.
At least that’s how it felt to Night Star Lan.
After walking for a while, she began looking for traces of Luo Xi, hoping to have a deeper conversation with her.
“Where could she be?”
Kuro and Luo Xi came and went like shadows, their mode of movement basically teleportation-like, probably something like “Blink.”
If she called out for Luo Xi, would she appear right in front of her?
Night Star Lan suddenly had the urge to give it a try.
