Chapter 20: Greed
Kuro waved goodbye to Charlize and turned his attention back to Night Star Lan.
“Night Star Lan, my friend, do you really not need any powerful abilities?”
“I already said, no need to provoke me.”
Night Star Lan continued to cling tightly to Luo Xi, looking extra cozy.
“I only need her.”
“Hmmm… I must say, you are the greediest human I’ve ever met.”
Kuro crouched down in front of Night Star Lan to have a better look at her.
“If you had other demands, as a guest, I’d certainly meet them with enthusiasm, but you only want Hilo? Now that’s just plain greedy.”
“Umm…”
Kuro quickly changed the subject.
“But! Since Hilo agrees, then I have nothing to say. Her will is my will, and your enthusiasm can influence Hilo? Now that’s something I never thought about. From today on, Hilo is all yours!”
“Yay~”
Night Star Lan cheered excitedly.
But Luo Xi didn’t seem to be in the mood to play around with these two.
“I am not hers, but she is mine. Get that straight.”
“Huh?”
Night Star Lan had a quizzical look.
Kuro burst out laughing.
“Hahaha~ Now, that’s quite a difference! So from today on, Night Star Lan is Hilo’s property. Have fun, you two!”
With that, Kuro turned to Luo Xi.
“I’m going out again. Maybe I’ll bring back a new human to gain more power. Only by doing this can we speed up our integration into this world. See you! I’ll be back before you know it!”
As soon as he said that, Kuro vanished.
And just like that, Night Star Lan and Luo Xi were left in their little bubble.
Once it was just the two of them, Night Star Lan snuggled up against Luo Xi’s face.
“Luo Xi~ How about we take our cuddling to the next level? A kiss isn’t cutting it anymore! We need to be even closer~ Only then can our bond grow stronger, right?”
“Not happening.”
Luo Xi rejected her decisively.
She was no longer as easily coaxed as before.
Ever since that surprise attack from Night Star Lan, Luo Xi had been on a quest to read up on matters of love. She even used Star power to replicate some special books from the outside world, just to widen her knowledge.
With her newfound understanding of chastity, she wasn’t about to let the cutesy little human have her way that easily.
It felt way too risky.
She was the origin of the stars. Being toppled by a weak human? No thanks.
If anyone was coming on to anyone, it would be her making the first move. Night Star Lan wouldn’t just up and steal the initiative!
Once she gathered enough knowledge and prepared herself, she would definitely “teach” this ever-so-bulky human cub a lesson.
Night Star Lan had no idea what Luo Xi was thinking and made a sad face after being turned down.
“But it’s so boring~! If I continue this extremely laid-back lifestyle with Luo Xi, I might as well become a grandma! I need more youthful excitement! Cuddling sounds like a fantastic option!”
Luo Xi just stared at her with a completely emotionless expression, the pressure thick in the air.
How could she not see through Night Star Lan’s attempts to fool her?
Two weeks of being led around by Night Star Lan? That would be an insult to her identity as the origin of the stars.
This tiny human dared to show off in front of her?
Luo Xi was not about to indulge her.
“Umm…”
Seeing that she couldn’t charm Luo Xi any longer, Night Star Lan gave up.
“Well, if I can’t cuddle, let’s find something to pass the time! Luo Xi, I want to see what Charlize has been up to since he gained his powers. Can you pull up the footage for me?”
“Mhm.”
Even though she wouldn’t pamper Night Star Lan, this was a request she’d still fulfill.
In the next second, Luo Xi waved her hand.
A screen appeared in front of Night Star Lan, displaying Charlize from a divine perspective.
Night Star Lan cuddled up next to Luo Xi, munching on the fruit that Luo Xi conjured earlier while watching Charlize, looking for a way to k*ll time.
I wonder what Charlize would think if he knew he was being watched?
Even with all his sophistication, he probably wouldn’t be able to hold it together, right?
Would we get to see his embarrassing moments?
That would be a riot.
No cuddling? Just fun and games instead.
That’s Night Star Lan’s way of surviving!
Thanks to the real-time screen created by Luo Xi, Night Star Lan soon figured out Charlize’s current situation.
He was in a Western country, still living under a complete noble system.
No wonder he acted so elegantly; he came from a noble family!
No wonder his behavior was so refined; he must’ve been born into privilege.
Night Star Lan continued watching but didn’t encounter anything explosive.
Charlize just locked himself in his room after returning, seemingly familiarizing himself with the powers he’d just acquired.
This development seemed really dull.

Since nothing thrilling was happening, Night Star Lan had zero interest in peeping into his life.

“Luo Xi~ Turn it off, but do record it. When I get bored, watching it all at once would certainly be more fun.”

Luo Xi nodded and casually turned off the recently initiated screen.
As for the time that followed, Night Star Lan was eager to snuggle up again.
“Luo Xi! Let’s roll in the sheets!”
“Declined.”
Another day of joy had come to an end.

Night Star Lan still hadn’t managed to win over Luo Xi and was being played like a fiddle.

The scene opened in another strange environment.
According to the divine perspective provided by Luo Xi, this place appeared to be a dream world formed by the sleeping dreams of nearby humans.
At this time of night, many were sleeping and dreaming.
Charlize wandered through the dream, using the fantasy power of dreams to do all sorts of things, trying out many fun ideas and having the time of his life.
It seems that even a highly sophisticated gentleman has a hidden side to him, right?
Night Star Lan fast-forwarded, eager to uncover Charlize’s true objectives.
Surely, he was up to some mischief.
