### Chapter 21: The Second One
Night Star Lan was as confused as a cat trying to walk on a tightrope with a fish in its mouth. No matter how much she tried to watch from an all-seeing perspective, she still couldn’t make heads or tails of Charlie’s social life.
It was like watching a movie and skipping right to a random scene. You get more questions than answers. “Who’s this guy? Who’s he related to, and why does he look so puzzled? Friend, foe, or something else?”
Even with a week’s worth of recordings, Night Star Lan could only scratch the surface and waste time.
While the specifics were beyond her, she could still guess the gist.
Charlie basically used his newfound power to grab every enemy family by the short hairs, using all available intel to bully and bribe them into submission, turning the local enemies into dust. He did all this in just one week, making him emperor of the underground.
If only he were a bit bolder, he might have revolutionized the whole country.
But instead, he preferred the dream world to reality.
Mostly, he spent his time napping, nearly turning his dreamworld into another planet.
If it weren’t for his human body requiring sustenance, who knows what crazy stuff he’d do.
“Uh, diving straight into dreams right after getting powers and wanting to escape reality? That’s weak.”
Night Star Lan rolled her eyes.
Even when she got the Wish Machine, things didn’t get that twisted.
Of course, she understood this too. Most folks would just indulge their desires.
Being a hero for humanity was a lie; not everyone had a heart full of justice, ready to take on responsibilities that weren’t theirs.
Charlie was at least better than some. Once everything was handled, he’d sink back into his dreams without causing trouble for others.
Exploring dreams was his jam.
Though if someone who craved reality so badly controlled that power, disaster might ensue in no time.
Not Night Star Lan’s problem.
She wanted to know when Charlie would create the adorable Little Loli, Dream Pursuer Yin, in the dream world.
Then she could use Luo Xi’s “partner” identity to swoop in and hug the little loli to her heart’s content!
Considering how much Charlie respected Luo Xi and Kuro, he wouldn’t likely say no.
Playing the fox borrowing the tiger’s might suited her just fine.
“What’re you thinking about?”
Luo Xi asked.
“Well… I’m wondering when Charlie will start creating sentient beings in the dream world.”
Night Star Lan replied honestly.
Luo Xi shrugged off any weird motives.
“For humans to wield stronger powers, they need to reach a new ceiling. To achieve true omnipotence in dreams would take a long time. Even in dreams, creating life requires at least a century.”
“A really long time! Probably won’t happen even by d*ath.”
Luo Xi shook his head.
“That’s ages for ordinary humans, but with me and Kuro’s lifespan, a century is nothing. We’re practically immortal.”
“d*mn, living that long sounds tempting. The bigwigs hearing that might go nuts looking for us.”
This was way more tempting than any elixir of immortality.
With the greatest blessing of the Star Origin, not only could one live forever, but also gain immense power, ensuring they’d never be dragged off for experiments.
If word got out to the long-life seekers, they’d go bananas.
Even though both Luo Xi and Kuro could squash such nuisances, the constant disturbances would annoy anyone.
So yeah, deleting and kicking out the humans each time made sense.
Quite considerate indeed.
Night Star Lan sighed lightly.
Looks like Dream Pursuer Yin wasn’t coming anytime soon.
The little loli may have been created only after Charlie became the star narrator of the Eclipse Dreamscape.
At this rate, that seemed probable.
Luo Xi suddenly spoke up:
“Do you want eternal life?”
“Hmm, me? It doesn’t matter. I’m focused on the present. I enjoy spending time with you now and won’t tire of it. If you don’t get sick of me by then, help me cheat d*ath!”
Though that day might never come…
This world was just a virtual echo of the past.
Once Night Star Lan watched it play out, she’d leave.
Silent, Luo Xi nodded, accepting her.
…
Another week passed. Kuro returned, bringing with him a man, this time claiming to be a shady merchant whose real name was stolen.
“Let me introduce you. This guy, I rescued from a merchant. Complex family factors left him nameless.”
Night Star Lan figured out his story quickly.
He was once a slave, destined for a different master. But Kuro noticed his spirit and brought him back.
Too tragic for words.
Kuro then introduced Night Star Lan and Hilo to the young man. Procedure identical to Charlie’s.
“So, state your wish. Fate singled you out. Your future is about to change dramatically. Name it, and I’ll make it so!”
“I want a name.”
The youth replied calmly.
“Hmm, Hilo and I aren’t good at naming. So, I’ll give you a name. Which one do you prefer—Hilo or Kuro?”
Night Star Lan gasped. Kuro had actually given away a true name freely.
Turned out, Hilo’s name came cheap.
The youth pondered, “Hilo.”
“Perfect! Henceforth, your name is Hilo! Congratulations! With this name, life will be amazing!”
Kuro declared, ignoring Luo Xi’s opinion. She didn’t protest, indifferent.
Odd way of doing business.
Hilo bowed in thanks.
“Thank you for the name. In exchange, I pledge my loyalty.”
Kuro patted Hilo’s shoulder, smiling.
“That’s just the start! Receive fate’s gift. Do you want to be the greatest merchant?”
“For you, anything.”
“Not for me, for you. You hold hidden talent for trading.”
“Fair enough.”
Hence, Hilo got his name and power.
