Chapter 44: A Reminder
Charlize recognized Night Star’s face after he took a good look at her.
As the witness when he accepted the power of the stars, Night Star Lan had made quite an impression.
Charlize wouldn’t easily forget someone like her.
Rather than asking how Night Star got here, he cut straight to the chase.
“Miss Night Star, what brings you to me?”
“Just call me Night Star,” she replied casually, “The great Source of White asked me to tell you something: after mastering the power of dreams, you need to learn how to create life and souls.”
With the name Luo Xi backing her up, Night Star boldly lied without batting an eyelash.
This was just so much simpler.
Otherwise, she would have to concoct a whole string of complicated explanations.
“White… is that referring to Lord Hilo?”
Charlize’s intuition kicked in, connecting the dots that Night Star’s “White” was indeed the Hilo who had once granted him his powers.
Night Star nodded in understanding.
Charlize was the first human to accept powers, so he was in the dark about what had transpired since then.
“Um… well, due to some reasons, ‘Hilo’ is no longer ‘Hilo,’ so now it’s ‘White.'”
Night Star didn’t exactly clarify things.
“I understand. What instructions does Lord White have?”
Charlize maintained an air of respectful curiosity and didn’t press too hard, though he took Night Star’s message very seriously.
After all, he spent quite a bit of time in the dream world, experiencing mind-boggling events and initially mastering powers that could influence the whole world.
Disregarding the origins of that power would be downright foolish.
He was well aware that, even if he was invincible among humans, he couldn’t last a second against Kuro and White.
Of course, he had no intentions of picking a fight with them.
Night Star began to gather her thoughts, considering how to persuade Charlize.
“Um… you see, White has been monitoring your progress, hoping that you can use this power to create dream entities with wisdom and souls. You can focus on that from now on.”
She had once asked Luo Xi how long it would take for Charlize to create dream life, and the answer was quite daunting—years, maybe even decades.
But that included the time it took for Charlize to even think about it.
Only when he realizes he could create dream entities to accompany him in his dreaming adventures might he actually attempt it.
But creating life wasn’t an easy feat, let alone crafting intelligent beings with souls.
Souls seemed to be incredibly complex, not just something you could whip up whenever you felt like it.
In dreams, you could conjure anything using imagination, but souls weren’t so easily fabricated.
If he took shortcuts, he might end up with a lifeless wooden puppet.
Night Star understood the gravity of this.
After all, it was about bringing the adorable Dream Pursuer Yin to life.
With the dual focus on speed and quality, she needed to remind Charlize wisely.
If she prompted him now to sprint towards this goal, perhaps he could finish the “creating dream life” project in no time.
“Dream life? Like humans?”
“Um, yeah! What ideas do you have? Or can you create life right now?”
Charlize pondered for a moment.
He hadn’t even considered this aspect—his thoughts were solely on exploring the dream world, invading everyone’s dreams, and peeking into the true nature of humanity.
But what happened after the cracks of exposure?
Letting it slide like yesterday’s news?
That didn’t seem right; perhaps he could summarize everything he observed during this process.
Finding joy while achieving a sense of accomplishment was a double whammy.
Only then would the fun multiply.
Creating life seemed like a tantalizing taboo subject.
One must have goals to achieve a more exciting life, right?
Suddenly, a light bulb went off in Charlize’s head.
Night Star’s reminder hit home, revealing a new goal for him.
Previously, he used the powers he acquired to tackle all real-life problems.
Now, he could use the power of dreams to create astonishing artificial life.
Now, that was an intriguing target!
Continuously invading other people’s dreams became a bit monotonous.
“I get it now! Thanks for the reminder. I’ll shift my focus to my new goal.”
“Um, that’s the spirit!”
Night Star felt a wave of relief as Charlize woke up to his realization.
Hopefully, she’d see the adorable Dream Pursuer Yin before heading back!
Otherwise, that would be quite a bummer.
In case he forgot, Night Star made a special reminder.
“By the way, Charlize, when creating dream life, be sure to model it after the super cute White! It must also be a petite and adorable girl. I’ve even thought of a name—Dream Pursuer Yin! Be serious, really serious about your research. No slacking off now!”
Charlize suddenly began to question a certain matter.
This didn’t sound like Lord White’s instruction; it felt more like Night Star’s own desires bubbling to the surface.
Something felt a bit off.
But truth be told, he couldn’t deny how crucial Night Star’s reminder was.
Imagining anything could create all sorts of material in dreams, but crafting a complex soul was a different ballgame altogether.
That was the new breakthrough point.
If Night Star wanted a dream life, why not create one and gift it to her?
Consider it a thank-you present for enlightening him.
“I got it! I’ll remember everything you said.”
“Um um! Let’s leave it at that then.”
Night Star nodded in satisfaction.
She bid farewell to Charlize and had Luo Xi whisk her back.
In the blink of an eye, Night Star was back on Luo Xi’s lap, lounging comfortably.
Loti Shana stared at her with a puzzled expression, looking as though she had something to say but couldn’t quite form the words—probably still shocked by Night Star’s earlier comments.
While Night Star had gone over, Night Lan stayed put, watching the scene unfold with a dual perspective and knowing full well that her and Charlize’s conversation could be overheard by Luo Xi and Loti Shana.
Night Lan quickly maneuvered over to Loti Shana’s side and plopped down on her lap, claiming her own knee pillow service.
“Um, Loti Shana, do you have something to say?”
“Ugh… I don’t know what to say…”
Loti Shana recalled Night Star’s words to Charlize and suddenly felt her emotions swirling.
She never expected Night Star not only to have her and Lord White but also to want to engage with other girls.
That was one thing.
Night Star’s idea of finding her ‘girl’ wasn’t even normal humans but rather some taboo life created with mysterious powers!
Such a concept was downright terrifying.
It felt like something beyond the times.
The kicker was, Charlize hadn’t created anything yet; how did Night Star know he’d succeed?
What if he ended up creating a monstrous abomination instead?
Just a big ol’ question mark filling her head.
Just then, Night Lan’s voice floated up from below.
“Are you jealous, perhaps?”
“Me? No way! Just found your thought process really strange.”
“Um, I get it; you find it very forward-thinking, right? After all, why seek out ready-made girls when you can lust after ones that haven’t been created yet? It has a strangely offbeat vibe.”
“Ugh… do you really think that Charlize can pull it off?”
“For sure! After all, I know the story’s script~”
With that, Night Lan flashed a mysterious and adorable smile.
