Chapter 7: It’s So d*mn Annoying When People Flirt!
The first indoor performance by the Rising Sun Theater Group wrapped up smoothly. All of the Night Watchers in attendance gave glowing reviews and looked forward to the next show.
Next weekend, ordinary folks would be allowed inside the theater to watch the performances. The Night Watchers merely needed to promote via social media on the website set up for the Rising Sun Theater Group. Many supporters were sure to flock over when that happened.
Of course, the next performance would be held in a new city. Anyone else who wanted to attend would have to make their way there too.
After the weekend passed…
Night Sky and her good friend began exploring the world’s delights on their own, no longer needing the disinterested tour guide, Night Star Lan.
They were practically from this world, but had only been to a few cities; might as well let them wander about themselves.
Night Star Lan didn’t care either.
She was also too lazy to gallivant around with Night Sky and company.
Instead, why not hang out at home with Night Sky, lay around like corpses watching anime shows?
Night Sky herself wanted to binge-watch some good anime in the comfort of home too.
But Kaguya and the others had the wiggles and wanted to check out the entertainment district and such, so they dragged Night Sky along.
Guess it’ll be another time for us to enjoy shows together then.
Unbeknownst to Night Sky…
After staying in the theater, Night Star finally received Kong Yu Bai’s date invitation.
“Concert attendee, it’s time for our date. Are you ready?”
Night Star looked at the hand Kong Yu Bai had extended, quickly grabbing it.
“I’m ready, very excited for this date.”
Night Star wasn’t aware of what Kong Yu Bai was up to lately, but was looking forward to everything the latter had in store for her, yet feeling a bit nervous too.
Unlike little loli Lianhua, Kong Yu Bai was more mature, giving off a “big sister” vibe, being one of the rare girls close to Night Star Lan.
With a date partner better built than herself, Night Star always felt somewhat tense.
Perhaps it was the pressure from girly confidence?
Why did Night Star have to be a loli-lover?
Kong Yu Bai smiled and led Night Star away from the Rising Sun Theater.
“Come on, we’re going somewhere.”
“Where?”
“You’ll see ~”
Kong Yu Bai teased cryptically.
Night Star was curious, guessing wildly where they would go next.
No matter how much she mulled it over, she couldn’t fathom where they were headed.
Even using the Wish Princess to intervene secretly would ruin the mystery and excitement.
Hard not to be disappointed when a girl prepared an elaborate date just for you.
A little while later…
Kong Yu Bai brought Night Star aboard an already-prepared hover car, told the driver to head to a location.
By the time they reached their destination, Night Star recalled relevant memories.
“The Songstress Association?”
Night Star tilted her head curiously.
In her previous memories, she had visited here with Kong Yu Bai’s story in tow.
Then-accompanying was Qing Liao, who hadn’t yet become a world songstress.
Night Star came here to register as a songstress to reappear in people’s memories in place of Blank Songstress.
That moment was also key in saving Kong Yu Bai from the brink.
It was pretty nostalgic reflecting on those times.
So then…
What could Kong Yu Bai have in mind for bringing her here?
Night Star didn’t ask.
Kong Yu Bai didn’t say anything, leading her straight into the association.
Before long, a staff member greeted them, seemingly a reserved appointment.
Night Sky pondered, following curiously behind Kong Yu Bai until stopping before the reception room door.
“Go in.”
“Okay.”
The two entered the reception area, encountering familiar faces.
“Hi~ Long time no see~ Night Star and Senior Kong Yu Bai.”
Cleary happy, the current world songstress Qing Liao raised her face in a joyful smile, glad to see both she admired again.
Seeing Qing Liao, Night Star was surprised.
“Oh hey, Qing Liao, why are you here?”
“Because Senior Kong Yu Bai got in touch saying you guys wanted to meet, so I rushed straight back.”
Still awed by former senior world songstress Kong Yu Bai, Qing Liao would drop everything just because it was suggested they should meet.
Night Sky was bewildered.
“Is this really alright? Haven’t you heard you’re going to hold a concert soon?”
“No problems postponing, concerts can wait. Nothing beats catching up, after all!”
Being such a favored world songstress, Qing Liao had significant freedoms, so even if she skipped a few concerts, no one would blame her.
Who could replace a world songstress anyway?
Reassured, Night Sky felt better knowing Qing Liao had that carefree attitude.
Back then, upon first meeting her, she seemed haughty, a personality hard to trust.
Now seemed like it was all good.
Qing Liao looked at Kong Yu Bai, asking curiously:
“Senior Kong Yu Bai, what brings me back?”
Upon hearing that, Night Sky nearly facepalmed.
No way officer?
Did you not bother asking what the meet-up was about beforehand?
This was such a spontaneous comeback.
Hurry up and apologize to your fans who you made wait!
Kong Yu Bai chuckled.
“Just wanted you to sing onstage with us and do an impromptu concert.”
Qing Liao lit up.
“How exciting! Last time singing together was memorable, hadn’t expected a second so soon.”
Back during the concert in Free Country, Qing Liao had taken part in the performing troupe as an undercover member, still relishing that fond memory.
To her, singing together with Kong Yu Bai and Night Star was more fun than a series of concerts alone.
Night Star and Kong Yu Bai were genuine world songstresses!
Kong Yu Bai elaborated,
“Yeah. But isn’t today special? Our date.”
“Huh?”
Qing Liao was utterly puzzled, completely stunned.
Looking between Kong Yu Bai and Night Star, her brain took a timeout.
Night Star blushed, embarrassed, coughing to hide it.
“Cough… You probably thought the same… It’s not a misunderstanding.”
“So cruel…”
Qing Liao’s gaze turned reproachful, having been sparkling moments ago suddenly turning dark.
“Does Senior Kong Yu Bai mean to feed me dog food now?”
Reflecting on life:
Qing Liao had dedicated her youth to her career—
Never imagined getting involved with romance.
Only ever dreamed of Kong Yu Bai and Night Star—
Now, the ones she admired started dating?
What a nightmare!
Thinking to herself, it felt like being kicked in a dream,
Flaunting romance was so d*mn annoying!
One day, she’d write a breakup song to properly scold the culprits!
Still, Qing Liao was genuinely thrilled they became a couple,
“Congratulations—youngest idols together is heartwarming.”
