Seven Hundred and Eighth Chapter – Nature
After uncovering the hidden secrets of Busairite history and jurisprudence, Dorothy began to spend time studying the patterns within in greater depth.
Dorothy started testing the falsified history of Busairite in various ways to summarize its nature and rules.
Firstly, Dorothy could confirm that the only method currently available to create and enter a false history world was by continuing the already extinct Busairite dynasty through the revision of pseudo-histories. As long as a dynasty’s history was revised to align with the timeline of real history, those who came into contact with the pseudo-historical documents would be able to enter the corresponding false history world.
During the process of revising pseudo-histories, “Enlightenment” spirit was consumed. The longer the pseudo-history, the more spirit was consumed. However, overall, the consumption rate was not very high.
Dorothy believed that the enormous false history world could not be constructed from just the little bit of spirit she provided; instead, the main force behind the construction of the false history world should be the divine power that lingered within Busairite. Dorothy felt that her contribution was merely guiding this divine power.
After revising the pseudo-history of the Santo Dynasty, Dorothy attempted to revise the pseudo-histories of some previous dynasties. Upon reaching the current timeline, she similarly entered the corresponding false history world. In other words, Dorothy could create different false history worlds by revising the histories of different dynasties.
These false history worlds followed the basic settings given by Dorothy and were generated after automatically filling in large amounts of detail. In theory, Dorothy could use the divine power to create all kinds of false history worlds with different histories and settings, but these settings weren’t arbitrary.
The false history worlds created by Dorothy had to conform to the basic laws of historical development and the fundamental situation of Busairite. Unrealistic or overly extraordinary false history worlds wouldn’t generate.
For example, when setting up a dynasty, Dorothy wrote an extremely exaggerated development history for that dynasty, stating that within 150 years of stable development, talents emerged, and technological revolutions occurred frequently. Eventually, a major scientific breakthrough and significant productivity growth happened. By 1361, this civilization had developed into one with advanced technology, capable of flying out of the planet and establishing colonies in space using faster-than-light ships.
From a historical development perspective, no civilization could leap from tribal alliance stages to interstellar colonization within just over a hundred years. Therefore, such a false history world didn’t exist, and Dorothy couldn’t create it. When the history reached 1361, nothing happened at all.
Apart from this setting, Dorothy tried many others to try and make the created false history worlds deviate from historical development laws. For instance, setting up a mysterious virus outbreak in Busairite at a certain point, infecting the entire civilization and turning everyone into mutants with extraordinary abilities, leading to the establishment of a new civilization. Or setting up an alien visitation, teaching advanced knowledge to the indigenous people of Busairite, enabling them to achieve a technological leap. Or directly setting up a dynasty that excavated ancient dwarf civilization ruins, obtaining their advanced technology and equipment. Or having a dynasty fully believe in the Radiant Church, with the Sacred Summit sending an archbishop with a lot of scriptures to take charge…
These settings were Dorothy’s attempts to use deus ex machina methods to try and make the false history worlds deviate from historical development laws, but they all failed. Through continuous attempts, Dorothy also grasped other principles of creating false history worlds. The developing dynasties in the revised pseudo-histories had to adhere to historical laws, and the scope of interference and resources used during development were limited to Busairite territory.
Dorothy couldn’t let the dynasties in the false history worlds mine minerals that didn’t exist in real history. She couldn’t bring forces from outside Busairite to intervene on a large scale. All the false history dynasties Dorothy could create were relatively closed.
Dorothy could establish multiple false history worlds simultaneously, but each false history world had to originate from a short-lived dynasty that had already perished in real history. Dorothy couldn’t create a false history dynasty out of thin air. Each short-lived dynasty in real history could create one false history world, although there couldn’t be too many. Dorothy could arbitrarily recharge or modify a false history world by simply changing the corresponding pseudo-historical documents.
Dorothy couldn’t bring anything from the false history worlds back to real history, but she could leave things from real history in the false history worlds. Previously, Dorothy deliberately left a zombie puppet in the false history world and then returned, rewriting the history of 1361 again before returning to the false history world of the Santo Dynasty, where she found the zombie puppet still there, though it had decayed into just a skeleton.
Through several tests, Dorothy understood the reason. When Dorothy erased a year record from the pseudo-historical documents corresponding to a false history world, the corresponding year would disappear, but the items from the real world left in that year wouldn’t vanish; they would be pushed upward or downward into other recorded times in the false history world. If there were no downward years, they would only move upward.
Previously, Dorothy left a zombie puppet in the Santo false history world in 1361. After erasing the 1361 record and returning, Dorothy’s zombie puppet was sent to the previous year record she had written for the Santo false history, 1357. Then, after writing the 1361 record again, Dorothy found the skeletal remains at the spot where she had discarded the zombie puppet. This was because the zombie puppet had experienced four complete years in the false history world. It returned to 1357 after the disappearance of the 1361 year and waited for four years until Dorothy came back to complete the 1361 record, which was enough time for the zombie puppet to turn into bones due to the loss of spiritual threads.
Apart from these attempts, Dorothy roughly figured out why things from real history weren’t noticed in the false history world. It was because things from real history were seen as outsiders by the people in the false history world. To make the people in the false history world notice the presence of visitors from real history, they needed to be given a specific identity in the pseudo-historical documents, one that fit the setting. Then, people from real history could interact with the people in the false history world by playing that role.
While conducting similar experiments and trials, Dorothy directly fabricated a Busairite outsider merchant daughter’s identity for herself and gave her zombie puppet a merchant father’s identity. Dorothy and her zombie puppet successfully operated in the false history world of the Santo Dynasty, engaging in dialogue, exchange, buying and selling, and accommodation.
After spending days, Dorothy finally grasped some properties of the false history world. Now, she needed to think about how to utilize these properties to find Heoperis.
“If the divine power of Busairite can make a dynasty that should have perished in real history reappear in the false history world, then perhaps the first human dynasty of the First Dynasty could also reappear using this method. If I’m not mistaken, Heoperis, the core region of the First Dynasty, is located within Busairite, but it has vanished over thousands of years.”
“Now, what I need to do is like fabricating pseudo-histories for those short-lived dynasties of the Fourth Era. I need to compile a pseudo-history for the First Dynasty so that it can span across a thousand years and synchronize with the present time. In that way, I can see Heoperis in the false history world and learn about the information related to ascending to Golden status. After all, while I can’t bring things out, I can certainly gather information…”
At the oasis outside Bastis, by the clear lake, Dorothy sat there, looking at the dilapidated Bastis city walls in the distance while thinking to herself. At this moment, she had almost understood the meaning of “Heoperis exists only in history” and felt a hint of curiosity about Shadi.
“I didn’t expect Shadi’s intelligence to be so accurate. I wonder where he got such secrets… The old man from the Treasure Theft Society seemed less credible.”
Dorothy pondered in her mind. Shadi claimed his information came from an elderly member of the Treasure Theft Society. From the beginning, Dorothy didn’t quite believe him. Now, after understanding the level of secrecy involved, she trusted him even less.
“Shadi is supported by some mysterious force, which isn’t a secret. It seems that the force behind him has a profound connection with the First Dynasty. I need to actively reach out to them… No, if I can successfully find Heoperis this time, they might come looking for me without me having to approach them…”
Sitting on the grass, Dorothy thought about it and then turned her thoughts back to how to find Heoperis.
“To make Heoperis reappear in the false history world, I need to fabricate a pseudo-history for the First Dynasty. But the problem is… this pseudo-history isn’t entirely made up. The latter part can be completely fabricated, but the beginning must be based on real history.
“The branches of the pseudo-history must grow from the trunk of real history. Otherwise, it’s just meaningless, rootless wood. I can’t purely fabricate the pseudo-history of the First Dynasty out of thin air; I need at least some basis in real history…”
With a slight frown, Dorothy thought to herself. All the dynasties’ pseudo-histories she had previously revised were based on existing historical records to deduce the true history and then continued from there. Dorothy had already tried and found that purely fabricated pseudo-histories without a basis in real history couldn’t create false history worlds.
Therefore, if Dorothy wanted to create a false history world of the First Dynasty, she had to understand the real history of the First Dynasty to some extent, although not too much. A general outline was necessary. Only by using parts of the real history of the First Dynasty as a starting point could Dorothy’s pseudo-history story continue.
Moreover, unlike those short-lived dynasties of the Fourth Era, the First Dynasty was born and perished in the Second Era, which was thousands of years ago. Dorothy had to write thousands of years of pseudo-history when fabricating the pseudo-history, and the spiritual consumption would be immense, even with more “Enlightenment.”
“Now, I need to understand the real history of the First Dynasty. This is going to be difficult. Where can I find information about the First Dynasty? There are almost no historical records left…”
With a serious expression, Dorothy thought to herself. Just then, a loud voice interrupted her thoughts from afar.
“Distribution of food!
“In the name of the Lord, don’t crowd! Form lines, don’t panic or rush. Everyone will get their share! Anyone who tries to snatch will be thrown out immediately, and won’t get any!”
Hearing this voice, Dorothy looked toward the distance and saw numerous ragged, listless Busairite locals densely gathering on the other side of the grassy area. Under the organization of a dozen or so envoys in isolation suits, they lined up and orderly received pieces of bread from a small cart, forming a clear relief scene.
The number of Busairite locals waiting to receive bread was substantial, numbering in the hundreds or even thousands, with the line stretching far out of sight. Most of them appeared weak and lethargic, likely suffering from the Plague.
“Speaking of which, there are really a lot of refugees gathered here… Within just a few days, there are so many. It seems that most places in Busairite aren’t controlled by the Eternal Life Cult. There are still so many people seeking help from Vania…”
Observing the scene, Dorothy thought to herself. During her focused research on the false history world, the situation on Vania’s side had been continuously changing.
Although the Eternal Life Cult controlled Bastis, they seemed to have not controlled the surrounding tribes and villages. After Vania’s team arrived in Bastis, the tribes who learned of the news hurriedly brought their families, taking advantage of the fact that their illnesses hadn’t worsened, to seek relief and medical treatment in Bastis.
The Plague had severely damaged Busairite’s already fragile productive capacity and trade capabilities. Many tribes successively fell into food crises, with people dying of hunger before succumbing to illness. Countless people came to Bastis to seek Vania’s aid.
Within a few short days, Bastis was already filled with people. Vania, who had been at a loss on how to deal with the inability to enter Bastis, immediately began directing the envoy team to provide relief to the arriving refugees. Her actions gave many refugees hope.
“Vania’s relief resources finally have a place to be used… That’s good. But… those Eternal Life Cult members haven’t shown any reaction. That’s odd…”
Dorothy thought to herself, then looked once more at the Bastis city walls. The Eternal Life Cult believers inside Bastis hadn’t stopped the refugees who surged in over the past few days. They merely watched from afar on the city walls, leaving Dorothy somewhat puzzled. Weren’t they trying to prevent Vania from increasing her influence here? Why didn’t they obstruct this process?
Dorothy’s small zombie puppet had been monitoring the Eternal Life Cult within Bastis for several days, but hadn’t detected any unusual activities. Even so, Dorothy couldn’t relax.
At this moment, the eagle zombie puppets she controlled, which had been circling in the sky, were keeping watch around Bastis. From the perspective of the zombie puppets, Dorothy saw several groups of refugees struggling across the desert toward Bastis, clearly seeking relief.
“More have come today… This keeps accumulating. It’s almost reaching three thousand people… Vania has only been in Bastis for a short while. How did news about her spread so widely in the nearly paralyzed communication network of Busairite…”
