Chapter 91

### Chapter 91: It’s Great to Have a Car

Shortly after Wang Wenjuan left, Xia Ling returned with a dry white towel wrapped around her damp long hair because, well, getting one’s long hair wet while taking a bath is just inevitable, isn’t it?

Noticing Xia Yu, who was quietly sitting on the princess bed staring at her, Xia Ling’s interest was piqued. Instead of drying her hair right away, she giggled and sat next to Xia Yu, hugging her arm in a childish manner. “Second Brother, could you help me dry my hair? You helped me with yours earlier!”

Seeing the way Xia Ling was, Xia Yu couldn’t stop thinking about all the times Xia Ling had taken care of her. So, she nodded, agreeing to help.

“Yay~”

Delighted like a kid getting candy, Xia Ling handed Xia Yu the hair dryer and prepared to enjoy the service. Good thing the cord was long enough; otherwise, Xia Yu would have had to move positions. But as luck would have it, she didn’t need to.

Amidst the roar of the hair dryer, Xia Yu spent her day…

The next morning, before the sun had even risen, Xia Ling was awakened by her biological clock. Checking the clock on her desk, she saw that it was pointing to exactly six o’clock.

Yawning and stretching, she thought to herself, “Oh no, it’s Monday again. Back to school… so irritating~.”

Glancing over at Xia Yu, who was still sleeping soundly beside her, Xia Ling felt a pang of envy. She figured Xia Yu probably still felt sick from whatever happened over the weekend and was staying home.

However, as Xia Ling tried to sneak out of bed quietly to leave space for Xia Yu to keep sleeping, she heard Xia Yu groaning as she got up.

Yep, due to the room lighting, Xia Yu finally succumbed and got up.

Upon waking up, Xia Yu quickly realized that today was school day too, and she couldn’t laze around anymore.

Xia Yu slowly sat up in bed and then started getting dressed and ready for school. Seeing this, Xia Ling was quite surprised and asked involuntarily, “Second Brother, you’re going to school too? Shouldn’t you rest more?”

Shaking her head, Xia Yu silently declined, unsure why she didn’t want to talk much. Plus, Xia Yu noticed her voice was becoming more feminine, which made her wary of others noticing her physical changes.

Thus, she decided silence was the safest route, glad that her family understood her situation.

After Xia Ling tied Xia Yu’s hair into a high ponytail, they headed to the bathroom to get ready together. As they were making their way downstairs, Xia Hong, Wang Wenjuan, and Xia Le finally woke up.

Seeing Xia Yu and Xia Ling, Wang Wenjuan smiled and said, “Little Yu, Little Ling, Little Le, do you want breakfast? I’ll make it for you and later your dad will drive you to school. No rush.”

Sure enough, because of what had happened to Xia Yu, Xiao Hong and Wang Wenjuan were personally meeting with Xia Yu’s teacher. Otherwise, they wouldn’t feel at ease.

Since they had a private car now, Xia Ling and Xia Le weren’t anxious anymore. Xia Yu didn’t seem bothered either, considering she was already running late anyway.

To be honest, Xia Yu felt quite calm, though she wasn’t sure why—calm but a bit eerie.

After a leisurely breakfast, the family headed to school. Because they lived in the countryside, the birds chirping was a given.

Xia Le fought to take the passenger seat, figuring it’d be rather prestigious, especially since not many villagers owned cars. At least he could brag to his brothers that their dad had one.

Little did everyone know, the rapid improvement in their family’s living standards was largely thanks to Xia Yu. Had it not been for those unexpected incidents…

Entering the campus, the security guard didn’t stop them, given it wasn’t peak hours and letting this wealthy parent drive in seemed quite proper.

Indeed, those driving small cars these days were pretty much all well-off.

As soon as Xia Hong parked their new car near the elementary school building, the kids’ excitement was palpable. Curious students wondered whose parents were there. Must be wealthy families.

Then came Xia Le, Xia Ling, and Xia Yu. Unlike Xia Yu’s lack of expression, Xia Le and Xia Ling glowed with pride. It was hard not to be happy when so many classmates envied them.

In the office, teachers were arriving, and motorcycles parked outside doubled as their rides.

Without hesitation, Xia Hong led the way to the office, looking the part of a successful man in his neat attire.

His kids, naturally wanting to follow, were stopped by him: “Go to your classrooms. There’s nothing for you here.”

Including Xia Yu, the kids had no choice but to part ways with Xia Hong.

Earlier, Wang Wenjuan had stressed to Xia Ling multiple times to take good care of Xia Yu, treating her like a sister whenever and wherever possible to ensure no more mishaps occurred.

Xia Ling naturally agreed. Even if Wenjuan hadn’t mentioned it, Xia Ling would still take good care of Xia Yu anyway; after all, she felt like an older sibling with the knowledge and academic edge.
