Chapter 92

Chapter 92: Happy Mother’s Day 2021

Maybe because of that incident with jumping off somewhere, Xia Yu’s presence naturally caught the attention of more elementary school kids.

Thus, even more kids were passing on the message to each other and gathered to watch the show. Even those who didn’t know who Xia Yu was now knew her.

After all, who doesn’t love a good gossip?

It was breakfast time at school, so there weren’t too many students in the classroom, say, around ten or so.

Xia Yu and Xia Ling calmly entered the class. They glanced at their classmates, whose eyes were filled with surprise, then Xia Yu thought about returning to her usual seat at the back to space out.

She had no friends anyway.

Thinking of friends, Xia Yu unconsciously remembered someone—the Jiang Kekai, the Jiang Kekai who shoved food down her throat uninvitedly.

Yet, thinking of her identity, Xia Yu couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. Jiang Kekai was an actual young lady from a rich family; she had better not dream too much. It might have just been due to Jiang Kekai’s interest back then, right?

Perhaps in some time, Jiang Kekai will forget about her, a mere passer-by in her life.

But as Xia Yu planned to go to her old spot, Xia Ling grabbed her arm: “Second Brother, your seat isn’t there anymore. It’s here, next to me now.”

Upon hearing this, Xia Yu’s little brow furrowed slightly, indicating her reluctance. She liked her old seat just fine, undisturbed by anyone.

But now, Xia Ling’s desk was in the second row, third table. That meant Xia Yu would be sitting there from now on.

This desk was a central position, though. Although she knew the teacher intended to give her extra care, Xia Yu really didn’t want to draw that much attention.

Particularly given her mental issues, Xia Yu especially wanted to avoid interaction, let alone conversations.

Now that the arrangements were made, what could Xia Yu do? She wasn’t one for causing trouble.

So, Xia Yu’s seat moved to the front—now, there were no single desks in the back, only sets of three desks, all occupied by girls.

Without a social circle, Xia Yu’s new spot meant no friends to talk to. She’d rather have just looked out the window when seated at the back.

As for Xia Ling, she had plenty of girl pals. Whether they were in front or behind her, Xia Yu decided to take a nap instead of disturbing her sister and her girl friends.

She only meant to rest briefly, yet surprisingly, Xia Yu actually fell asleep.

Until warm hands touched her forehead, bringing her back to consciousness. She realized it was her mother, Wang Wenjuan, checking her temperature.

Moreover, Xia Yu saw her father Xia Hong in the room. They must have finished talking with the teachers.

Wang Wenjuan was surprised by Xia Yu’s sudden awakening. Soon she gently asked, “Little Yu, feeling dizzy? Should we go home?”

The elementary school kids envied the kids hearing this from inside the classroom. They’d definitely choose to go home if they were in Xia Yu’s shoes.

But Xia Yu wasn’t like them. She honestly replied, “I’m not dizzy. I just wanted to take a nap.”

Seeing this, Wang Wenjuan didn’t press further. Instead, she took out two five-dollar bills from her purse—one for Xia Yu, one for Xia Ling.

And before leaving, she reminded Xia Ling, “Remember to take care of Xia Yu, okay?”

“Got it,” Xia Ling cheerfully responded.

But hearing these words, Xia Yu felt somewhat resentful. Did saying “let her sister take care of her” mean she was useless? Still, being introverted, she didn’t argue.

With her parents back home, Xia Yu’s school life resumed. She wasn’t sure whether it was for the better or worse.

The first lesson was math, and upon remembering this, Xia Yu couldn’t help but think of Mr. Zhang Chao, her math teacher. He wouldn’t still be gunning for her, right? If he was petty, well, that just was how it was.

To everyone’s surprise, a woman entered the classroom with the math textbook, looking around thirty-five years old. Xia Yu wondered where Mr. Zhang Chao had gone.

Seemingly understanding Xia Yu’s confusion, Xia Ling whispered during class: “Little sister, that teacher you hated has been moved to teach another grade. So no need to worry, I’m here for you.”

Indeed, the school was severely short-staffed. Mr. Zhang Chao even doubled as both a math and PE teacher. Thus, he received some punishment but not termination.

After all, everyone understood the struggle, and Xia Yu seemed fine.

“Mm-hmm,” Xia Yu softly nodded.

Seeing Xia Yu ignoring her calling her “little sister” thing, Xia Ling felt equally pleased. She hoped Xia Yu would get used to this soon, securing her place as the big sister.

Naturally, with Xia Yu and Xia Ling in the front, and being twins so beautiful, they couldn’t help but attract the teacher’s attention.

Thus, while Xia Ling whispered, the female math teacher noticed. However, she kept silent. First, because Xia Yu was under special watch. Secondly, she was afraid, worried Xia Yu might do something rash again if she spoke up.

So the math teacher turned a blind eye. Fortunately, Xia Yu and Xia Ling weren’t disruptive; they just chatted quietly for a bit.

Having missed a lot of classes, Xia Yu understandably didn’t understand the current lesson. Gradually, she started daydreaming, reflecting on recent events.
