Upon hearing Lin Zhongyu’s inquiry, Mu Jixue first froze, a complex mix of emotions suddenly washing over her.
“I don’t know who that person is.”
The words nearly left her mouth before she could stop them, but her ingrained honesty prevented her from lying about it.

Thankfully, the Little Healer from the Immortal Alliance appeared and did a quick check-up on Lin Zhongyu, informing her that she was recovering well. This brought some relief to Mu Jixue.
“That’s great, no lasting side effects. You can leave anytime you want,” the Little Healer said with a smile, explaining where Lin Zhongyu was in the meantime.
Lin Zhongyu was shocked. No wonder she recovered so fast; these medicines were top-notch.
But wait, how did she get that? As someone of her status, she shouldn’t have access to the Immortal Alliance’s treatment. She quickly deduced it must be because of Yun Zhonghe.
After the check-up, the Little Healer told her it wasn’t a rush to leave right away.
In Cangzhou City, the Alliance members were generally seen as haughty, not this approachable. The Female Manager was proof enough, if slightly extreme.
The Little Healer was merely polite because she knew the patient was brought in by the Big Boss.
Clearly, only Cloud Family could make the Alliance show respect like this.
Once the Little Healer left, the room fell silent again.
Mu Jixue observed Lin Zhongyu quietly, knowing she had guessed most of the story by now.
There was no way out of it.
“Don’t worry, they said I’m completely fine.”
Lin Zhongyu saw the distressed look on Mu Jixue’s face and playfully pinched her cheek. “No need to feel bad, everything’s set.”
But Mu Jixue was not worried about that.
She rubbed her cheek and looked up, uncertainly. “Zhongyu, the person who helped you is that young master from the Cloud Family. He got the Big Boss of the Immortal Alliance to step in. The Female Manager and those who ambushed you are both kicked out.”
Lin Zhongyu was shocked. She knew Yun Zhonghe helped her before, but helping her this much… nobody had ever done so before.

She felt such urgency but couldn’t find the words. Finally, she blurted out, “Are you really into that Cloud Family young master?”
“I can’t help but think we owe him,” Lin Zhongyu replied seriously.
“Alright…”
“Snow, you’re acting strange today. Something happened?”
Lin Zhongyu sensed something off in Mu Jixue’s behavior.
“Nothing serious. We should head back home now, staying at the Alliance for too long isn’t proper.”
Though Lin Zhongyu suspected something was up, it made sense to leave. They packed up and planned to return.
Meanwhile, Mu Jixue was heartbroken.

Back outside, unseen eyes followed their departure.
“Ah, I missed my chance with Huang Aotian. Feels like she’s hostile towards me.”
Yun Zhonghe stood by a window, watching the protagonists go.
He had considered dropping by to meet Huang Aotian but decided against it.
Because of the lack of opportunity, he sighed once more.
“Master, could your target be that Mu Jixue?”
At that moment, Tao Jiu’er appeared silently, resting her chin on his shoulder.
Her sudden appearance startled him, almost causing a heart attack.
“What’s with the jumpiness?” she asked crossly.
“N-nothing! You just surprised me, that’s all.”
“Hmpf.”
Tao Jiu’er then leaned beside the window, pondering.
“Mu Jixue, Lin Family’s newest talent, truly a beauty. Never seen such grace in a woman. Her parents might even accept her.”
She glanced sneakily at Yun Zhonghe, trying to gauge his reaction.
But Yun Zhonghe was visibly shaken, goosebumps appearing.
“Jiu-er, that’s not necessary. I have no interest.”
“Huh?” She paused, “So, you’ve been eyeing women for a while?”
As Cloud Family members didn’t break their primal essence casually, his mother kept a tight leash on his romantic prospects.
However, if she were his wife, it wouldn’t matter.
“You don’t find her beautiful?”
“She’s good-looking, sure.”
“If you don’t like her, what type do you like then?”
Hesitantly, she started playing with her hair as if avoiding his gaze.
“Huang Aotian does have that effect on everyone…”
