#### Writing 1.2 Million Words, and You Could Draw Gold from a Moon Ticket!
This book is expected to wrap up sometime in June.
Taking this opportunity, let’s have some brotherly updates!
First up, let’s talk about Sensei’s biggest bragging point!
As of March 31st, Sensei successfully nailed the challenge of only pushing through eleven times in March. The difficulty was immense, the hardship was real, and we all know she’s got a heart of steel and a spirit that’s as tough as nails.
Enough said! Everyone knows the value of her work.
Next, let’s talk about the novel itself:
Currently, this book clocks in at 1.2 million words, averaging at around 7,500 steady readings a month. It reached second place on the light novel bestseller list last month, hitting 21K high subscriptions.
In terms of performance, it’s neither too hot nor too cold.
Everyone knows how tough it is to write with a single main female character, and keeping it short isn’t easy. But Sensei insisted on pursuing “pure love” to the end, adding no romantic side characters for the male protagonist—not even a clear-cut “second female lead.”
Other romance novels might add a sidekick girl or a backstory for other supporting characters to stretch the plot further.
But our book? Nope!
True pure love all the way.
Even the subplot between Xu Yong and Su Ran, which many brothers expressed interest in, Sensei barely delved into it, just glancing over it lightly. Instead of effortlessly writing another 100k words, she kept the focus on just the two leads.
For me, telling their story was enough.
But, this comes at a cost: the story isn’t long, and the results may already be peaking.
Think about it:
Trying to make the romantic storyline interesting is incredibly challenging. After all, you’ve got only 1.2 million words dedicated purely to these two, which can get pretty boring.
Sensei has put her heart into it, and everyone can feel the sincerity. She’s truly trying to stay true to the book’s initial theme – love and music.
These challenges aren’t new to Sensei; I mean, these are things I’m chasing after myself.
The one thing that really gets to Sensei is this book didn’t hit the 10K monthly subscription mark. At this length, it’s tough to climb that ladder.
It’s kind of a bummer, but realistically, given our niche audience, 7.5K steady reads were about what we could hope for.
As the storyline approaches the finale, Sensei is working hard to smooth everything out, ensuring everything lands gracefully.
Due to focusing so much on the two main characters, Sensei realized that our side characters have been a bit neglected…
She recognized it, but it was too late.
Before moving on to her next project, she did try to patch up some parts.
For example, with the opponents like Bai Xi, Nanaly, Bai Junze, Mao Weian, etc., Sensei recently expanded their parts.
I hope they’re not just there briefly, but have their own stories and lives too.
Like the story of Bai Junzai, Voices of Echo, actually stems from a tale Sensei wrote in her student days during a screenwriting class.
It’s about a guitarist chasing his dreams in the big city.
Originally, it was much longer, but Sensei simplified it and gave it a fresh twist before including it the novel.
To me, this also wraps up an old unfinished story from years back.
She did all this just so you could get more insight into each dream-chaser without derailing the main plot.
Now, some readers might wonder why she spent a whole chapter on a classical vs. pop concert jam session.
Fitting it between the semi-finals and finals of the Dragon Zither Cup seemed jarring, plus Tian Lin and Gan Yanyu’s performances barely stood out—no real thrills, no dramatics.
Not the most exciting section, really.
But this is exactly what I wanted to show you—the opponents aren’t just hurdles on Tian Lin and Gan Yanyu’s musical journey. They each have their own stories and dreams.
Their passion for music remains the same, even if their journeys differ slightly.
Though, patching up the side characters might have come too late. This book has plenty of spots where Sensei regrets not doing a better job.
But, sometimes, finishing trumps perfection.
Errors will have to be sorted out in the next book.
Tian Lin and Gan Yanyu’s story must go on.
Thanks to everyone who supported this imperfect novel all the way to the end.
In any case,
Over the final two months, Sensei will strive to land this plot smoothly; there might be a couple of last-minute twists, but trust me, a satisfying conclusion is coming up!
At this 1.2 million word milestone, Sensei is ready to give it one more shot!
What if, just maybe, this little book surprises us one more time?
So, in this new month, I’m aiming for the top spot once again.
This time, I need your help.
Even if the last effort fades without realizing this dream, Sensei will accept it.
If it works out well, that’ll fuel the drive for extended post-marriage chapters for those two.
So, please support me here!
To show my gratitude, Sensei has some small gifts planned. They may not be much, but they’re a thank-you for the support!
