Chapter 438

Chapter 442: Senior Brother Mei

Excessive补充 (nourishment) isn’t advisable. Last night, Yun Zhonghe got a special boost, and if he gets another round today, it might just backfire on his body.

Yun Zhonghe’s robe had already met its end during the grand competition.

The one he’s wearing now was painstakingly stitched by Tao Jiu’er herself, a pristine white robe with a jade belt cinching his waist.

“Let’s go, Young Master~”

With that, Tao Jiu’er wheeled Yun Zhonghe to the cafeteria first and then over to the medical staff’s quarters.

For some reason, the medical staff’s area was packed. Even a routine checkup required some serious queuing.

It could be due to the aftermath of the grand tournament. While the secret realm could save participants from dying, it couldn’t quite handle those who got banged up like Yun Zhonghe.

The disciples of the Xuantian Sect are tough cookies, which means the injured count is rather high.

Under the guidance of the medical staff, Yun Zhonghe was temporarily assigned to a two-person ward while they wrapped up with the more critical cases before giving him a checkup.

In the ward, there lay another brother, wrapped head to toe in bandages, even his head was dressed like a mummy.

Just his black hair and eyes peeked out, looking like he’d seen better days than Yun Zhonghe.

Another casualty from the tournament?

Yun Zhonghe and Tao Jiu’er gave a casual greeting. Since they were waiting for their checkup, it looked like they’d be chatting with this brother for a bit.

That brother said, “I recognize you! You’re the Yun Zhonghe, right? You really stole the show in this tournament!”

Yun Zhonghe chuckled, clueless about what the bro was all excited about; the term “tournament” he understood, as he was allegedly knocked out and lost his memory there.

Yun Zhonghe was now somewhat of a celebrity in the Xuantian Sect, so it was no surprise this brother was enthused to chat.

After some banter, they got to know each other a bit.

Yun Zhonghe learned that this fellow’s surname was Mei.

“You can call me Senior Brother Mei! The name doesn’t really matter,” he declared.

Not even going to say what his name is, huh? Either he’s shy or hiding some secret?

Yun Zhonghe pondered.

But calling him Senior Brother was spot on; Tao Jiu’er whispered to him that this guy was dressed in the robes of an Inner Gate Disciple, while Yun Zhonghe was still just an Outer Gate Disciple.

Since he was an Inner Gate Disciple, he must be strong, right?

Currently, Yun Zhonghe couldn’t gauge strength at all. He just felt a bit of respect based on the rank.

Probably bored out of his mind in this ward, Senior Brother Mei kept the conversation rolling.

At that moment, there was a knock on the ward door.

Could it be Yun Zhonghe’s turn for a checkup?

But Senior Brother Mei, with his leg propped up, said, “That’s not the physician. Physici do knock like that; it’s probably a visitor.”

Having been laid up for a few days, Mei had cracked some codes.

With a smug grin, he continued, “You just wait and see, bro; it’s definitely for me! Ah, the charisma of this Senior Brother is just too much!”

As he finished, he called out, “Come in!”

The figure outside paused for a moment, then pushed the door open.

A shadow clad in fiery red stepped into the light.

Tao Jiu’er and Senior Brother Mei were frozen in shock.

It was actually Master Li!

The partner of Sect Leader Qin Wushuang and the mother of Qin Hongye!

But outside of the sect, she was the leader of the Cangzhou City branch of the Immortal Alliance; within the Xuantian Sect, she was the Sect Leader’s wife.

Right then, Master Li was just as she usually was—cool and collected, enigmatic in her thoughts.

An aura of authority washed over the room.

What brought the Sect Leader’s wife here?

Senior Brother Mei quickly tucked his legs back under the covers, revealing only his eyes peeping out like a startled turtle.

Yun Zhonghe, meanwhile, stared at the stunning woman now in front of him, feeling a mix of familiarity and strangeness.

Oh… right! Among all the girls he’d met yesterday, one of them looked just like her.

“Young Master, this is—”

Tao Jiu’er rushed to introduce, but was cut off by Master Li.

“No need for formality, I’m just here to check on Yun Zhonghe.”

Master Li had heard about Yun Zhonghe from Qin Wushuang, so she was totally cool with him being a bit oblivious.

Besides, this was her good friend’s son and the crush of her daughter, so no weird vibes at all.

She simply came to check on him; after all, he had crossed paths with her family during the tournament.

As luck would have it, many representatives from the five continents were gathering for a big deal, and the Immortal Alliance wanted to have a meeting with them at the Xuantian Sect.

Since Master Li had come all the way to the sect, she thought she’d swing by.

She even brought along some valuable gifts.

Being a woman of few words, Master Li directed her aides to hand over the gifts to Yun Zhonghe.

Speaking of which, one of the Immortal Alliance members tagging along with her was Lu Ren, the rookie who previously came to Tianhai City to investigate Yun Zhonghe.

As Lu Ren shuffled things around, he looked rather odd.

Why was Yun Zhonghe suddenly surrounded by all these unfamiliar girls…?

And this particular one was his boss’s daughter?!

d*mn… how enviable!

Qin Hongye was as warm and friendly as ever, without the usual intimidating air about her.

She inquired about Yun Zhonghe’s condition and urged him to rest up. Then she suggested that once he recovers, he should come over to her place for some tea.

After she left, Yun Zhonghe noticed she had left behind a basket of spiritual fruits.

Suddenly, he felt a pair of resentful eyes boring into him, like physical daggers.

“Ah, so you want to be the Sect Leader’s son-in-law now?”

Lu Ren didn’t say a word, merely nodded.

Yun Zhonghe felt a black cloud of confusion lingering.

This Senior Brother Mei certainly had a knack for connecting dots.
