Chapter 66: Shelf Talk
Hey buddies, my name is Seven-Paged Love Letter (let me emphasize this)
I’m thrilled to say this on my 23rd birthday.
As my debut work on Qidian, it sure wasn’t easy getting here.
The one before this wrapped up last year end, and in these past 9 months, I tried all sorts of styles, genres, tones, and failed many times.
About this time period, an ex-college student racked up massive debt, fell into self-doubt, then went solo to a strange city. He interviewed at like five or six companies, got scammed by different short video production companies, and eventually signed with Worry-Free Media. He worked as a TikTok host for half a month before fleeing.
Let’s skip the sob stories.
Let’s talk about how this story came to be born out of failure.
After hitting rock bottom, I had a revelation.
Since going with the flow may not guarantee success, why not write something I love?
Music and love.
Unlike traditional entertainment novels, this one uses music as the main theme and weaves melody into two young hearts’ journey and life.
The two characters grow together through music, understanding the tune of love with their experiences.
d*mn, that’s so d*mn cool.
This is exactly what I should write about!
And indeed, it proved that good storytelling can attract stylish and discerning readers too.
At the peak, this book hit fifth on the new release list, first among light novels, and stayed there for quite some time.
Considering the top contenders were Chen Dong, Yuan Tong, and CS King, I’m pretty satisfied with these results.

Now, let’s chat a bit about the future plans for this story.
Overall, it’s a warm, slightly fairy tale-like narrative.
There’s nothing grand, just a simple yet powerful story about true love conquering all.
For the musical competition parts, while I’m no music student, I strive to accurately depict them, even if some dramatic liberties are taken.
However, I graduated from a decent film academy with a degree in screenwriting and dramaturgy.
There are pros and cons either way—being a classical music enthusiast definitely adds something.
I will do my best to present the charm of music and melody through words.
Another important goal of this book.

I also want to give a big shout-out to my editor, Teacher Canaan.
He clarified the main storyline and inspired many ideas.
When I was down, he consoled me daily, giving me emotional support.
He even called me at midnight on weekends to discuss the plot. Truly, a dedicated guy!
When I wrote bizarre and abstract segments getting roasted, and cried that no one understood my humor—Canaan reassured me, saying it was interesting and not to change a thing!
There’s a mutual understanding there.
