Chapter 96

Chapter 96: The Excellent Laborer Christine Nanaly

Looking in front of him at Christine Nanaly, who had the audacity to stick a stinky foot in his face.

Lin Tian squinted, his eyes filled with confusion. “So, you’re here to declare war?”

“Of course,” she replied, striking an overdramatic pose.

“Aren’t you supposed to be friends with Gan Yan Yu?”

“Heh, definitely not.”

As she spoke, Lin Tian had already dragged the table under her, moving it across the floor.

“What the heck are you doing?!!”

“With your kind of demeanor, it’s no wonder you nobles have a bad reputation. Guess your ancestors were nothing but a bunch of thieves!”

Lin Tian continued to tug the table toward the door, not bothering to touch the blond girl at all, just sliding her right along with it.

He decided that his first order of business would be to put up a sign at the door that read “No Westerners or Dogs Allowed” to filter out these ill-mannered folks.

“You, you, you—”

Nanaly was completely blindsided by this whole operation; she couldn’t believe Lin Tian didn’t even let her finish her sentence.

And now he was just kicking her out!

Who does that?!

Is this guy brain dead or what?!

Once he got Nanaly to the door, Lin Tian placed his hands under the table and suddenly flipped it over.

“?!”

Fortunately, even though Nanaly’s dress was big and flowy, she managed to stay on her feet.

She stumbled, almost landing right on her backside.

“Sorry, but Gan Yan Yu is super busy today and can’t deal with you, Miss Liliya.”

“I’m NANA-LI!” she bellowed.

“Sure, Clara. Please, hurry along now. The soil here just isn’t suitable for you,” Lin Tian said, fully out of patience with this girl.

She felt like a few screws were loose up there.

Even though she was decent-looking, her attitude could scare even the feet away from a well-trained foot massage.

Unless someone had a thing for being mistreated by a posh Brit, while simultaneously learning some English listening skills.

“You must be that nasty partner’s sidekick; your personality is even worse!”

“Honestly, your piano skills are nothing impressive to me. I really don’t know what you’re doing being that nasty partner’s sidekick.”

On some level, Nanaly was really defeated at this point.

Arms crossed, she continued her sarcastic barrage.

“Lin Tian, what are you doing?”

At this moment, a voice came from behind them.

Gan Yan Yu walked in from the back door of the cafe, a curious expression plastered on her face as she asked.

Seeing the girl next to Lin Tian, Gan Yan Yu’s brows immediately furrowed.

“Nanaly?”

Upon hearing this, Lin Tian suddenly noticed the atmosphere around them had gone as quiet as a library.

He turned to look.

Nanaly was staring blankly at Gan Yan Yu, her voice dropping to a soft whisper, “Gan… Gan Yan Yu.”

Wait, where did that fierce attitude go?!

Before Lin Tian could retort, Gan Yan Yu had already walked up.

“How on earth are you here?”

“I’m planning to attend university around here,” Nanaly replied.

“Oh.”

Gan Yan Yu nodded, seeming to find this revelation of little importance.

“Come on in.”

Hearing this, a flicker of joy flitted across Nanaly’s face, but when she noticed Lin Tian beside her, she quickly suppressed it.

She then sported a disdainful look, as if to say, “Fine, since you let me in, I’ll just waltz right in!”

And with that, she stormed inside.

“.”

Lin Tian realized.

Maybe she wasn’t completely rude; she was just plain silly.

Is it a standard trait for cellists to be a bit off in the head?

Now that’s quite a stereotype brewing.

Standing before Gan Yan Yu, Nanaly seemed to regain her earlier bravado.

With a dramatic flip of her golden locks, she pointed accusatorily at Gan Yan Yu, enunciating each word, “Gan Yan Yu, I’m here to challenge you!”

Because she was shorter than Gan Yan Yu, she had to look up at her when she made this declaration.

Perhaps it was because Lin Tian himself stood tall, he had never really registered this fact before, but Gan Yan Yu was tall enough to dwarf most girls.

So when Nanaly had to tilt her head up, furiously declaring her challenge, it was downright hilarious.

“Challenge?” Gan Yan Yu was slightly puzzled.

“How sneaky! You returned without saying a word, not even a goodbye!”

Nanaly glared intensely at Gan Yan Yu, clearly peeved.

Through clenched teeth, she said, “There are only two of us top cellists in all of Manchester, and we haven’t settled our score yet, yet you run off just like that!”

“Wait a minute… I don’t quite remember this.”

Gan Yan Yu interrupted Nanaly.

The girl tilted her head, biting her lip as she thought hard.

After ten whole seconds of deep thought, Gan Yan Yu, looking a little embarrassed, earnestly said, “Sorry, I really can’t recall when you ever beat me in a competition.”

“If you have a specific time in mind, feel free to enlighten me.”

“.”

“It’s today! I’ll win you RIGHT NOW! Gan Yan Yu, don’t get too cocky!!!” Nanaly blushed fiercely, pointing an accusatory finger at Gan Yan Yu, shouting at the top of her lungs.

“If you’re so confident, let’s have a performance right now! Have your partner record it, and we’ll compare notes!”

“Sorry, but as much as I’d love to say yes,” Gan Yan Yu cut in once more.

“We have to clean up.”

“How long is that going to take?”

“Four or five hours, I suppose,” Lin Tian said as he surveyed the cafe.

Cleaning such a large place was no easy feat.

Moving tables, hauling filming equipment—it was all grunt work.

By the time everything was tidied up, it would probably be dawn.

Then suddenly, Lin Tian had a bright idea.

“Here’s a thought: you wanted to perform with Gan Yan Yu, right?”

He raised a finger and exclaimed, “Help us clean up, or after tonight, Teacher Gan won’t have time for you.”

“Ha???!”

Nanaly’s eyes went wide upon hearing this.

“Me? Clean with you guys? Do you know who I am?! I’m from the Christine family!”

“Cut the nonsense. If you want to challenge Gan Yan Yu, get to it!”

Lin Tian shoved a mop into Nanaly’s hands.

Then he turned away and got busy alongside Gan Yan Yu.

“You sweep this area by the counter, and I’ll move the tables.”

“Got it.”

The two of them immediately got to work, seemingly with no intention of giving her a moment to think about it.

“.”

Nanaly stared, dumbfounded, at the scene before her.

“Hey, Liliya!”

Lin Tian waved his finger at her, beckoning her.

“Stop daydreaming! Go mop where Gan Yan Yu already swept!”
