Chapter 0: Sky Tower (10)

==============================

The moment Lin Nan appeared,

the previously battered crowd instantly regained their full strength! Even the seriously injured folks lying on the ground, barely kept alive by Trissa, transformed into the mildly injured category—at least they could still waddle around.

As if that wasn’t enough, she simultaneously cast a wide-range protective buff on everyone.

With just this single move, the crowd’s understanding of the Harpist’s power skyrocketed to a whole new level.

Morris was so speechless it was as if someone had glued his mouth shut. If he could talk, he would be showering his master—the Great Harpist Lin—with the most beautiful words imaginable!

Trissa, on the other hand, was utterly flabbergasted.

Being in the know, she understood better than most just how challenging it was to achieve what Lin Nan did.

She never suspected that Lord Lin could unleash such a monumental amount of healing energy using just a basic harp, while simultaneously buffing everyone like a magical vending machine!

If it were her, she’d have to summon the deluxe harp, play it perfectly for over a minute, and still might not reach this level of recovery.

And Lin Nan? Just a few simple notes…

The gap between them couldn’t be more significant.

Before she could shake off her astonishment, she heard Lin Nan shout, “Quick retreat! We can’t waste any more time!”

Despite being baffled as to when she became the command-giver for the embassy, at that moment, the crowd had zero doubts, and they dashed toward the stables.

There waited their noble steeds—griffins.

With heads like birds and bodies of lions, these beasts didn’t exist in the real world, but were concocted by the demon folks using some hefty magic drugs—talk about expensive!

Compared to rare monster beasts and ethereal creatures, griffins were much easier to manufacture and churn out, so the embassy had one for everyone, making a speedy getaway easy-peasy.

“Lord Lin, you…”

Trissa started to leave but realized Lin Nan didn’t have a griffin.

Lin Nan replied, “I can fly, no need to worry.”

Good grief, a flying Harpist? What’s next, is she going to sprout wings and start handing out blessings like a deity?

Trissa fell deeper into her admiration.

To cover the embassy while they boarded the griffins, Lin Nan floated in the air, positioned herself right in front of the Seven Feathers and the Black Stone Army.

Faced with former subordinates, she hesitated to unleash her wrath.

After some thought, she instantly switched up her melody.

The Seven Feathers squad couldn’t just stand there like deer in headlights—they went full throttle at the suddenly appearing foe.

Yet the moment they charged forward, they found themselves transported from the dark, ominous Black Stone City to a sunny, flower-filled valley.

“What… is this a hallucination?”

“It must be a hallucination!”

“Darn it! Who is this Harpist, conjuring up all these tricks!”

Soldiers were panicking and swearing, but they couldn’t find any way out of the valley.

The music continued, and it seemed as long as it played, they’d be stuck in this unknown place forever.

Meanwhile, the embassy crew was now fully geared up and ready to go.

Morris’ loudspeaker, Adeline, shouted, “Lord Lin, the Count wants to know if we should head out?”

Lin Nan urgently replied, “Go, go now!”

The embassy crew immediately took to the skies.

“Lord Lin, let’s go together!” Trissa maneuvered the griffin around Lin Nan.

The enemies were wobbling around like they’d drunk too much—Trissa quickly put two and two together; they were definitely under Lin Nan’s hypnosis spell!

The hypnotic melody worked like a charm, but it had a glaring flaw: once the music stopped, the effect would vanish faster than a magician’s rabbit!

She should have stayed back to protect the embassy, heroically facing danger, but here was Lin Nan—who she had just met a couple of days ago—willing to buy them time.

In truth, this was putting herself in a heap of danger.

The embassy team was sincerely grateful, some were even shedding tears.

Morris was worried too but kept believing that Lin Nan was the embodiment of the God of Harmony. Gods, after all, don’t just get into scrapes!

As the leader of the embassy, he knew he couldn’t let his emotions run wild at this crucial moment. He needed to safeguard them; they had to survive to reach Cangyan City.

His heart silently wept.

Next time, he would stick to his master like gum on a shoe.

“I have a way out; Trissa, you go first!”

To avoid messing up the rhythm, Lin Nan whispered.

But just then, a voice thundered from the sky, “Trying to escape? Not a single one of you can leave!”

Lin Nan looked up to see someone coming down from the clouds, brandishing a spiked club, sporting two distinct horns—none other than the Great King of the Split Land.

What the heck? Not only the Tiger Demon Seven Feathers but now the Great King too…

Suddenly, Lin Nan recalled when Little Musashi, Strong Brother, and Cold Little Rain had faced the Ji Shen-controlled Small Cave Heaven.

Before entering the Small Cave, Strong Brother and Cold Little Rain encountered two strange bugs, and in an instant, it was like their souls had taken an unscheduled vacation.

If it weren’t for Little Musashi slicing through the illusions with her twin blades, they would’ve been devoured by those heart-eating worms and switched minds—those worms would’ve taken over their bodies completely!

They would end up as bugs, forever lost to the human world.

So these goons weren’t all overcome by heart-eating worms, were they?

The thought made Lin Nan’s heart skip a beat.

She really didn’t want to fight her former subordinates—it’s tough to go up against nostalgia; but the body they inhabited was not their true selves! Talk about a moral pickle!

As the Great King set his sights on the embassy folks who had just taken to the air,

“Trissa, keep going!”

Trissa jumped, quickly realizing Lin Nan’s plan.

She hastily summoned her four-stringed harp to carry on Lin Nan’s tune.

Thanks to her musical talent, she’d only listened for a short while but could mimic it almost perfectly.

At the same time, Lin Nan shot upward, blocking the Great King’s path.

“You serve the Cold Moon Witch, so why are you colluding with Black Stone City?” Lin Nan clung to the last shred of hope in her heart.

The Bull-Headed Man swung his club, lifting his head with an air of disdain, “What do you mean, ‘little girl’, daring to question this king?”

Lin Nan’s expression turned colder with each passing moment. She lightly plucked the harp strings, summoning several enlarging whirlpools around the bull-headed creature.

The Great King laughed, “Is that all? Such trivial tricks won’t impress this king!”

“Boom! Boom!”

After a series of deafening explosions, Lin Nan felt a massive wave split the smoke of the blasts, heading straight for her face.

She dodged, quickly playing another melody.

This time she triggered over ten air bombs, their force strong enough that the ground trembled under their power.

In an instant, the Great King stumbled back, bloodied and battered—a truly tragic sight.

Lin Nan coldly asked, “Still not ready to spill the beans? Who are you, really?”
