# Chapter 1: The Tough Road Ahead (4) (Bonus Update)

==============================

The morning sun was supposed to cast a warm glow over Falling Sunset Peak, with fragrant flowers blooming all around and chirping birds greeting the day from the branches.

Especially at the peak, vast fields of blossoming mandala flowers left first-time visitors utterly awestruck and with lasting impressions.

An Luo, though not a rookie here, still found it hard to shake off the beauty of Falling Sunset Peak, always longing for a reunion with its splendor.

However, this time, when he looked at the gently swaying fields of flowers, his heart was in a tangled mess. He desperately wished it was all a dream, that he’d wake up any second now and everything would be back to normal.

Unfortunately, this was just wishful thinking.

At this moment, over a hundred disciples from the Inner Door and Law Enforcement Hall surrounded Falling Sunset Peak tightly, with not even a fly able to slip through, let alone a person.

Luo Ying sensed something was off.

She stepped forward and fixed her cold gaze on the leading elder of the Law Enforcement Hall, Wang Qianshan.

“Elder Wang! What brings you here to see me?”

Wang Qianshan’s expression was as serious as a martial artist’s duel, with barely concealed rage shining in his eyes.

He pointed a trembling finger at her and bellowed, “Bold disciple! Who gave you the audacity to slay your master? If I don’t provide an explanation to everyone in the Heavenly Sword Sect today, I might as well take my own life right here!”

Luo Ying swayed a bit, disbelief evident on her face. “Elder, what did you just say? Master… he…”

Wang Qianshan roared, “Luo Ying, stop pretending! Your senior brother dedicated years teaching you only for you to heartlessly betray him for a demon from the Flowerless Palace! Have you lost your conscience to a dog?!

From today onwards, you are no longer the top disciple of the Inner Door. You are a sinner in all of Heavenly Sword Sect!”

Luo Ying felt a stab of pain in her heart, and her eyes instantly misted over.

But she quickly steadied herself, realizing something was off.

Bai Tao wanted to rush out of the room to support Luo Ying, but Lin Nan held her back at the door.

“Second Palace Master, don’t rush out. It might just make matters worse and inadvertently cause trouble for Luo Ying.”

Fatty added, “Yeah, Second Palace Master. They’re clearly trying to frame her. No matter what we say, it won’t matter.”

Luo Ying looked at Wang Qianshan, realizing that people were surrounding her on all sides, just waiting for Wang Qianshan to give the command to arrest her.

“This has nothing to do with those three. I’ll go with you; just let them go, okay?”

Luo Ying made her last plea.

Wang Qianshan’s face was dark as thunder. He certainly wasn’t going to give her any option.

The two-story building was completely surrounded by angry disciples now.

Lin Nan whispered, “We can’t stay here any longer.”

Fatty blurted, “You mean we must escape?”

“In their eyes, we are already traitors of the Heavenly Sword Sect. Staying here will only lead to us being coerced into confession with no chance of turning the tide.”

The players didn’t have much attachment to the sect. As they discussed, they saw through the crack of the door that Luo Ying had already half-knelt on the ground, surrendering the Dark Light Sword.

Holy cow… Master Sister, what are you doing?!

They’re obviously out to get you, and you’re still…

Bai Tao burst open the door with a loud bang, and in full view, knelt next to Luo Ying, joining her.

Wang Qianshan shot a glare at Bai Tao, his eyes glimmering with cold malice.

“Good, very good. Since the chief offender has surrendered, take them back for thorough questioning!”

Fatty nearly charged at Wang Qianshan for a fistfight but was ultimately restrained by Lin Nan.

“Fatty, don’t be impulsive. We can’t save Bai Tao like this.”

The situation had escalated more than Lin Nan had anticipated.

He had just seen Ling Xiaozu the night before, thinking things would turn for the better.

But after one night, Ling Xiaozu unexpectedly bit the dust, and the hidden enemies had pinned the blame for his m*rder on Luo Ying.

It seemed the enemies had long laid their trap within Sky Sword City, just waiting for them to walk right into it.

Now that he thought about it, they indeed had acted hastily.

If only they had waited a few days before entering Sky Sword City, perhaps he and Fatty could have sneaked in first to gather intel. If they could’ve caught a hint, maybe they wouldn’t have even entered Sky Sword City at all.

But alas, regretting now was useless.

As Wang Qianshan was about to leave with the two girls in tow, an Inner Door player suddenly shouted, “There are still two people in that house; they might know something!”

Wang Qianshan looked at An Luo and commanded, “It’s up to you. Bring them back to the Law Enforcement Hall.”

“Understood, Elder.”

“d*mn it! Which dirty little rat is behind this mess? I’ll k*ll him the next time I see him!” Fatty cursed loudly.

Lin Nan said gravely, “Fatty, we must break out today! As for Luo Ying and Bai Tao, we’ll think of something later.”

“But… can we really do that?”

Fatty peered through the door crack, seeing more and more black-clad disciples, his heart racing with anxiety.

After all, they were just mid-tier Inner Door disciples. Fighting back against the elite of the Law Enforcement Hall was no walk in the park.

Not to mention, the leader on the opposing side was An Luo—their guide into the Inner Door.

“Lin Nan, Duan Mu, out of respect for our friendship, I suggest you surrender like Master Sister and avoid those painful beatings.”

An Luo knew the strength of the two. Sure, Lin Nan was quite gifted and among the top of the new batch of disciples, but trying to escape from him was just a wild fantasy.

Fatty, feeling the pressure, turned to Lin Nan, “So what’s the plan?”

At that moment, he noticed a shift in Lin Nan’s expression.

The Second Personality?

Why does the First Personality always run off when it matters? Tsk tsk, so unreliable!

The Male Character said, “Surrender.”

Hey hey, what’s with the big ideological clash between your two personalities? One says fight, the other croaks surrender.

Well, now the aggressive First Personality was nowhere to be found, leaving only the surrendering Second Personality.

Fatty immediately wavered, his head drooping as he sighed, “Fine, surrender it is. It’s not a big deal, right? They can’t do much to players anyway.”

The Male Character slapped Fatty on the back, “Good going, you fatso! The moment I mention surrender, you act like you can’t wait to run into the enemy’s arms. I’m not surprised!”

Fatty blinked before realizing this was indeed that chatty persona he despised—not the intimidating First Personality he feared!

“cr*p, you set me up! All right, today this fat guy is going to fight! Losing a level? Who cares about that!”

“Bang!”

Fatty kicked the door open, striking a dramatic pose for a meat-shield style, ripping off his shirt to flaunt his chest. “Come on, let me show you who the real warrior is today!”

……

P.S.: Here’s the fourth update. Inspiration’s been a bit dry these past couple of days. I’ve got an outline but need to fill in the details. We’ll see how it goes tomorrow. If I can’t manage another four updates, I’ll let you know in advance.
